Kelly Moravec Academic Encouragement Scholarship

An award opportunity for graduating students who are dealing with, or have dealt with, a serious medical adversity.

The Kelly Moravec Academic Encouragement Scholarship, is in honor and loving memory of Kelly Moravec. Kelly Moravec was a young man who despite huge battles with medical tragedies, kept true to his academic goals and dreams. The Fund was established to honor the overcoming of medical adversities and to encourage continued education beyond high school through the awarding of scholarships, awards, and gifts for academic achievement, and the facilitation of connecting students for resource networking and peer support.

Virginia and Richard Matz Scholarship

Sidney High School past graduates who are pursuing an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree. 

Selection based upon:

• Financial need, demonstrated community and school service, recommendations, and academic ability.

Awards

• Two $4,500 scholarships.

The ASM Minority Travel Award aims to enhance diversity in microbial sciences by supporting faculty from underrepresented institutions, including community colleges and historically black colleges. This initiative ensures that diverse perspectives are included in the field, fostering a richer academic environment. Awardees receive complimentary registration and housing for ASM Microbe 2026, promoting professional development and networking opportunities in microbiology.

American Physical Society

The American Physical Society is a nonprofit membership organization working to advance physics by fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and global community dedicated to science and society. APS represents more than 50,000 members, including physicists in academia, national laboratories, and industry in the United States and around the world.

APS Honors recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of the global physics community. Guided by our core values, APS Honors encourages nominations that reflect the full range of talent, distinction, and experience in our field, and supports broad canvassing for professional achievement across diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and expertise.

Mildred Dresselhaus Prize in Nanoscience and Nanomaterials

The Dresselhaus Prize recognizes an outstanding scientist in the areas of nanoscience or nanomaterials. The prize is conferred annually and includes a $10,000 stipend, a certificate citing the contributions of the recipient, and a reimbursement of up to $2,000 for travel to an APS meeting to receive the honor and deliver an invited talk.

Nominations will be considered for three review cycles provided the nominator re-certifies the nomination before the next deadline.

Lou and Diane Gerard Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is open to all majors, with priority given to students majoring in Liberal Studies, Elementary Education, or Early Childhood Education.

Lou and Diane Gerard Scholarship Fund honors long-time citizens of Redding, Lou and Diane Gerard, who made Northern California their home since 1959. Both were compassionate former teachers with a devotion to community service. They were members of numerous nonprofit boards and organizations over their lifetimes, including a combined 89 years on Redding area school boards. With unwavering dedication, Lou and Diane Gerard were committed to the advancement of educational opportunities for all.

This endowed fund provides scholarship opportunities for those seeking to further their education.

Reach Higher Scholarship Fund

From their freshman to senior year, the Reach Higher Scholarship Fund, offers $250 that may be renewed by the awarded student for a total scholarship of up to $1,000 at the end of four years. This scholarship aims to reward and motivate students EARLY in their high school careers and build a sense of hope for the pursuit of higher education. Annually, ten high school freshmen will be awarded $250 – funds will be held for final scholarship distribution when the awarded student successfully enrolls in a university. The mission of the Reach Higher Scholarship Fund is to make a difference in the community, as well as in individual students’ lives, by focusing upon Shasta County students who are statistically unlikely to pursue a university education; ultimately increasing the percentage of our local high school graduates who pursue a university education. 

If selected, you will receive your scholarship award when you are enrolled at a four-year college or university.

Founded in 1950, the AMA Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American Medical Association. Its mission is to bring together physicians and communities to improve the nation's health. The AMA Foundation Leadership Development Institute

Program Overview

The Leadership Development Institute is dedicated to cultivating an aspiring cohort of physician leaders who are committed to their patients, their communities, and the future of health care.

Designed for medical students, this competitive, yearlong program provides participants with professional development opportunities and individualized mentorship from experienced physician leaders. Through the LDI, participants gain the tools, confidence, and perspective needed to navigate medical school, explore leadership pathways, and contribute to organized medicine throughout their careers.

The AARP Community Challenge Grant: Capacity-Building Microgrant offers $2,500 to support projects that enhance community livability for residents aged 50 and older. The Shasta Health Rock Stars Scholarship Fund benefits and supports students who are actively pursuing a career in health and are currently enrolled in college or graduate programs. Health is broadly interpreted as the fields of medical, dental, behavioral health, addiction treatment services or public health. An ideal applicant will have an interest in staying in or returning to Shasta County after program completion to work in a health career supporting the medically underserved.

Adam E. Huelskamp Scholarship

A college student who resides in school districts in Shelby, Auglaize or Mercer County, Ohio.

Selection based upon:

Demonstrated community and school service, financial need, employment history, and an additional essay of no less than 100 words and no more than 200 words on a designated topic.

Top of the State Scholarship Endowment Fund

Two different application opportunities available to 1) college or university bound Shasta & Tehama county high school students who have played golf in high school or junior golf programs and 2) previous award recipients from this fund.

The mission of the Top of the State Board of Directors is to provide educational scholarships for Shasta & Tehama county high school students who have played golf in high school or junior golf programs, and are planning to pursue degrees at two or four year universities and colleges. The Top of the State Scholarship Endowment Fund is made possible primarily from the proceeds of the SJ Denham Scholarship Golf Classic in August of each year.

Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi 

The Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi manages 314 donor-established funds and has disbursed over $48 million to support more than 1,000 charitable organizations and activities recommended by its donors, as well as charitable programs established by the foundation. Established in 2002 with a generous grant from the Maddox Foundation, the Community Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 charitable organization. The Foundation serves Bolivar, Coahoma, DeSoto, Leflore, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tunica and Yalobusha counties. 

Cindy Lipscomb Scholarship

To recognize an outstanding senior in DeSoto County, the DeSoto County Prayer Council established the DeSoto County Prayer Council Scholarship., now the Cindy Lipscomb Scholarship. The first scholarship was offered in Spring 2007 and continues to be open to all seniors in DeSoto County Schools each year.

The Community Foundation of NCW is a tax-exempt philanthropic organization that helps individuals, families, businesses, and agencies support charitable causes throughout Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties.

Follow Your Dreams Scholarship

The Follow Your Dreams Scholarship, established in 2025, supports students from Cashmere High School who are pursuing post-secondary education through a trade school, apprenticeship, or certificate program. This scholarship is designed to encourage and assist students as they take the next step toward building practical skills, meaningful careers, and a future aligned with their goals.

Andrew J. Lavagnino Scholarship of Kindness

The Andrew J. Lavagnino Scholarship of Kindness honors Andrew Jonathan Lavagnino, a 2014 graduate of Eastmont High School. Andrew was known for the kindness, compassion, and joy that he brought to those around him. He was passionate about physical fitness, food, sports, music, and movies and loved his family, friends, and pets. This scholarship aims to support students who embody kindness and compassion to all those around them.

The Jack Miller Center Fellowships at the Newberry Library support scholars advancing the understanding of America's founding principles and history. Open to postdoctoral scholars and PhD candidates, these short-term fellowships provide a stipend of $3,000 per month for research on specific collection items. Applications are encouraged from scholars of all nationalities, including those in the Chicago metropolitan area, fostering a diverse academic community committed to exploring America's historical narratives.

The Adele Hast Fellowship in American History, offered by The Newberry Library, supports scholars working on projects related to American history, particularly those with a specific need for the Newberry's extensive collections. This short-term fellowship provides a stipend of $3,000 per month for a duration of one month. Open to postdoctoral scholars and PhD candidates, it encourages research that contributes to a deeper understanding of American history and its impacts.

Maria E. McCarthy Ringwood Memorial Scholarship

Established by the family of Maria McCarthy Ringwood to honor her memory and love of theater, this scholarship is available to Roy C. Ketcham High School and Our Lady of Lourdes High School college-bound graduating seniors who have actively participated in theater in school.

Established by the Hyde Park Rotary in honor of Mr. Nichols, income from this fund provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors living in the Hyde Park School District with plans to pursue a career in a medical field.

The Center for Scholarship Administration

The Center for Scholarship Administration (CSA) provides corporations, foundations, trust funds, and individual philanthropists scholarship selection and administration management that is experienced, professional, and cost efficient while lending the program an integrity not inherent in internal selection committees.

Wickam, Ivie Frances scholarship

The Ivie Frances Wickam Scholarship Trust is providing scholarships for deserving students. The Center for Scholarship Administration, Inc. (CSA), a non-profit, independent organization is the facilitator of the scholarship fund.

This scholarship is for one year only; however, current recipients may reapply and be considered for additional funding along with other new applicants. Scholarship recipients must be enrolled full-time. Scholarship recipients are limited to four total years of scholarship award and are expected to have been enrolled consecutive years during that time. Students must reapply for additional scholarship awards each year.

The NSF National Quantum Virtual Laboratory - Quantum Testbeds initiative aims to enhance U.S. leadership in quantum science and technology. By fostering collaboration among researchers, industry partners, and diverse talent, this program seeks to accelerate the development and implementation of quantum technologies. It emphasizes translational research, education, and outreach, ensuring broad engagement across sectors. Proposals must follow established design and implementation deadlines to contribute effectively to the overarching goals of the National Quantum Initiative.

The Coast Fork Scholarship supports graduates or graduating seniors from Cottage Grove or Al Kennedy Alternative High Schools pursuing higher education across the United States. This scholarship is aimed at those who have demonstrated resilience in overcoming challenges, with a focus on applicants dedicated to helping others or improving their communities.
