Nicholas Gaynor Memorial Fund
A scholarship opportunity to provide financial support to local North State students seeking a career in nursing.
The Nicholas Gaynor Memorial Fund was created by his mother, Maureen, and Grandmother, Patricia, to honor the life of Nicholas.
Nicholas was born with a rare heart condition, Tetralogy of Fallot. He died at home in December 1988 after complications from open heart surgery at Stanford University Medical Center, at the age of 18 months old. The nursing staff at Stanford were phenomenal in caring for Nicholas and providing support to the family at such a tragic time. To honor Nicholas’ short life and the nursing team, this scholarship will be used to provide financial support to local students seeking a career in nursing.

This is a scholarship established in 1991 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation and renamed in 2024 to honor an outstanding longtime Kiwanian and Cobb County community leader Mack Henderson.

Selection emphasis will be placed on academic achievement and character, with priority given to current or former Cobb or Marietta students.

All applicants must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.50. The award is based on Academics, Leadership Qualities, Extracurricular School Activities, Character, Community Service, Personal Integrity, and Financial Need. Special consideration will be given to members of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. This scholarship is given by the family of Caroline Cobey Goodwin, in loving memory of Ms. Mary Smith Gay.

This scholarship is awarded to a college sophomore, junior, or senior or a graduate student who is majoring in plant pathology or has demonstrated an interest in vegetable crop production or a related field. Preference will be given to a student who can demonstrate evidence of an association with the Rutgers University Agricultural Research and Extension Center.

Students will be evaluated on academic performance and unmet financial need.

Michael Malone Memorial Scholarship
For a resident of Baldwin County, AL. Graduate of any accredited high school including public schools, private schools, parochial schools and home schools. The student must be the son or daughter of a parent(s) who is an employed member of a Law Enforcement Agency that operates within Baldwin County or a student who plans to major in a Law Enforcement field, i.e., Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, etc. Students must have academic achievements necessary for entry into an accredited college or university. Students’ need, academic performance and community service will all be considered in the selection process.
