Armstrong County Community Foundation (The Community Foundation Serving the Heart of Western Pennsylvania)

In 1997 Merchants National Bank, an Armstrong County community bank, marked its 100th anniversary. The centennial celebration included a unique expression of gratitude to the community in the form of $100,000 to be used as a seed fund to initiate a community foundation for Armstrong County. The bank challenged the community to keep the principal balance of the endowed funds intact and spend only a portion of the interest earnings to ensure a lasting legacy.

The Armstrong County Community Foundation, a public nonprofit corporation,

Evelyn Benton Nursing Scholarship

Evelyn Benton was a wonderful mother, friend and mentor. As a professional nurse, Evelyn had empathy, kindness and respect for her patients. She inspired and encouraged her colleagues and co-workers and was a role model for so many throughout her life. The Evelyn Benton Nursing Scholarship was established in 2005 in memory of Evelyn by her family.

The Community Foundation of NCW is a tax-exempt philanthropic organization that helps individuals, families, businesses, and agencies support charitable causes throughout Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties.

Stella Knoebel / Saddlerock Evangelical Presbyterian Church Music Scholarship

Stella Knoebel was a significant part of the music department at First Presbyterian Church of Wenatchee (now called Saddlerock Evangelical Presbyterian Church). To honor her legacy, the church established an endowment fund to provide scholarships to students who are members of the congregation and preference will be given to those who plan to continue their education in the field of music.

Stark Community Foundation is one of the area’s major sources of college scholarship support— thanks to the generosity of caring individuals, families and businesses that have created scholarship funds.

The Foundation currently manages more than 100 scholarship funds that support hundreds of deserving students each year from Stark and Carroll counties. In 2025, more than $1,000,000 was awarded to local students to help them achieve their educational dreams.

The Central Presbyterian Church - Raisner Family Scholarship Fund

The Central Presbyterian Church-Raisner Family Scholarship Fund assists deserving Stark County students who are active in the church or who are children or dependents of an active member of Central Presbyterian Church who are pursuing first-year post-secondary education. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate financial need.

Katrin Lamon Fellowship

This opportunity is provided to honor the life and legacy of Katrin Lamon.

The purpose of the Katrin Lamon Scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to eligible American Indian and Alaska Native graduate students pursuing degrees full-time at an accredited institution in literature, communication, journalism, or other related fields.

This opportunity is a need-based award.

This opportunity is provided to honor the life and legacy of Ruth Muskrat Bronson.

The purpose of the Ruth Muskrat Bronson Scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to eligible federally recognized Tribal members of Oklahoma pursuing graduate or professional degrees full-time in Nursing or a health-related field.

Joseph and Marla Dernay Future Teacher Scholarship

The Junior League of Sioux Falls Scholarship, managed by the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation, is aimed at female graduating seniors from accredited high schools or home school programs residing in Minnehaha or Lincoln counties. Eligible candidates must have a strong academic record, with ACT scores of 23 or higher or SAT scores of 1060 and demonstrate financial need. This scholarship supports higher education aspirations by supplementing other financial aid.

The Indian Highway Safety Traffic Records Forum Grant is exclusively available for federally recognized tribes without an existing grant for FY 2027. This program, managed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, supports initiatives aimed at enhancing traffic safety through data collection and analysis. Eligible tribal employees can apply for funding to cover registration and travel expenses for attending the Traffic Records Forum from August 3-5, 2027, promoting improved traffic records and safety measures.

The Frederick G. Byington and Christine Latta Byington Family Scholarship Fund, established by the Community Foundation of Central Georgia, supports students from Wilkinson County, GA, with limited financial resources. This scholarship aims to facilitate access to higher education, vocational training, and professional schooling. Annually, up to two recipients are chosen, with awards varying in amount. Previous recipients can renew the scholarship for up to four years, provided they meet eligibility criteria and complete necessary follow-ups.

The Six Flags Associate Scholarship, offered by the Erie County Community Foundation, aims to support recent high school graduates or college students with financial need. The Funding the Future of Finance in Indian Country/Johnson Scholarship offers financial support to eligible American Indian and Alaska Native undergraduate students pursuing full-time degrees in business, accounting, or finance. Applicants must demonstrate Tribal affiliation through a Tribal Eligibility Certificate.

The American Geophysical Union Jerome M. Paros Scholarship Award supports graduate students pursuing geophysical instrumentation and precise field measurements in seismology, atmospheric sciences, or ocean sciences. Established by Jerome M. Paros, the scholarship awards up to $5,000 to three students annually, fostering talent in this critical field. Halton Foundation provides grants for research focused on indoor air quality, thermal conditions, breathable particulates, and illnesses that may result from sub-standard indoor environmental quality.

Halton Foundation is a charitable organization with the aim of improving indoor environmental quality. Grants are awarded to non-profit organizations that research improvements in human wellbeing in indoor environments or develop solutions for enhanced indoor environmental quality.

The Autism Society Northwestern Pennsylvania Scholarship, provided by the Erie Community Foundation, aims to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder who have an IEP or 504 plan. In 2023, over $800,000 in scholarships were awarded to help more than 500 students pursue their educational goals. Preference is given to those with a current Autism Society NWPA membership, ensuring that resources are directed to those who need it most in their journey towards higher education and job training.

The Bob Hower Memorial Scholarship aims to empower high school seniors from Erie County, Ohio, who are planning to attend The Ohio State University. Established by the Erie County Community Foundation, this scholarship encourages students to pursue their educational dreams without financial need being a barrier. Renewals for up to three additional years are available at the discretion of the Scholarship Advisory Committee, supporting long-term educational goals.

The College Women's Club Charitable Fund Scholarship aims to support female graduating seniors from selected high schools in Erie County, Ohio, who are pursuing undergraduate degrees. With a focus on financial need and a minimum GPA requirement of 3.5, this scholarship encourages young women to contribute positively to their communities. Since its inception in 1995, the fund has played a vital role in enhancing educational opportunities and fostering leadership among local students.

The Edward L. Feick Vocational Training Scholarship supports residents of Erie County, Ohio, pursuing accredited vocational training or apprenticeship programs. Established by a non-profit organization in 1995, the scholarship aims to enhance community quality of life. Financial need is considered, and recipients may renew the scholarship for up to three additional years at the discretion of the Scholarship Advisory Committee. Preference is given to graduates of Sandusky High School attending EHOVE.

The June Bacon-Bercey Scholarship in Atmospheric Sciences for Women supports women pursuing careers in atmospheric sciences and meteorology. Established in 1978 and reintroduced in 2021, it offers a $1,000 scholarship, mentorship opportunities, and networking through AccuWeather. The Thurman Munson Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by Stark Community Foundation, supports high school seniors from Stark or Summit County who have participated in varsity baseball or softball. This scholarship seeks to assist students demonstrating both academic potential and financial need, with verification of their sports involvement required. The fund alternates scholarship awards between male and female recipients each year, continuing the legacy of philanthropy since 1963.
