Bromley Educational Scholarship

In her will, Mrs. Deane Bromley Hastings established a scholarship to honor members of the Bromley family. Recipients are residents of the City of Wabash, Indiana, and are chosen from among the students most likely to succeed in post-secondary education.

George W. and Donna Mae Russell Scholarship Endowment

George and Donna Russell wanted to make a difference for the future, so instead of investments for themselves, they invested in students who will go off to college and return with a good education and great ideas for their community. When George Russell died in 2001, he left part of a farm to the Community Foundation of Wabash County. The sale of the farm was used to establish an annual scholarship for a worthy student from a Wabash County high school who is pursuing a degree or a vocational education. Applicants are selected based on financial need, academic achievement, moral character, leadership, and attitude toward school and community.

John L. Eckert Memorial Educational Scholarship Endowment

Family and friends of John Eckert established The John L. Eckert Memorial Scholarship Endowment to memorialize the life of John and his dedication to education. Mr. Eckert was Manchester Community School’s superintendent from 1982 to 1992. From 1971 to 1982, he was the superintendent for the Rochester Community School Corporation, and before that Mr. Eckert was a teacher for Huntington Community Schools and for Southwood High School.

The ACI Foundation Concrete Materials Fellowship supports students pursuing careers in concrete materials, providing a $10,000 educational stipend for tuition and related expenses. Open to undergraduate and graduate students, this fellowship emphasizes innovation in concrete applications for new construction and repairs. Recipients gain industry recognition and mentorship, and are encouraged to complete internships. With a commitment to fostering future leaders, the fellowship promotes personal development and career readiness in the concrete industry.

The ACI Foundation Fellowship supports undergraduate and graduate students pursuing careers in the concrete industry. Annually, ten fellowships are awarded, each providing a $10,000 educational stipend for tuition and related expenses. Recipients also receive recognition in Concrete International magazine, travel support for ACI conventions, and mentorship opportunities. Students from U.S., Canada, or Mexico can apply, and proficiency in English is required. The fellowship aims to foster the next generation of leaders in concrete innovation.

The S.P. Shah Fellowship, offered by the ACI Foundation, supports PhD students focused on concrete materials with a $10,000 stipend for educational expenses. Recipients gain recognition in Concrete International magazine, mentorship, and coverage for travel to ACI conventions. The fellowship encourages international students attending institutions in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico, and requires no internship. Robert & Pauline Hoover Scholarship Fund

The Robert and Pauline Hoover Scholarship was established in 2006 as part of Robert’s estate plan after he died. Robert had a degree in banking from Columbia University in New York City. When he finished his graduate degree, he came back to his native Chester Township to engage in farming and banking. Robert was the North Manchester Kiwanis Star of Service recipient and had a passion for civic and business affairs.

The ACI Foundation offers the Robert F. Mast Memorial Fellowship for graduate students in structural engineering, focusing on reinforced concrete design. This prestigious fellowship includes a $10,000 educational stipend, recognition in Concrete International magazine, coverage of travel expenses to ACI conventions, and mentorship opportunities. International students enrolled in institutions in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico are eligible, provided they demonstrate English proficiency. The fellowship aims to support the next generation of leaders in the concrete industry.

The Performing Arts Global Exchange Grant (PAGE) fosters international performing arts in the U.S., promoting cultural understanding through diverse programming. It offers support to nonprofit presenters who engage artists from a curated roster, focusing on underrepresented regions like Morocco and South Africa. Grants require public performances and community interaction, emphasizing outreach to underserved areas. Number and Size of Awards

One award of $4,000; paid as $1,000 per year for up to four consecutive years of undergraduate study. Award paid in the Fall and divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters. ***Offered in even years. ***

Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other expenses associated with higher education.

This scholarship supports a student that demonstrates financial need, but is not eligible for a Pell grant. Candidates for this scholarship will have a weighted GPA between 3.0 and 4.0 and be attending an accredited institution, including vocational, technical, trade, college, or university schools.

Mary Evelyn and Harry Laurent Scholarship

The applicant must be a graduating senior or a graduate of a public or private high school in Henderson and shall graduate in the top 25 percent of his or her graduating high school class. Student must be a candidate for an associate, bachelor, advanced, or professional degree from a fully accredited college, university, technical institute, or community college. Although a specific vocational objective is not necessary, the recipient should evidence a clear-cut educational objective in their course of study.

Martha Sales Schoch Scholarship

Applicant must be enrolled as a senior in a public, parochial or private school or be a graduate of such school and intend to enroll in a degree-granting program in an accredited college, university, community college or technical school. Applicant must be an active member of Fletcher United Methodist Church for two years prior to applying for this scholarship. Applicant should have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and a minimum SAT score of 800. The applicant should demonstrate financial need and should demonstrate involvement in United Methodist activities. Applicant must be of good moral character and reflect a willingness to work, learn, and pursue an education.

Scholarships

The Bedford Community Health Foundation offers a variety of scholarships for individuals pursuing certification, degrees, and advanced degrees in health-related fields. Students can be full-time nursing students, employed nurses seeking additional education, full-time allied health students, employed health providers wanting to specialize and high school students enrolled in the Governor’s Health Academy at Susie G. Gibson Science & Technology Center.

David W. and Sandra L.R. Boyes Physician Education Scholarship

The David W. and Sandra L. R. Boyes Physician Education Scholarship is for health professionals and specialists who seek continuing education in the field of gerontology. It is the only scholarship that does not require graduates to pursue employment in the Town or County of Bedford. This scholarship is open to specialists of all kinds including Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, Physicians Assistants, Osteopaths and Registered Nurses.

David and Sandra Boyes promoted health and healthy living throughout their careers and in volunteer roles during their retirements. David held a BA Degree in Math and Chemistry. He worked at Owens Corning and at Piedmont Label in Bedford. Sandra, in addition to her BSN degree, held a Ph.D. in Education which enabled her to actively pursue her two passions – education and medicine. In Bedford, she taught in the Bedford Memorial Hospital LPN school of Nursing from 1969 to 1986. She taught in Bedford County schools from 1986 to 1990. David was killed in a tragic accident in 2006. Sandra continued their shared vision of impacting health care for seniors through the creation of this scholarship.

Applicant must be an African-American student with financial need who wishes to pursue his or her education.

The McCarthey Dressman Education Foundation offers Academic Enrichment Grants to support innovative educational programs that enhance student learning for low-income children. These grants, up to $10,000 per year for two years, aim to foster creativity and critical thinking in K-12 education. Applications are accepted from educators at nonprofit organizations who engage with students directly. The initiative emphasizes collaboration and seeks projects that enrich academic experiences and inspire student curiosity.

The JUF Springboard Access Grant aims to make Jewish programming more accessible for teens in grades 8-12 in the Chicago area. This grant covers up to 50% of the tuition costs for first-time participants in multi-day programs organized by approved Jewish nonprofits. It encourages teens to engage with their community and explore new interests while ensuring financial barriers are lowered. Eligible teens are expected to share their experiences with the organization after participating.

Lorina Culpepper Career in Nursing Scholarship

Candidates for this scholarship will be currently employed in the nursing field in Henderson County and pursuing an advanced certificate or degree in nursing.
