The Community Foundation of Wabash County offers a wide variety of post-secondary education scholarships to traditional, non-traditional, and graduate students. With nearly 70 different scholarship endowments created through the generosity of our donors, many students are eligible to apply.  

Wabash County Solid Waste Management District Scholarship

In a county rich in natural resources, the Solid Waste Management District uses this scholarship to encourage full-time study in the environmental studies field from an Indiana college or university. This scholarship supports graduating high school seniors, though current college students may also apply.

The Cancer Center Cancer Prevention & Control (CPC) Pilot Award supports innovative research focusing on risk reduction and symptom science for cancer prevention. Eligible applicants are IUSCCC members and can request up to $50,000 for a one-year project. This funding encourages collaboration and is aimed at distinct projects separate from existing funded research, enhancing the potential for impactful findings in cancer control.

CSX Charitable Investments offers the Pride in Service Grants to support organizations that honor and assist military members and first responders. Focus areas include safety, mental health, community bridging, workforce development, and addressing food insecurity. Eligible organizations include those with 501(c)(3) status, government entities, and educational institutions. Grants aim to uplift communities and recognize the contributions of those who serve, while ensuring alignment with specific charitable criteria.

Kansas Association of Independent Crop Consultants Scholarship Fund

The Kansas Association of Independent Crop Consultants created this scholarship fund to award to a qualified individual majoring in an agricultural field.

With support from Toyota Motor North America, the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) is pleased to announce $250,000 in grant funding to make public lands more accessible and enjoyable for people of all abilities. The 2026 grant program will focus on communities near Toyota Motor North America facilities and is restricted to 16 communities, as detailed below. 

Overview

Through the 2026 Driving Mobility and Accessibility on Public Lands grant, NEEF aims to:

• Increase the capacity of local organizations and government agencies to address mobility and accessibility considerations on public lands; and
• Improve the level of access, comfort, and enjoyment experienced by public lands visitors of all abilities, together with their families and friends.

The grant will provide up to $20,000 per grantee to increase physical or digital access, provide adaptive recreation equipment or programming, or perform accessibility assessments on public lands in communities near 16 Toyota Motor North America facilities.

The Patterson Foundation offers Assistance Dog Program Grants to support organizations providing service animals to veterans and individuals with disabilities. Funding is available for projects that expand capacity, personnel costs related to puppy training, and program support aimed at improving client experiences. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) non-profits and can request grants up to $35,000 for capital projects or $10,000 for program support. Applications are accepted through a two-step process.

The Arts Fund Grants provide vital support for emerging artists from Australia and the USA, facilitating their artistic development through grants of up to $5,000. This funding can be used for travel, living expenses, tuition, and other related costs. Eligible applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of either country and have a formal offer from an accredited institution. The program emphasizes merit-based opportunities across various artistic fields, fostering international collaboration and cultural exchange.

Roy B. Craver Scholarship Endowment

Roy B. Craver was a veteran of World War I. He established a scholarship for residents of Wabash County and graduates of a Wabash County high school who like himself are willing to serve in the armed forces even if they do not intend to enlist.

The Grand Rapids Community Foundation's Fund for Community Good supports projects that promote equity and justice across various sectors, including education, health, and economic prosperity. This unrestricted fund invites partnerships with 501(c)(3) nonprofits and government entities, primarily focusing on Kent County, Michigan. The foundation prioritizes initiatives that dismantle systemic racism and foster inclusive opportunities, ensuring all community members can thrive. Eligible applicants can submit pre-applications year-round for potential funding.

The Garden Club of America Award in Coastal Wetlands Studies supports graduate students engaged in coastal wetlands research. Established through the Rockefeller Environmental Education Fund, this scholarship promotes conservation by funding field work in tidal and nontidal wetlands across coastal states, including the Great Lakes. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. graduate program and can propose their own wetlands study. The Cancer Center American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant Competition aims to support new IU investigators with pilot projects in cancer research. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold a valid visa, and must not have received prior ACS-IRG funding. The goal is to foster innovative research that addresses crucial health challenges.

The Franco Family Institute's Publication Imaging Grant supports faculty in publishing peer-reviewed scholarly monographs. It provides funding for publication costs, image acquisition, and professional indexing. Awards are competitive, prioritizing assistant and associate professors. Grants typically cover up to $2,000 for image costs, with exceptions possible for extraordinary circumstances. Applications are accepted from August 1 to May 31, emphasizing the importance of quality contributions and professional reputation in the review process.

They seek to enhance the quality of life by providing funds through a grant making process for education, economic development, health, youth sports, community organizations meeting the needs of the underserved, and humanitarian projects.

Though the Samerian Foundation primarily serves Central Indiana, it has taken part in some international endeavors and have reached outside the state on special projects.

The Samerian Foundation is the philanthropic vehicle of the Skjodt’s generosity. To date, they have granted 2,105 requests of nearly $93.4 million.

The Samerian Foundation is lovingly named after Cindy and Paul’s children, Samantha, Erik, and Ian, who serve on the board.

Samantha B. Skjodt Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Simon- Skjodt family to inform and inspire individuals about the past and future contributions of women in STEM.

This scholarship is for women who wish to pursue a degree in technology at Indiana University.

The Standard Charitable Foundation, launched in 2006, further extends this commitment by supporting organizations that align with its philanthropic goals.

Paul Skjodt Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Simon-Skjodt family to encourage students pursuing degrees with a focus on addiction treatment, science and research.

The IN Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) offers financial and technical support to private landowners and Indian tribes for restoring and protecting wetlands through various easement options. These include permanent and 30-year easements, where NRCS covers most costs including easement values and restoration. Benefits include improved wildlife habitats, enhanced water quality, and resilience to climate change. This program is available year-round, ensuring ongoing support for eligible landowners.

The Cathy E. Harris Good Samaritan Scholarship, established by the Parkview Health Foundation, honors Cathy Harris, a dedicated former Director of Parkview Samaritan. This scholarship supports Parkview co-workers pursuing Basic EMT, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic certification, emphasizing the foundation's commitment to enhancing healthcare education and community service. With a legacy of charitable giving since 1878, the foundation plays a crucial role in improving patient care and experiences in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.

Dorothy J. and William A. Rice Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Established by Gary A. Rice and Randall W. Rice to memorialize their parents, Dorothy and William, who were devoted members of Christ United Methodist Church in Wabash, Indiana. The endowment provides funds to Christ United Methodist Church to be used to award tuition only scholarship grants to members of the church.

The Joyce Foundation's Journalism Grants support independent, nonpartisan reporting to address critical issues in the Great Lakes region. By investing in high-quality journalism, the Foundation aims to promote informed decision-making and strengthen community cohesion. Eligible applicants include nonprofit journalism organizations and projects that enhance local news and support early career journalists, particularly those from diverse backgrounds. The application process requires advance planning, with funding decisions made quarterly.

The DCCF Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship offers a remarkable opportunity for one Decatur County student, covering full tuition and fees for a four-year degree at any accredited Indiana college or university. Additionally, the recipient receives a $900 annual stipend for books and equipment. This scholarship is administered by Independent Colleges of Indiana, ensuring a fair nomination process through the Decatur County Community Foundation, which aims to foster educational success and community development.

The Decatur County Community Foundation Scholarship offers financial assistance to students attending any public or private college in Indiana. Funded by the Decatur County Community Foundation, this scholarship awards four scholarships of up to $5,000 each to finalists who do not receive the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden of education and inspire community generosity.

CSA Midwest Region: Beth Dunlap Award

 The Midwestern Region presents The Beth Dunlap Award at the Regional Symposium. The award will be offered to a person who has made contributions worthy of the highest commendation and the achievements will have continued importance. Beth Dunlap was one of the founding members of the Midwestern Region. A fashion illustrator and artist, she passed away in 2009.

The PLTW Launch Program Expansion in Indiana offers a $5,000 grant for the 2026-2027 academic year to enhance existing PLTW programs or introduce new ones. Eligible activities include expanding module offerings, reaching more students, and teacher training. All Indiana schools can apply, but funds must be used specifically for program expansion, excluding salaries and certain equipment costs. This initiative supports STEM education by improving access to quality learning resources.

The PLTW Launch program in Indiana offers grants of $20,000 to support the implementation of new PLTW programs in schools for the 2026-2027 academic year. Grantees must provide at least one PLTW Launch module in the first year and an additional module in the following year. Eligible applicants include public, private, and charter schools in Indiana. Funding can cover participation fees, necessary equipment, and training costs, while excluding salaries and other specified expenses.

The PLTW Gateway Program Expansion in Indiana aims to enhance STEM education by providing grants for schools to implement or expand existing PLTW programs during the 2026-2027 academic year. Grants of $15,000 are available to support activities such as adding new units, increasing class periods, and training teachers. All Indiana schools are eligible, fostering inclusive access to innovative learning opportunities for students across various educational settings.
