Search Through Mental Health Grants in Massachusetts

Emphasizing collaboration and sustainability, the program aims to enhance access to essential services, particularly in Massachusetts, ensuring the well-being of underserved populations.

The Couch Family Foundation supports nonprofits in the Upper Valley and Martha's Vineyard, focusing on enhancing child and family well-being through equitable opportunities. The foundation prioritizes organizations that demonstrate strong leadership, community impact, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Grants are available for various needs, including general operating, project funding, and capital support, with an emphasis on collaborative community change.

The Robert J. Mullen Charitable Trust, established in 1998, supports nonprofits in Massachusetts that aid disabled children, older adults, and protect animals. With an application deadline of June 1, grants typically range from $20,000 to $50,000, focusing on operating support or program needs. Organizations are encouraged to apply, especially those dedicated solely to the Trust's mission, with grant decisions communicated by the end of September.

The Anthony F. Cordeiro Charitable Foundation Grant aims to support nonprofit organizations in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island that enhance the lives of families and children. Established in 2017, the foundation focuses on providing essential resources such as health services, mental health support, food, and shelter. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations that align with the foundation's mission, ensuring no discrimination in hiring or service provision.

The Edwin Phillips Foundation Grant supports children up to 21 years old with physical, health, or developmental challenges, particularly in Marshfield and Plymouth County, Massachusetts. The foundation aims to assist financially struggling families by providing funding for essential needs such as prosthetic devices and educational assistance. Grants are awarded for charitable purposes, emphasizing the importance of enabling children to remain in their homes. Applications are accepted four times a year, with specific eligibility requirements outlined.

The Boston Scientific Foundation focuses on improving health and educational opportunities for economically disadvantaged individuals, particularly in communities where its employees reside. Its health programs target diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions, emphasizing disease prevention, awareness, access, and quality of care. Organizations eligible for funding must be tax-exempt and serve specific geographic areas while adhering to non-discrimination policies. However, the foundation does not support certain areas, including dental health and political campaigns.

The Beveridge Family Foundation Grant supports initiatives in youth development, health, education, religion, art, and the environment, primarily in Hampden and Hampshire counties, Massachusetts. With two funding cycles each year, applications are due by February 1 and August 1. The Foundation prioritizes organizations that enhance the quality of life and promote self-sufficiency among underserved populations, although it avoids supporting certain areas such as international affairs and awards.

The Somerville Health Foundation RFA aims to enhance primary care and preventive health services for Somerville residents, prioritizing equity principles from the CHA 2022 Regional Wellbeing Report. The Community Experts Fund Grant, provided by the Peter & Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation, aims to improve the lives of young people facing mental health and developmental challenges in targeted counties. With $350,000 available in 2025, the fund emphasizes mentoring initiatives that empower youth-driven goals. By strengthening existing programs, it seeks to build capacity and support young individuals through quality one-on-one mentoring, distinct from traditional case management, addressing the pressing needs of this vulnerable population.

The Sincere Foundation Grant offers up to $25,000 to 501(c)(3) organizations in the USA that provide essential services in Massachusetts, focusing on food security, housing stability, and safe spaces. The Foundation prioritizes programs that address the basic needs of vulnerable populations, supporting initiatives that foster community well-being and resilience. Eligible organizations must have an operating budget of $25 million or less and align with the Foundation's mission to create thriving communities.

The Cummings $30 Million Grant Program will allocate $30 million to 150 local nonprofits in the Greater Boston area in 2026. This program primarily supports organizations focused on human services, social justice, education, healthcare, and environmental initiatives. Eligible applicants must be based in specific Massachusetts counties and provide services within those areas. The program does not fund requests related to the arts, culture, or animal welfare, ensuring resources are directed to pressing community needs.

Yawkey Foundation

The story of Tom and Jean Yawkey and their impact on the lives of children and families goes back over eight decades to the commitments they made to the people of Massachusetts, New England, and Georgetown County, South Carolina. The Yawkeys’ love for these communities, and their quiet sense of responsibility for those in need, is captured in the careful steps they took to ensure that their legacy would live on through the work of the Yawkey Foundation. The Yawkeys were perhaps best known for their longtime ownership of the Boston Red Sox. More quietly, but with just as much passion and commitment, Tom and Jean Yawkey were also engaged in an unwavering dedication to those most in need.

Today, the Yawkey Foundation remains as committed as ever to continuing to honor Tom and Jean Yawkey and their commitment to those in need. Having awarded more than $620 million to-date in charitable grants to organizations focused on Health Care, Education, Human Services, Youth and Amateur Athletics, Arts and Culture, and Conservation and Wildlife, the Yawkey Foundation is committed to preserving and sustaining the charitable values of the Yawkeys by investing in impactful nonprofits providing resources, opportunity, and dignity to the vulnerable and underserved.

Program and Small Capital Grants

Program and Small Capital Grants support high-impact, strategic, and responsive nonprofit organizations in delivering their core missions through discrete and timebound projects. Program & Small Capital Grants help address an immediate need that is critical to the organization’s work.

Program and Small Capital Grants may fund a discrete timebound program need, one small project, or a piece of equipment aligned with a nonprofit’s purpose. These grants are extremely competitive, and the Yawkey Foundation will receive many more compelling Initial Proposals than it will be able to fund. Initial Proposals should demonstrate an awareness of and alignment with the Yawkey Foundation’s mission and Areas of Giving. Additionally, the most competitive Initial Proposals will reflect a nonprofit’s strong leadership and proven impact in providing direct services and programs for unmet needs in underserved regions aligned with the Yawkey Foundation’s geographic priority areas, including Gateway Cities in Eastern Massachusetts.

Nonprofits may submit only one Initial Proposal to the Yawkey Foundation during a calendar year, irrespective of the Type of Grant. Organizations that have not been previously funded by the Foundation in recent years are encouraged to submit Initial Proposals for Program & Small Capital Grants to familiarize the Foundation with its work before submitting an Initial Proposal for Strategic Investment or Transformational Capital.

Health Care Support

Access to high quality health care, particularly for those disadvantaged members of the community, was an issue of great importance to Tom and Jean Yawkey. Tom Yawkey was instrumental in the founding of Georgetown Memorial Hospital, which brought much-needed health care to the rural area of Georgetown, South Carolina. In addition, the Yawkeys first lent their extraordinary support to Dr. Sidney Farber by initiating the Red Sox relationship with Dr. Farber, and laid the groundwork for establishment of The Jimmy Fund in 1953. That relationship lasted throughout both of their lifetimes and continues to this day.

The Yawkey Foundation continues to support medical institutions, including transformational construction and renovation projects to help leading medical institutions expand their footprints and ability to provide expert medical care. Understanding the real link between medical needs and behavioral health needs, particularly in children, the Foundation has also played a leading role in supporting organizations providing access to behavioral and mental health treatment programs. 

The Greater Merrimack Valley Efforts Horne Family Foundation Grant focuses on enhancing community services in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. With a commitment to Human Services, Environment, and Wildlife, the foundation supports initiatives aiding at-risk youth, the homeless, and victims of abuse. It provides operational support and funding for innovative programs, prioritizing conservation, health, and welfare in upcoming grant cycles. The foundation encourages eligible organizations to apply for grants that align with its mission and values.

The Reliant Foundation Community Grants support charitable initiatives from 501(c)3 non-profits in Central and MetroWest Massachusetts. Priority is given to programs addressing substance use disorders and mental health services for youth. Collaborations aligned with Community Health Improvement Plans are encouraged. Grants are not available for individuals, for-profit businesses, or funding specific salaries. This initiative aims to enhance the health and wellbeing of all community members.

The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation focuses on enhancing community well-being through grants that prioritize low-to-moderate income populations. Key funding areas include affordable housing, children and youth programs, financial education, workforce development, and small business support. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) public charities located in Massachusetts or Rhode Island. Funding is directed towards initiatives that promote safety, education, and economic opportunity, ensuring a positive impact on the communities served.

The Latino Equity Fund Grant, established by the Boston Foundation, aims to empower the Latinx community in Greater Boston through one-time $25,000 grants to 20 nonprofit organizations. Focused on enhancing their well-being and economic mobility, the fund prioritizes initiatives in basic needs such as housing stability and healthcare access, as well as economic mobility programs like job readiness and professional credentialing. This initiative fosters local partnerships and addresses community needs effectively.

The MMS&A Charitable Foundation provides organizational grants aimed at promoting equitable health outcomes for marginalized communities. They focus on funding non-profit organizations that deliver quality healthcare services to the un- and underinsured, as well as enhancing behavioral health services. Eligible organizations must be tax-exempt and have limited government funding. Capital campaigns, for-profit entities, and discriminatory practices are not supported. The foundation prefers innovative proposals over repeat requests, emphasizing new programs to address health inequities.

The Summer Fund Grant, established in 1971 by Philanthropy Massachusetts, supports summer camps and enrichment programs for underserved youth in Greater Boston. It offers General Operating Grants to help nonprofits with operational costs, alongside a Mental Health Grant Program addressing youth mental health needs and the Homeless Campership Fund, which subsidizes camp fees for homeless youth. Eligible organizations must meet specific criteria, ensuring impactful support for local communities.

The Boston Scientific Foundation aims to enhance health and educational opportunities for economically disadvantaged individuals, particularly in STEM fields. Their grant program focuses on K-12 students, requiring at least 50% of participants to be at or below 185% of the poverty line. The foundation seeks evidence-based proposals that can measure improvements in STEM learning, and it prioritizes applications serving communities near Boston Scientific locations, ensuring inclusivity and non-discrimination in service.

The Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation is dedicated to empowering children and young adults affected by substance use disorders, learning disabilities, mental illness, and intellectual disabilities. Their Programs & Services Grants support initiatives within Erie and Niagara Counties in New York and parts of Massachusetts, focusing on enhancing community capabilities and improving quality of life. Note that applications for certain grant cycles are paused for the remainder of 2025 as the foundation shifts towards emergency response funding.

The Harold Brooks Foundation, established in 1984, supports nonprofit organizations that enhance the lives of South Shore residents in Massachusetts. Focused on five key areas—education, food and nutrition, health, housing, and mental health—the Foundation aims to address the basic human needs of the community. By funding impactful programs, it seeks to assist the underserved and improve the overall well-being of the region's residents.
