2027 Pathways to Prevention: Community Health Engagement and Care Kit (CHECK) Grant

Overview:

This grant is made possible by funding from the Grants to States program administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Catalyst Fund Grant provided by Lyrasis. This grant aligns with KDLA's Five-Year Plan (2023-2027) to enhance the knowledge and skills of public library staff and support the information needs of all Kentuckians by providing access to resources. 

Goal of the project:

To assist public libraries in supporting health programming and services in their communities. Grant funding can be used to create health kits, purchase technology for telehealth services, and for health-related programming.

Award Information

All grant recipients will receive a laptop for telehealth purposes. KDLA will purchase and deliver the computer to grant recipients. 

The Kentucky Foundation for Women offers the Feminist Artist Career Development Mini Grant, providing up to $500 to support career advancement for feminist artists in Kentucky. Colleen Callahan Professional Development Award

Members are invited to apply for the Professional Development Grant offered by Southeastern Region of the Costume Society of America. Awards will be made at a minimum of $250 with the total award not to exceed $1000. Your project may be on any aspect of costume, any technical skill, or any administrative expertise which will further the mission and purposes of the Costume Society of America. The grant money may be applied to research, a course, workshop fees, or travel.

The Arts Miles Directory Grant connects schools in Kentucky with artistic experiences through approved field trip destinations. Aimed at preschool to 12th-grade students, the grant enhances arts education by providing resources for teachers and fostering student engagement with the arts. Organizations seeking funding must ensure accessibility and demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality artistic experiences. Jim Liles Student Award

 The Jim Liles Student Award is intended to assist students who want to make presentations at a CSA Southeastern Region symposium. These presentations may be on any costume-related topic. The work should be well researched and may or may not be thesis, dissertation, course research project, independent study research, or senior project related. Up to TWO students whose papers are accepted will receive up to $1,000 each to cover travel and other related expenses. The Registration fee will be waived for all student presenters, regardless of whether they receive this award.

The FY26 Defense Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (DEPSCoR) aims to enhance research capabilities in eligible states by increasing the number of university researchers and institutions conducting relevant science and engineering research. Sponsored by the Department of Defense, this program will fund multiyear awards to promote research aligned with national security needs. Applications require a multi-stage submission process, emphasizing early registration and timely proposal submissions.

The FY26 Defense Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (DEPSCoR) Capacity Building opportunity aims to enhance the capabilities of university researchers in eligible states. Managed by the DoD, this initiative focuses on increasing the number of researchers capable of conducting relevant science and engineering research. The program also seeks to strengthen institutions of higher education and improve their competitiveness for federal research funding, ultimately fostering long-term growth in financial assistance for scientific research.

This grant is available year-round, with no application deadline. Recipients must be located within Norfolk Southern territory and are encouraged to apply for resources that will enhance their community projects and initiatives, fostering growth and resilience.

The Kentucky Foundation For Women offers the Art Meets Activism (AMA) Grant to support feminist artists and organizations in Kentucky. This grant encourages applicants to lead community members in participatory art-making activities that promote social change. Emphasizing active engagement in the arts, KFW seeks projects that demonstrate a commitment to feminism and a clear plan for positive social impact, ensuring accessibility for all regardless of background.

The Frankenmuth Insurance Foundation Charitable Grant supports qualified charities focused on community betterment and basic human needs. Founded in 2016, it aims to enhance lives through initiatives such as affordable housing, health programs, and the arts. Organizations eligible for funding must be tax-exempt and serve areas where Frankenmuth Insurance operates. Notably, the foundation excludes support for individuals, political groups, and projects typically financed by governments, ensuring its resources benefit the wider community.

The California Casualty Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grant aims to support public middle and high school sports programs facing funding challenges due to budget cuts. Established by California Casualty, this grant provides financial assistance for purchasing equipment and covering travel costs for competitions. With a one-time funding of $2,000 per AED, this initiative supports the purchase of new devices, replacement of outdated ones, and the establishment of robust emergency response plans. By ensuring accessible AEDs, the grant seeks to improve survival rates during cardiac events on school properties.

Nonprofit youth-serving organizations in Kentucky and other eligible regions can receive donated toys to support children’s play and well-being. The Toy Foundation’s Toy Chest program distributes toy donations through logistics facilities in nearby hubs, allowing approved member organizations to pick up toys quarterly and share them with the children they serve.

Eligible organizations, including advocacy groups and nursing home associations, may utilize CMP funds for projects like resident relocation support and facility improvement initiatives, aiming to advance resident welfare.

The Kentucky Statewide Reserve Fund supports innovative workforce development initiatives under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Funded by the Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board, this program provides financial assistance to local workforce development boards, state agencies, and non-profits. Eligible applicants must be engaged in workforce training activities, while for-profit organizations are ineligible. Applications are accepted monthly, with a focus on enhancing workforce capabilities across the Commonwealth.
