About Bush Prize: Minnesota

The Bush Prize program identifies and honors extraordinary organizations that consistently engage and lead their community toward creative solutions, provides them with flexible support to keep doing that work, and supports them to amplify their story to inspire others.

In 2026, two organizations will be selected as Bush Prize: Minnesota honorees. Honorees will receive an award of $250,000. The award is unrestricted and can be used for any charitable purposes in the state of Minnesota, including operating costs, program-related expenses, capital expenditures or whatever else would best support the organization's ongoing work.

The Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation was selected as the community grant partner for Minnesota and began implementing Bush Prize: Minnesota in 2024. The Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation operates Bush Prize: Minnesota as a Community Grant Partner of the Bush Foundation.

History of Creative Solutions

Bush Prize: Minnesota honors organizations which have at least three years of history using innovative approaches that offer real solutions for the challenges and issues affecting their community. Bush Prize finalists will be able to identify specific examples of processes, programs or projects that use creative approaches, technologies, collaborations, and methods to drive sustainable change and solve problems more effectively.

Community-led Solutions

Bush Prize: Minnesota honors organizations which understand that communities are best positioned to articulate and effectively respond to today's challenges. Bush Prize finalists will show a consistent commitment to listen, engage and involve the community to ensure the people they serve inform, form and benefit from the organization’s impact.

• Benefits - The community served realizes significant impact and change for the issues and challenges they identify as most critical to them.
• Informs - Work should be shaped by input from the community itself. This means the organization listens to the experiences, needs, and feedback from the community it serves to align its goals and initiatives with the actual needs and priorities of the community.
• Forms - Beyond being informed by the community, the community has an active role in shaping the work. The community is directly involved in designing and implementing programs and solutions, and the organization’s work reflects the values, culture, and strengths of the community.

Bush Prize finalists will articulate how their organization’s values, policies, practices, people and partnerships allow them to innovate and utilize community assets and resources in creative ways to develop sustainable solutions to community issues.

Bush Prize: Minnesota honors organizations which have created meaningful, long-lasting change to address the challenges and issues affecting their community. Transformational impact can happen through ideas of all sizes, within communities of all sizes, and through organizations of all sizes. Bush Prize finalists will have approaches and outcomes that:

• Challenge the status quo and address the root causes of significant community issues and systemic challenges.
• Create sustainable and equitable solutions for community, particularly for communities which have been historically underserved.
• Inspire others in the region and serve as a model for future success.

The SEARCH Grant provides essential support for very small, financially distressed rural communities by funding predevelopment feasibility studies and technical assistance for water and waste disposal projects. Eligible applicants include state and local governments, nonprofits, and federally recognized tribes. Funds can be used for feasibility studies, design analysis, and technical help in securing financial assistance, ensuring improvements in rural infrastructure and community health.

Kansas Association of Independent Crop Consultants Scholarship Fund

The Kansas Association of Independent Crop Consultants created this scholarship fund to award to a qualified individual majoring in an agricultural field.

Full-Service Community Schools Competitive Grant Opportunity

Grant Purpose

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to increase the number and capacities of evidence-based, effective and sustainable full-service community schools across Minnesota. These investments will expand systemic supports for students, families, and communities across Minnesota.

Funding

This grant opportunity estimates that $4.9 million is available to fund approximately 8-10 three-year grant awards under Laws of Minnesota 2025 1st Spec. Sess. chapter 10, article 2, section 24, subdivision 11.

The maximum grant award may not exceed $600,000 per school site ($1,800,000 per eligible entity); the minimum grant award is $375,000 per school site.

The McKnight Fellowships for Community-Engaged Artists, supported by the McKnight Foundation, provide annual unrestricted cash awards to outstanding mid-career Minnesota artists. This fellowship focuses on artists who utilize their practice for social or cultural transformation, offering significant financial assistance and professional development opportunities. Functional Family Therapy (FFT) Training and Implementation

Objective of RFP

The Minnesota Department of Human Services, through its Behavioral Health Administration (STATE), is seeking Proposals from qualified Responders to provide Functional Family Therapy (FFT) training, implementation support, and fidelity monitoring to service providers across Minnesota. The selected responder will provide training, certification, technical assistance, and oversight to qualified provider agencies delivering FFT services to youth and families referred through county agencies and courts.

The grantee will not directly provide therapy to families. The overall goal is to improve family functioning and reduce out-of-home placements for youth ages 10–18.

Funding for this initiative is anticipated to support training, supervision, and fidelity monitoring activities associated with FFT implementation. Allowable costs include staff salaries, benefits, travel, technology, and administrative expenses directly tied to FFT training, supervision, and fidelity monitoring activities.

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is providing funding to implement Source Water Protection (SWP) plans, including approved wellhead protection and surface water intake protection plans. This initiative, funded by Clean Water Fund appropriations, aims to assist Public Water Suppliers (PWSs) in executing their SWP measures effectively. Grants will also be available for PWSs without existing SWP plans to enhance water safety and sustainability throughout Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) offers Source Water Protection Grants to support noncommunity transient public water systems. These systems, serving an average of at least 25 individuals daily for at least 60 days a year, are eligible for funding aimed at addressing high-risk contamination sources. The Water and Waste Facility Loans and Grants program aims to provide safe drinking water and waste disposal services to low-income communities on Tribal lands, addressing significant health risks. Eligible applicants include federally-recognized Tribes, state and local governments, and nonprofit organizations. Funding can be used for constructing essential water and waste systems, and while matching funds are typically required, a full grant is possible under certain conditions. Applications are accepted year-round.

The Minnesota Department of Health is offering funding for water-bottle filling stations to enhance public health. These hydration stations will provide optimal fluoride levels, remove lead from drinking water, and offer healthy alternatives to sugary drinks, particularly in areas lacking access to nutritious beverage options.
