The Go Outside (GO) Grants offer funding up to $15,000 for North Carolina K-12 schools and nonprofit organizations to enhance outdoor learning experiences. While applications are open, funding is contingent upon state support. The grants are dedicated to projects like outdoor classrooms and gardens that promote education and recreation for underserved youth aged 4-18. However, indoor activities and non-educational projects may not be funded.

The Go Outside (GO) Grants support North Carolina educators in providing students with outdoor learning experiences through field trips and visiting programs. Funding ranges from $3,000 for single-day trips to $5,000 for overnight excursions, encouraging exploration of parks and recreation areas. Applications are currently open, but funding is contingent on state allocations, with a recommendation to schedule activities after July 2025.

The Go Outside (GO) Grants provide North Carolina K-12 schools and nonprofit organizations funding for outdoor educational experiences, including field trips and visiting programs. With grants of up to $2,500, educators can enhance outdoor learning through activities involving aquariums, zoos, and STEM organizations. While applications are currently open, funding is contingent upon state funding availability, and applicants are advised to plan for dates no earlier than July 2025.

The NCAC: Statewide Service Organizations Grant Program, established by the North Carolina Arts Council, aims to enhance arts services statewide. It provides funding (ranging from $5,000 to $30,000) to eligible nonprofit organizations for programs that support the arts community through newsletters, workshops, and more. This initiative promotes transparency and accessibility, ensuring diverse artistic resources are available across all 100 counties in North Carolina. AATCC Foundation

Established in 1997, AATCC Foundation, Inc. operates to further the charitable mission of the Association, promoting the science and knowledge of textile design, coloration, materials, processing, and testing through research and education. 

Grady, Hauser, Houser, Daniels Graduate Fellowship

The $5,000 AATCC Foundation Grady, Hauser, Houser, Daniels Graduate Fellowship supports students pursuing a PhD in Fiber and Polymer Science at North Carolina State University’s Wilson College of Textiles.

In the event that the nominated recipient decides not to pursue his/her degree, the Foundation Board may approve another eligible recipient as an alternate. The fellowship is intended to assist students for one academic year.

Background

Charles E Gavin III, retired chair and CEO of MFG Chemical, also served as president of AATCC 1999-2000, treasurer 2003-2012. Gavin was instrumental in forming AATCC Foundation Inc and was the first contributor to the Foundation. Over the years, Gavin has made many additional donations in support of numerous named scholarships, including the establishment of the AATCC Foundation Grady, Hauser, Houser, Daniels Graduate Fellowship, honoring four individuals, all graduates of North Carolina State University, and all instrumental in the continued success of AATCC Foundation Inc. The four individuals honored are: Perry Grady, retired associate dean emeritus at the College of Textiles, who worked for many years to help gain donations and develop scholarships for the Foundation Peter Hauser, AATCC president and chair of AATCC Foundation 2013-2014, and retired professor in the Textile Engineering and Color Chemistry Department at the College of Textiles Nelson Houser, AATCC president and initial chair of AATCC Foundation 1997-1998 John Y. “Jack” Daniels, AATCC executive vice president 1996-2018 and president of AATCC Foundation from its establishment in 1997 to his retirement in 2018. In the fall of 2024, he returned to AATCC for four months to serve as interim executive vice president. Due to his continued dedication to AATCC, Daniels has been named Executive Vice President, Emeritus.

The Joy W. Pope Memorial Grant Funds aim to promote innovative projects across North Carolina's arts and human services sectors. With awards of up to $100,000, the foundation supports initiatives that enhance community engagement and foster self-empowerment among citizens. Projects must be completed by the end of the granting year, and eligibility is limited to nonprofits in North Carolina. Notably, the grants exclude medical research and direct aid to individuals, focusing instead on sustainable community improvements.

The University Technology Development Funding's Translational Research Grant (TRG) supports innovative projects that aim to convert university-held life sciences inventions into commercially viable products. With potential funding up to $110,000, the program encourages researchers from North Carolina universities to generate critical data that can facilitate product development and licensing efforts. Successful proposals will demonstrate a capable project team and realistic milestones for technology advancement.

Each year, the Foundation honors people and organizations who have made or continue to make a transformational impact on the credit union movement. Hero Award winners are honored at the Foundation’s Awards Gala each year. 

Nominations for the following awards categories are accepted: The Lifetime Achievement Award, The Individual Achievement Award, The Partner in Philanthropy Award and The Advancing Equity Award.

The Lifetime Achievement Award

Honors one professional or one volunteer who has dedicated their life to promoting the credit union philosophy, created innovative concepts and exhibited leadership that has made a significant and lasting impact in the credit union movement on a local, national and/or international stage. This is traditionally awarded to an individual who has retired or has announced their retirement.
