The Fort Dodge Community Foundation is a unique philanthropic organization. George and Doris Merrill Family Foundation 5M Scholarship aka Merrill Family Foundation 5M Scholarship is administered by the Fort Dodge Community Foundation.

Coover/Rural Schools Partnership Celebrate Rural Schools Grant Program

The Louis L. and Julia Dorothy Coover Foundation, a partnership between Community Foundation of the Ozarks and The Commerce Trust Company is proud to offer the Celebrate Rural Schools grant program, which will support projects that celebrate, strengthen, and elevate the unique identity of rural schools and the communities they serve. This grant supports projects that celebrate the unique culture, achievements, and identity of rural schools and their communities. It encourages districts to amplify local voices, showcase student success, and strengthen community connections. 

• Eligible applicants must be a member of the CFO's Rural Schools Partnership program.
• Total amount to award is $100,000.00.
• This is a single year grant program with final reports due in May 2027.
• Applicants may apply for up to $5,000 in funding for this grant cycle. 

The Community Foundation of the Ozarks and its Rural Schools Partnership Program are committed to supporting rural schools. Delford M. & Portia K. Richter Agriculture Scholarship

Delford M. & Portia K. Richter Agriculture Scholarship provides financial support to students pursuing education in agriculture-related fields. Selection is based on academic achievement and promise, demonstrated financial need, the likelihood that the recipient will return to Pike County or Calhoun County to engage in farming, the applicant’s ability to successfully complete their chosen program, and how well the educational program aligns with the applicant’s ongoing course of study. Awards are made annually in the spring.

Distinguished Contribution Award

The purpose of the Distinguished Contribution Award is to recognize the scientific contribution of a member who has conducted or promoted research, which has enhanced the science and practice of nursing in the MNRS region.

Grants from Iowa Department of Education help Iowa higher education institutions re-engage adult learners who stopped out due to small institutional debts. Community colleges can receive up to US $7,500 to replicate Hawkeye Community College’s Take 2 model and join a statewide Community of Practice focused on postsecondary completion, which may benefit preschool-connected family outreach pathways.

Iowa correctional institutions offering career and technical education programs in Iowa can receive supplementary support services funding to help incarcerated students complete high-skill, high-wage, or high-demand training. Iowa Department of Education’s Perkins V State Training School Grant provides US $20,246 for eligible programming, which may interest education-focused organizations collaborating with justice-involved youth pathways.

Rural healthcare organizations in Iowa can seek funding to procure and install medical equipment, including minor facility renovations, through this program. Focused on expanding service lines and sustaining high-quality care in rural communities, Iowa Health and Human Services supports projects that enhance health care access and delivery, which may benefit preschool-serving health programs in these areas.

Purpose

The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) # COMPADM26002 is to solicit applications that will enable the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (referred to as Agency) to select the most qualified applicant to provide technical assistance to Rural Iowa healthcare organizations and providers. This technical assistance will support providers with planning, partnership building, assessment and evaluation, and overall implementation of Hub and Spoke models of care in the areas of maternal and child health, mental/behavioral health, cardiovascular health, and/or chronic disease prevention and management.  

This technical assistance should allow Rural healthcare organizations to achieve success in future Health Hubs Projects of Iowa's Rural Health Transformation Grant. Activities in the Health Hubs Project will include the development of hub and spoke models for health care, including the development of rural provider strategic partnerships and agreements. It will also include developing and implementing arrangements for exchanging best practices, coordinating care across regions via telehealth and referral networks, expanding access to specialty services in a financially sustainable manner, streamlining or centralizing functions to create cost savings, improving the financial viability of rural providers, preserving independence of rural providers, keeping care local in rural communities when appropriate and possible, and developing models of sustainability for rural health care. The Contractor will support the Health Hubs on the items listed above, while also assisting with long-term sustainability planning, workforce development, and telehealth integration. This work implements a portion of the Hometown Connections initiative of the Iowa Healthy Hometowns Project, funded through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Rural Health Transformation Program, opportunity #: CMS-RHT-26-001. 

Purpose

Activities in the Combat Cancer initiative of the Healthy Hometowns project include the development of hub and spoke models for cancer care, including the development of rural provider strategic partnerships. This includes developing and implementing arrangements that include exchanging best practices and coordination of care (which includes but is not limited to remote care services), expanding access to specialty services in a financially sustainable manner, streamlining or centralizing functions to create cost savings, improving the financial viability of rural providers, preserving independence of rural providers, keeping care local in rural communities when possible and appropriate, and developing models of sustainability for rural cancer providers. Other efforts include the coordination of patient navigation and survivorship services and the oversight of fidelity to evidence-based cancer screening, treatment, and care coordination practices. The Contractor will also support long-term sustainability planning, including workforce development, tele-oncology integration, and alignment with Commission on Cancer (CoC) standards. This work implements a portion of the Combat Cancer: Prevent and Treat initiative of the Iowa Healthy Hometowns Project, funded through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Rural Health Transformation Program, opportunity #: CMS-RHT-26-001.

CDBG Streetscapes

Funding Opportunity Details

Approximately $1,031,297 in federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds are available to cities and counties through the State of Iowa’s Streetscapes Program. Incorporated cities and all counties in the State are eligible for this program's funding only if they are not in a designated HUD entitlement areas and if they have successfully closed out a previous Commercial Facades project with IEDA.

The Streetscapes Program exists to assist communities who have previously been awarded and completed CDBG Downtown Revitalization (DTR) projects in making improvements to their downtown “streetscape” infrastructure. After having completed a DTR grant, a community that wishes to take the next step in revitalizing their downtown area can apply for this program, so long as that community has documented blight in their current streetscape that they are intending to mitigate or the entire community is at least 51% low-to-moderate income (LMI).

Working with a professional engineer, a city will submit designs for everything to be included in the project scope of work.

The SHSI Country School Grant Program provides funding for the preservation and enhancement of Iowa's historical one-room and two-room school buildings. With a maximum award of $5,000 and a total annual allocation of $25,000, the program aims to support projects that contribute to the cultural and economic health of communities. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, governmental units, and individuals, ensuring a broad outreach for preserving Iowa's educational heritage.

The Dr. Ralph and Marian Falk Medical Research Trust – Falk Catalyst Awards support high-risk, high-reward biomedical research with up to $350,000 in funding over one to two years. These awards aim to address critical scientific challenges and enable the translation of innovative research into clinical practices. Projects focus on identifying biological markers, therapeutic targets, and developing interventions to disrupt disease processes, ultimately improving treatment outcomes for patients.

The Native Voices Endowment Grants, managed by the Endangered Language Fund, support the preservation of endangered languages associated with Native American tribes that interacted with the Lewis and Clark Expedition from 1803-1806. Grants are available for language documentation, revitalization, and educational projects, fostering cultural heritage through various initiatives. Eligible applicants include tribal members and language programs, ensuring the continuation of linguistic traditions and community involvement in revitalizing native languages.

Project Lead The Way is offering a rolling grant opportunity for schools across the US to implement the PLTW Gateway program for the first time. With total funding of $9,100, the grant covers participation fees and training registration costs. Schools, including public, private, and charter, are encouraged to apply, particularly those serving low-income and minority majority populations. This initiative aims to enhance educational pathways in STEM for diverse student groups.
