The Indian Affairs Department (IAD) is a Cabinet Level agency within the Executive Branch of the State of New Mexico.

The Indian Affairs Department (IAD) is a cabinetlevel agency within the Executive Branch of the State of New Mexico, leading change through a variety of programs and administration of funding opportunities. IAD investigates and addresses the health, economy, education and legislative impacts affecting Indian conditions and relations in New Mexico.

IAD collaborates with other state agencies, promotes public participation and serves as the clearinghouse for all state programs impacting Indian communities.

Youth Council Special Project

Purpose

IAD has funding available to support activities and/or projects of Youth Councils in NPTs in New Mexico. Eligible projects and/or activities include the creation or expansion of Youth Councils; opportunities for Youth Council members to participate in cultural activities that can increase their skills, influence their communities and learn about governance; and/or providing outreach and training to youth peers on Youth Council initiatives in NPTs.

Grid Modernization Grant Program

The State of New Mexico, Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD) Energy Conservation and Management Division (ECAM) is requesting applications pursuant to 17.9.588 New Mexico Administrative Code (NMAC), Grid Modernization Grant Program, from government entities for grid modernization projects to assist New Mexico in developing a modern electric grid that transitions the state to 100-percent zero-carbon electricity resources.

Grid modernization projects are those that make improvements to electric distribution or transmission infrastructure to accommodate or facilitate the integration of renewable electric generation resources with the electric distribution grid or otherwise enhance electric distribution or transmission grid reliability, grid security, demand response capability, customer service or energy efficiency or conservation.

Creative Support Organization Grant

This funding opportunity is designed for organizations with a demonstrated history of impactful work in supporting creative entrepreneurs and advancing creative industry development across New Mexico. This includes organizations that support creative industry companies and workers. Whether building networks, offering technical assistance, providing creative business incubation, or strengthening regional creative ecosystems, this grant supports continued leadership in growing New Mexico’s creative economy. Native American Preparatory Scholars Fund

The Native American Preparatory Scholars (NAPS) Fund was established in 2012 from the remaining assets of the former Native American Preparatory School located in Rowe, NM. The purpose of the fund is to support programs that increase the number of New Mexico Native American students who shall aspire to, be prepared for, and graduate from colleges and universities.

It provides loans and grants to Microenterprise Development Organizations (MDOs) to:

It promotes the recovery of endangered species, enhances biodiversity, and improves carbon sequestration. The Anne and Tony Hillerman Scholarship, part of the New Mexico Press Women Scholarship Fund, supports New Mexico students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in journalism or communications.
