Eagle Award

The Kiwanis Indiana Foundation has established a recognition award for presenting to anyone who has gone “above and beyond” in serving their Kiwanis club. It can also be awarded for service to their community or others. It could be awarded to an outgoing President, Lt. Governor, or other club officer. This includes someone who has brought in several new members, a member who has taken on and completed a new service project. Or it can be to anyone else you or your club feel have accomplished great things.

The Honoree will receive a beautifully designed Eagle lapel pin and a certificate with the $250 donation to the Kiwanis Indiana Foundation.

The PLTW Launch Program Expansion in Indiana offers a $5,000 grant for the 2026-2027 academic year to enhance existing PLTW programs or introduce new ones. Eligible activities include expanding module offerings, reaching more students, and teacher training. All Indiana schools can apply, but funds must be used specifically for program expansion, excluding salaries and certain equipment costs. This initiative supports STEM education by improving access to quality learning resources.

The PLTW Launch program in Indiana offers grants of $20,000 to support the implementation of new PLTW programs in schools for the 2026-2027 academic year. Grantees must provide at least one PLTW Launch module in the first year and an additional module in the following year. Eligible applicants include public, private, and charter schools in Indiana. Funding can cover participation fees, necessary equipment, and training costs, while excluding salaries and other specified expenses.

The External Collaborative Research Grants by Boehringer Ingelheim support academic and clinical scientists in proposing research studies. These grants facilitate collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim, which may provide intellectual and financial support. Applicants must assume full responsibility for their research while complying with regulatory standards. The funding should cover research costs, excluding salary support for the collaborative partner. Interested investigators must apply online for consideration.

The Community Health Partnerships (CHeP) Trailblazer Award invites proposals for community-engaged research projects aiming to enhance health equity and address social determinants of health. The Standard's Corporate Giving Program emphasizes community support and employee engagement, reflecting its foundational mission to enhance financial well-being. Established in 1906, the program focuses on Healthy Communities, Disability and Empowerment, Cultural Development, and Education. With a funding range of $500 to $25,000, it aims to make a substantial impact in the lives of individuals and families facing challenges. The Standard Charitable Foundation, launched in 2006, further extends this commitment by supporting organizations that align with its philanthropic goals.

The Community Health Partnerships (CHeP) Trailblazer Planning Grant aims to foster community-university partnerships in Indiana to enhance health equity and address social determinants of health. This initiative will fund activities such as meetings and conferences that lead to collaborative research proposals. Awards of up to $5,000 support partnership growth and the development of future grant applications. The Darryl R. Smith Medical Technical Scholarship, established by the Parkview Health Foundation, honors Dr. Smith, a former Medical Director. This scholarship offers two $1,000 awards to Parkview Med-Tech students: one for the highest GPA and another for the greatest financial need. This initiative supports students in learning vital medical technician skills, ensuring they contribute effectively to patient diagnoses and treatment plans, ultimately enhancing healthcare in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.

The Ackerman Foundation, established in 1992, aims to enhance the vitality of central Indiana by supporting organizations that promote self-sufficiency for the underprivileged and initiatives that improve educational outcomes. They provide grants exclusively to 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations, typically limiting support to one grant per year per agency. The foundation does not fund individuals and focuses on sustaining local cultural and health institutions to enrich community life.

Our Scholarships

For High School Seniors & Non Traditional Students who are beginning college more than one year after high school.

The Community Foundation of Wabash County offers a wide variety of post-secondary education scholarships to traditional, non-traditional, and graduate students. With nearly 70 different scholarship endowments created through the generosity of our donors, many students are eligible to apply.    

Dorothy J. and William A. Rice Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Established by Gary A. Rice and Randall W. Rice to memorialize their parents, Dorothy and William, who were devoted members of Christ United Methodist Church in Wabash, Indiana. The endowment provides funds to Christ United Methodist Church to be used to award tuition only scholarship grants to members of the church.

The Patterson Foundation offers Assistance Dog Program Grants to support organizations providing service animals to veterans and individuals with disabilities. Funding is available for projects that expand capacity, personnel costs related to puppy training, and program support aimed at improving client experiences. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) non-profits and can request grants up to $35,000 for capital projects or $10,000 for program support. Applications are accepted through a two-step process.

The Indiana Youth Institute is offering School-Based Training Grants to support professional development for school staff in Indiana. Grants provide funding for expert-led training sessions tailored to district needs, enhancing staff skills and student services. With a funding amount of $500 per training, this initiative aims to make quality training accessible to educators facing scheduling conflicts. Eligible applicants must be school district staff, with a preference for trainings covering over 100 staff members.

The Costume Society of America (CSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded on March 23, 1973, and incorporated in the state of New York on September 12, 1973. CSA serves it members, and promotes its goals with national symposia and publications including the journal Dress and its monthly electronic newsletter CSA e-News.

The organization began forming regional groups in 1978. There are six regional groups in the United States and Canada, and one international group. Individual regions hold annual meetings, sponsor programs and publish newsletters.

Midwest Region Student Travel Award

Each year, CSA travel funding in an amount up to $750 is available for a Midwest Region Student Member to present at the National Symposium of The Costume Society of America. Awards may be distributed among multiple student members.

Indiana Clinical & Translational Sciences Institute

The Indiana Clinical & Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) has been at the forefront of translational research since 2008. From the lab bench to clinical trials and beyond, we help researchers move their scientific findings through the development pipeline.

Cancer Center Early Career Investigator Award 

The IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Cancer Center Junior Faculty Special Interest Group (JFSIG) are inviting proposals for pilot/feasibility research projects in any area of basic, translational, or clinical cancer research (diagnostics, therapeutics), and population science research (prevention, survivorship, quality of life, epidemiology) that would serve to advance the applicants’ career goals.

The Partners for Places Jobs and Inclusive Infrastructure Initiative Grants aim to support communities by leveraging infrastructure funds to create equitable projects that benefit underserved areas. This pilot program will provide funding for local workers through career training and inclusive economic practices. With grants ranging from $45,000 to $120,000, the initiative focuses on enhancing human infrastructure, fostering collaboration among key partners, and ensuring that frontline communities directly benefit from project implementations.

The Cancer Center American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant Competition aims to support new IU investigators with pilot projects in cancer research. Funded by the American Cancer Society, this initiative provides up to $50,000 to help early-career researchers develop preliminary data for future national funding opportunities. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold a valid visa, and must not have received prior ACS-IRG funding. The goal is to foster innovative research that addresses crucial health challenges.

The Carol Ann and Ralph V Haile Jr Foundation Grant aims to enhance the quality of life for residents in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Established by Carol and Ralph Haile, the foundation focuses on funding initiatives in arts and culture, civic engagement, education, and human services. It supports organizations that are tax-exempt and aligns with their mission across ten counties. By fostering collaboration, the foundation seeks to create a vibrant community and drive meaningful change.

R. Dean and Vivian Townsend Memorial Scholarship

Annual, renewable scholarship created by Robert and Judith Townsend in memory of R. Dean and Vivian Townsend. It was a lifelong desire of Dean and Vivian to help Gibson County students who could not attend a post-secondary school without financial aid.

Award Amount

• $8,160 (Open to renewal candidate only - not accepting new applications)

Renewal Details

May be renewable for up to four years in pursuit of recipient’s degree. Renewal applications may be considered provided the recipient continues to meet his or her college or university’s academic standards. Renewal award amounts may differ from original award. A new recipient for the award will be identified once the prior year’s recipient has completed his or her eligibility for the award. Renewal applications will be assigned to renewal candidates in their online student account.

Armstrong County Community Foundation

The Armstrong County Community Foundation, a public nonprofit corporation,

Gerstbrein/McCanna Scholarship for the Arts

After a long and rewarding career in Landscape Design and Art Education, Lisa Gerstbrein/McCanna wanted to promote the Arts and Industrial Arts in the community where she made her home and her livelihood. Her career brought her tremendous joy in pursuits that she loved as well as the satisfying reward of helping students find inspiration in the worlds of Art and Industrial Art. She is a true believer in the concept of STEAM based education. Accordingly, she established a fund to provide scholarships for the advanced education of advancing Senior High School Students in these areas who are residents of Armstrong County, Pennsylvania and are pursuing higher education in an approved program within 300 miles of their respective school - Armstrong High School, West Shamokin High School or Lenape Technical School.

With support from Toyota Motor North America, the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) is pleased to announce $250,000 in grant funding to make public lands more accessible and enjoyable for people of all abilities. The 2026 grant program will focus on communities near Toyota Motor North America facilities and is restricted to 16 communities, as detailed below. 

Overview

Through the 2026 Driving Mobility and Accessibility on Public Lands grant, NEEF aims to:

• Increase the capacity of local organizations and government agencies to address mobility and accessibility considerations on public lands; and
• Improve the level of access, comfort, and enjoyment experienced by public lands visitors of all abilities, together with their families and friends.

The grant will provide up to $20,000 per grantee to increase physical or digital access, provide adaptive recreation equipment or programming, or perform accessibility assessments on public lands in communities near 16 Toyota Motor North America facilities.

The Joyce Foundation's Journalism Grants support independent, nonpartisan reporting to address critical issues in the Great Lakes region. By investing in high-quality journalism, the Foundation aims to promote informed decision-making and strengthen community cohesion. Eligible applicants include nonprofit journalism organizations and projects that enhance local news and support early career journalists, particularly those from diverse backgrounds. The application process requires advance planning, with funding decisions made quarterly.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) is offering funding through the Small Business Transportation Technical Assistance Center (SBTTAC) for Region 3. This initiative aims to assist small and disadvantaged businesses in transportation. The funding opportunity is part of a cooperative agreement for one award covering a 12-month base year, with the potential for two additional option years based on performance. This support is crucial for enhancing small business capabilities in the transportation sector.

The NIDCD is offering funding to advance HIV/AIDS research, particularly focusing on areas related to communication disorders. This initiative supports low-risk clinical trials and encourages researchers to align their proposals with high priority topics identified by the NIH Office of AIDS Research. Applications must be submitted by the local deadline, with optional Letters of Intent due 30 days prior to the proposal deadline. This opportunity aims to enhance understanding and treatment in this crucial health area.

The Nationwide Fishing Trap Removal, Assessment, and Prevention (TRAP) Program aims to eliminate derelict fishing traps nationwide. Focused on collaboration, it emphasizes standardized data collection, quantifying impacts, and comprehensive data sharing. With an annual budget of up to $1,475,000, the program supports 6 to 15 projects, providing grants ranging from $50,000 to $200,000 for 18-month initiatives. This effort significantly enhances marine resource conservation by reducing bycatch mortality and removing abandoned traps.

CSX Charitable Investments offers the Pride in Service Grants to support organizations that honor and assist military members and first responders. Focus areas include safety, mental health, community bridging, workforce development, and addressing food insecurity. Eligible organizations include those with 501(c)(3) status, government entities, and educational institutions. Grants aim to uplift communities and recognize the contributions of those who serve, while ensuring alignment with specific charitable criteria.

CSA Midwest Region: Beth Dunlap Award

 The Midwestern Region presents The Beth Dunlap Award at the Regional Symposium. The award will be offered to a person who has made contributions worthy of the highest commendation and the achievements will have continued importance. Beth Dunlap was one of the founding members of the Midwestern Region. A fashion illustrator and artist, she passed away in 2009.

This funding opportunity invites innovative pilot studies focused on biological, behavioral, and social mechanisms related to HIV pathogenesis, aligning with NIDDK's mission and NIH HIV/AIDS research priorities. Topics may include exploring pathophysiological mechanisms of HIV comorbidities and coinfections, understanding HIV reservoirs in relevant tissues, and examining social determinants affecting health outcomes. Applications are due by 5:00 PM local time of the applicant organization.
