Agnes McCarthy Caregiver Foundation

The Agnes McCarthy Caregiver Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charity that provides hope and relief to caregivers who care for a loved one with mental health conditions.

Caregiver Grant

Family caregiving has become a public health issue that receives inadequate recognition in our country. While it can be rewarding to care for our loved ones, it often comes with significant physical, emotional and financial costs to the caregiver. On average, caregivers spend over 25% of their own income to support their loved one and provide 32 hours a week in unpaid care.

AMCF currently offers a $500 financial relief grant to assist family members with unexpected expenses due to their caregiving role. If you are a family caregiver to someone living with a mood or psychiatric condition like depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar, schizophrenia, or other mental health/co-occurring conditions, you are not alone, and we welcome you to apply for a caregiver grant today.

Additional Information

• To ensure our limited funds reach families with the greatest need, grants may require documentation confirming a diagnosed serious mental illness (SMI).  

• The $500 grant is limited to one award per household within a 12-month period.

• Applications are generally reviewed by our Board of Directors, with decisions made within 30 days of receipt.

The top awardee will be named the Howard S. Silverman Scholar, receiving an additional $1,000 stipend. AHA membership is required by April 3, 2025, to apply.

The Ryan Myers Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by the Community Foundation of Washington County, MD, supports graduating seniors from various educational backgrounds in Washington County. Ideal candidates reflect Ryan's positive spirit and aspirations, aiming to make a meaningful impact in their communities while achieving their academic and career goals.

AMS Organology Study Group Travel Grants

The AMS Organology Study Group Travel Grants program provides travel grants to support AMS Annual Meeting attendance for students and recent graduates with research interests in organology and/or other intersections of music and material culture studies. In addition to supporting attendance at the annual meeting, this program also introduces recipients to a network of scholars working in the field of organology. In 2026, selected recipients will not receive travel grants because the 2026 AMS Annual Meeting is being held online, but will instead receive complimentary registration for the conference. The 2026 AMS Annual Meeting will be held 14–15 November and 19–20 November 2026.

The purpose of the program is to defray costs associated with attending the AMS Annual Meeting and participating in Organology Study Group (OSG) activities. Recipients will be required to attend the Organology Study Group's paper session at the 2026 AMS Annual Meeting.

The Organology Study Group Travel Grants program was established in 2024 with the generous support of the American Musical Instrument Society (AMIS). In addition to complimentary registration for the 2026 AMS Annual Meeting, recipients will receive one year of complimentary membership in the AMIS.

The American Heart Association offers $2,000 scholarships for students researching cerebrovascular disease and stroke. These funds are paid directly to the recipient's institution. Additionally, scholarship winners may qualify for a $750 travel grant to attend the International Stroke Conference, provided they present an accepted co-authored abstract. Eligibility includes being a member of the AHA and studying in accredited programs focused on cardiovascular disease.

The AACR June L. Biedler Prize for Cancer Journalism

Prize Summary

The AACR June L. Biedler Prize for Cancer Journalism was established by the AACR in 2015 to raise awareness of the critical role that the media play in educating the public about cancer and cancer research.

Funded by a major bequest to the AACR from cancer research pioneer Dr. June L. Biedler, a scientist, mentor, and former member of the AACR Board of Directors, this prize showcases outstanding examples of cancer journalism and recognizes individual professional journalists who have produced accurate, informative, and compelling stories that enhance the public’s understanding of cancer, cancer research, cancer advocacy, or cancer policy.

The prize provides an unrestricted cash award of $5,000 and a commemorative award.

Eligible applicants include nonprofits and local governments, with funding ranging from $10,000 to $75,000. Projects should align with broader wildfire strategies and require a 100% cash or in-kind match, promoting inclusive and effective community mitigation approaches.

The 'Repurposing Research for Chicago - Track 1 – Health Equity' grant, offered by Cures Within Reach, aims to fund clinical repurposing trials addressing health disparities among underrepresented populations. With a budget of up to $100,000, it encourages trials led by underrepresented researchers or focusing on women's health. The CRCF: Mental Wellness in Cattaraugus County Fund aims to support programs that enhance mental wellness in Cattaraugus County. Grants are available to 501(c)(3) organizations and licensed mental health practitioners. The fund specifically excludes funding for operational costs, salaries, marketing, and other specified areas. Applications are accepted annually, with a deadline of September 1. This initiative reflects the mission of the former Mental Health Association in Cattaraugus County.

Launched in 2023, Entrada DREAMS is a competitive annual grant program designed to fund efforts within the Duchenne muscular dystrophy community to better identify, understand and reach those who are currently underrepresented and underserved.

This year, two nonprofit organizations will each receive a $50,000 USD grant to fund projects that advance equity, accessibility and inclusion for individuals with Duchenne. Entrada will award one grant to a U.S.-based nonprofit and another to a nonprofit in the UK or EU.

The Emergency Mental Health Micro Grants, offered by the Indie Theater Fund NYC, provide $500 to NYC-based indie theater artists for mental health expenses such as therapy and medication. This initiative aims to reduce barriers to care, ensuring that artists receive the necessary support for their mental well-being. Priority is given to BIPOC, Trans/Non-Binary, disabled, and immigrant artists, fostering inclusivity within the arts community.

The Food Access and Retail Expansion (FARE) Fund Grant, part of America’s Healthy Food Financing Initiative, aims to enhance access to nutritious food in underserved regions. With a budget of $60 million over five years, the initiative supports innovative fresh food retail projects, offering grants and loans to address barriers in food access. This funding is crucial for catalyzing sustainable food enterprises and improving local food systems, ultimately fostering healthier communities.

The EMF Family Building Grants, offered by the Expect Miracles Foundation, support young adult cancer survivors in their fertility treatment and family-building efforts. These grants are designed for applicants with a clear family-building plan and financial strategy, helping bridge the gap in costs associated with fertility preservation, assisted reproductive technologies, and related services. The Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Care Physician Fellowship: Pediatric Care, offered by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, aims to enhance the training of physicians in providing specialized care for pediatric patients with MS. This one-year post-residency program emphasizes direct patient care and multidisciplinary collaboration. Participants will learn under the supervision of MS specialists, gaining essential skills to improve clinical practices and contribute to the MS community, ultimately leading to better outcomes for those affected by this condition.

The New York State Department of Health is seeking competitive proposals for managing the Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Department at the New York State Veterans Home at Montrose. This facility, serving qualified veterans, requires qualified bidders to provide management and therapy staff. The aim is to enhance the rehabilitation services offered to residents in this state-of-the-art, 252-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center located in Northern Westchester County.

Mildred's Dream Foundation Grant provides vital support to community-based non-profit organizations focused on Education, Domestic Violence, and Physical or Mental Health Challenges. With grants up to $25,000, the foundation aims to honor Mildred's commitment to improving lives and creating a better world. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) non-profits providing direct services in these areas. Notably, the foundation excludes funding for certain institutions, ensuring resources are directed to those genuinely in need.

Dr. Marlene Caroselli Excellence-in-Communication Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship

To recognize those high school seniors who have consistently demonstrated excellence in both the spoken and written word and plan to pursue college and a career that requires excellence in communication.

Number and Size of Awards

Number of recipients and award amounts vary; award amount may be split between two or more recipients. Award paid in one lump sum in the Fall and divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters. Average award $5,000; not to exceed the cost of tuition.

Donor Information

A former St. John Fisher College professor who understood and greatly admired the hard work and challenges of single-parent students created this scholarship to support their higher education endeavors and to improve their employability, their lives, and the lives of their children.

The Cooperative Development Fund Grant supports cooperative development, research, and technical assistance for cooperatives focused on seniors, international development, and affordable housing. Grants, typically ranging from $20,000 to $30,000, are awarded once a year, with a two-stage application process: a concept paper followed by a full proposal for selected applicants. Up to two grants are awarded annually, with decisions announced shortly after the Advisory Board meeting in January.

The Sloan Indigenous Graduate Partnership (SIGP) Scholarship Program, funded by the A.P. Sloan Foundation, aims to support Indigenous graduate students in STEM fields. This program, a collaboration among the Montana University System institutions, offers scholarships, professional development, and networking opportunities to enhance the academic journey of Indigenous students.
