The Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi manages 314 donor-established funds and has disbursed over $48 million to support more than 1,000 charitable organizations and activities recommended by its donors, as well as charitable programs established by the foundation. Established in 2002 with a generous grant from the Maddox Foundation, the Community Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 charitable organization. The Specialist Professional provides support and guidance to parents/caregivers in navigating the child serving systems and advocating with them to help their child/youth.

The Department of Mental Health, Bureau of Behavioral Health Services/ Division of Peer Recovery and Support is now accepting funding proposals for the state fiscal year 2027. This proposal application is eligible to all Mississippi Department of Mental Health (DMH) certified providers in good standing. The selected organization will need to be aligned with national best practices and standards and approved by the MS Department of Mental Health. However, DMH certification is not a guarantee of funding. All submitted proposals will be evaluated by a panel of reviewers using the posted competitive grant scoring rubric. Not all submitted proposals may be funded, but comprehensive feedback will be provided to all providers, particularly if their application was not funded for the current fiscal year.

The funding associated with this grant opportunity is meant to defray a proportion of operational costs for the service.

Cash requests will only be signed and processed for payment after the Department of Mental Health has received required data outcomes and/or metrics specific to the respective grant.

A Certified Peer Support Specialist – Mental Health/Substance Use (CPSS-MH/SU) is an adult with lived experience involving mental health and/or substance use conditions who demonstrate his/her own success in self-directed recovery. The purpose of this grant is to support the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of a statewide peer support services program that strengthens the behavioral health workforce, expands access to peer-delivered services, and promotes recovery-oriented systems of care. The selected provider will develop standardized training curriculum, deliver education and outreach activities, and provide operational support to sustain high-quality peer support services throughout the state.

Arts in Community Grants

Program Description

Arts in Community Grants are designed to support deeper engagements between Southern communities and artists. Through these grants supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, we aim to increase access to the arts, expand audiences for artists, and broaden our reach. Eligible projects require a Southern artist/company visiting another Southern state for public activities, offering access to arts programming by professional artists. Funding supports Southern film directors, traditional artists, visual artists, performing artists, or writers:

• film (documentary, fiction, experimental, and animation),
• traditional arts (music, dance, storytelling, and visual arts/crafts),
• visual arts (crafts, drawing, experimental, painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media),
• performing arts (theater, music, opera, musical theater, and dance), and
• literary arts (fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry).

Projects require an artist or artist ensemble and a host or partner organization. Project must include at least two in-person or live, virtual public activities – both a public presentation (a film screening, performance, reading, or exhibition) and an educational/community engagement activity (a workshop, demonstration, lecture, facilitated discussion, or master class). The grant requires a dollar-for-dollar cash match.

The Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant supports entry-level athletics administrative positions for one academic year, promoting diversity in NCAA Division II. It provides $30,000 for intern salaries and $3,000 for professional development, benefiting six schools annually from a total budget of $180,000. Eligible applicants must be active NCAA members, with a focus on enhancing ethnic minority and gender representation in athletics administration. The Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation's Healthy School Awards program acknowledges public K-12 schools that implement health-promoting policies and programs.
