Shelby County Youth Soccer Scholarship

Selection based upon (in order of priority): 

• Soccer involvement as a player, referee, and/or coach, demonstrated passion for soccer, a recommendation letter from a soccer coach or soccer mentor is REQUIRED, and an additional essay of no less than 100 words and no more than 200 words on a designated topic.

Awards

• Two $1,000 scholarships – One to a male applicant and one to a female applicant.

The Walking College Fellowship, offered by America Walks, is an innovative online program aimed at empowering community champions to enhance walkability. Participants engage in six modules, committing 5-10 hours weekly, to develop actionable plans addressing local challenges. Over 200 alumni have successfully implemented initiatives such as sidewalk installations and complete streets policies. The Dalsemer Interstitial Lung Disease Award, funded by the American Lung Association, provides $50,000 per year for two years to support junior investigators researching interstitial lung disease. This award aims to foster independence in early-career scientists while building on the Association's 120-year legacy of improving lung health through innovative research and advocacy efforts, ultimately enhancing the lives of those affected by lung disease.

The Arthur F. Burns Fellowship offers journalists from the U.S., Canada, and Germany a unique opportunity to enhance their skills through a two-month exchange program. Participants engage in a structured orientation in Washington, D.C., followed by hands-on training at German media outlets. The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region

The Community Foundation is a devoted advocate for the vitality and well-being of the Rappahannock River Region. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that manages and distributes charitable giving in the counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, and Caroline, and the City of Fredericksburg.

Scholarships

One of The Community Foundation’s strategies for preserving and growing the quality of life in our region is supporting higher education for area students. Generous individuals and families, companies and organizations establish endowed scholarship funds and the proceeds from these funds benefit deserving students. Donors work with foundation staff to determine appropriate criteria for each fund. The Community Foundation currently administers more than fifty scholarship funds.

The Robert H. Bradley, Jr. Memorial Golf Scholarship Fund

This scholarship fund was established in December 2013 by M.J. Bradley, Bob Bradley’s wife of 38 years, and his many friends, family members and golf buddies.

Robert Holyman Bradley, Jr., known to all as Bob, grew up in Clifton Forge, Virginia. He moved to the Fredericksburg area in 1971 but never lessened his close ties to his hometown. Sports were a major part of Bob’s life from an early age. Bob and his brother David began playing baseball as children and he was known to love – and excel at – basketball, football and especially golf.

Family members, friends and colleagues admired Bob for his seemingly endless resources of strength and positive energy – in his golf game, in the face of serious health concerns and, indeed, in life. Bob battled kidney failure, which included two transplant surgeries and five years of dialysyis, as well as cancer with dignity, determination and humor.

This scholarship is intended to memorialize Bob Bradley and his lifetime passion for golf. Bob “lived and breathed” golf. He lived next to the Country Club where he was a thirty-five year member, an organizational leader and a very active player. Bob was a successful player at that. He and his brother won the Fredericksburg Country Club member/guest tournament so many times they influenced the club to change the tournament format. He won the club championship on two occasions and he also won the Virginia State Golf Association Championship as part of a two-man team.

The NIMH Career Transition Award (K22) supports tenure-track intramural investigators at NIMH in their transition to independent research faculty positions. This program aims to foster innovative research in mental health, encouraging applicants with a strong record of research excellence. The funding opportunity is available through various deadlines for both standard and renewal applications, promoting multi-level strategies to address these critical health issues effectively.

The Hawai‘i Community Foundation is honored to provide a wealth of financial support to qualified students and nonprofit organizations throughout Hawai‘i.

Leticia Diniega Health Care Scholarship Fund

The Leticia Diniega Health Care Scholarship Fund was created to provide scholarship grants to students seeking higher education.

The NCAA Jim McKay Graduate Scholarship honors the legacy of journalist Jim McKay by awarding a one-time $10,000 scholarship to one male and one female student-athlete annually. Eligible candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.5, demonstrate integrity, and show interest in sports communication. There is no limit to the number of nominations from institutions, highlighting the NCAA's commitment to supporting student-athletes in their academic and professional pursuits.

The Lawrence A. Taylor Research Fund in Petrology and Geochemistry offers financial support to two PhD students demonstrating outstanding research in Petrology and/or Geochemistry. Funded by Dong-Hwa Shin (Dawn) Taylor, this grant aims to alleviate some financial burdens associated with their doctoral studies, fostering excellence in these critical fields. Eligible candidates must be AGU student members currently enrolled in relevant doctoral programs and engaged in applicable research.

Applicants may receive up to three years of funding for pharmacokinetics and bioavailability studies, with potential for an additional three years to evaluate clinical outcomes. The NCCIH Natural Product Early Phase Clinical Trial Award supports innovative clinical trials of natural products, such as botanicals and dietary supplements, with a strong scientific basis. Applications are encouraged to explore optimal delivery methods and combinations with other treatments. Funding is available for up to three years to assess the impact on target engagement and clinical outcomes, aiming to translate basic science findings into practical clinical applications.

The NCCIH Natural Product Mid Phase Clinical Trial (R01 Clinical Trial Required) grant invites applications for mid-phase clinical trials focusing on natural products such as botanicals and dietary supplements. It aims to advance scientific knowledge by determining optimal dosing and patient responses. Applicants must provide preliminary data demonstrating bioavailability and measurable impacts on target engagement. This initiative will not support efficacy trials for cancer treatments and encourages early contact with NCCIH scientific contacts.

The Molly Gill Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Molly Gill Memorial Scholarship is awarded to any area graduating high school senior who has excelled with a physical disability.

This scholarship was established in memory of Molly Gill, who was a quadriplegic as the result of an accident. Molly faced her daily challenges with courage, and a determination to further her education and become independent. Molly Gill embraced the goodness of each day and her spirit is best summarized by the following quote: “I can always say, ‘what if?’ But, I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere with that."
