The Scholarship Program

The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts administers over 160 scholarships. Some of the funds help students from a particular school or area; others provide financial assistance to those pursuing a specific field of study; still others assist students that are most in need. Students who apply to the Scholarship program may be eligible for many of these funds.

• Scholarships may be used to offset tuition, fees, room and board, and other items included as part of the cost for attending the institution. 
• Most scholarships are for students who live in Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden Counties. However, some are also available to students who live in Berkshire County and Hartford County in Connecticut.
• We offer scholarships to those who attend on either a full-time or part-time basis. 
• Any student who plans to enroll for the upcoming fall semester, in any year of college as an undergraduate or graduate student and who will attend an accredited post-secondary school in the United States may apply.
• Scholarships are provided for one academic year and are not automatically renewed each year. You can reapply to our program every year you are going to attend college, and the application you submit that year will be considered for all scholarships for which you are eligible.

WestFest Scholarship Fund

To support Hampden County residents pursuing degrees in the arts; preference to residents of Westfield.

The Danette Honesto Scholarship Program, administered by the San Antonio Area Foundation, offers financial assistance to current high school seniors and college students pursuing various degrees in the USA. Applicants must be dependents of Sonterra Medical Management Group employees and meet specific eligibility criteria. This scholarship aims to enhance educational opportunities and is a testament to the Foundation's commitment to community development, having distributed millions in grants and scholarships since 1964.

The Duncan Scholars Program Scholarship Fund, managed by the San Antonio Area Foundation, offers financial assistance for full-time students enrolled in various accredited institutions across the USA. This renewable scholarship is available to children of current Enterprise Products Company employees, ensuring that those with at least three years of service can support their child's educational pursuits. The Mark Foundation Emerging Leader Award supports innovative cancer research led by early career investigators. Aimed at high-impact, high-risk projects, this grant is available to those employed by U.S. or Canadian non-profit academic institutions. Eligible applicants must be within three to eight years of starting their independent faculty research appointment. This award emphasizes multi-year independent funding and is not intended as the main funding source for the laboratory, ensuring that diverse research efforts are encouraged.

Gayle & Evelyn Richmond Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors from a high school in Plainville, Stockton, Natoma, or Palco, KS.

Renewals

Scholarship recipients are eligible to apply for renewal by meeting the following criteria:

• Recipients must maintain a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA.
• Recipients may receive this scholarship for a total of 4 years.

The Putting Patients First Grant Program, supported by Canon Medical and managed by AHRA, aims to enhance patient care and safety in medical imaging. In 2024, five grants of up to $10,000 each will be awarded to hospitals developing training or programs in categories such as Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Safety. Recipients are also required to publish their findings in an AHRA publication, promoting shared best practices across institutions.

The Francisca H. Eschauzier Scholarship, offered by the San Antonio Area Foundation, supports current high school seniors from Bexar County pursuing higher education. This scholarship covers tuition, fees, and books for students enrolled in associate or bachelor's degree programs. Eligible applicants include undergraduates and graduates, with awards up to $3,000. Scholarships for High School Seniors

Mid-Shore Community Foundation awards scholarships to high school seniors in Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot Counties, who are planning to attend a college, university, or trade school. In general, scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate academic achievement, community service, financial need, and other criteria specified by the donor.

Kate Elliott Shannahan Trades Scholarship

Awarded to students graduating from Talbot County Public Schools, who are planning to attend a vocational, trade, or career school.

The Disability Foundation, in partnership with The Dayton Foundation, invites proposals for grants aimed at supporting organizations providing direct services to individuals with disabilities. Eligible applicants include community-based nonprofits and academic institutions. Grants, capped at $10,000, can be used for various purposes such as enhancing service accessibility, purchasing necessary equipment, and expanding services. This initiative seeks to empower disabled individuals by ensuring they receive essential resources and support.

Robert J. and Norma E. Bazzett Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of Robert J. and Norma E. Bazzett, who established the Robert J. and Norma E. Bazzett Scholarship of the Community Foundation for Mason County.

Robert, a 1959 graduate of Ludington High School, said he always had the idea in the back of his mind to establish a scholarship fund for the “average” student. “I always felt there was a need for that,” Robert said, “because there are a lot of kids like me that were just average C students in high school. We were cut out of the scholarship picture because our grades weren’t good enough, but that didn’t mean we were not worthy of a scholarship.”

The Dan Trant Scholarship Fund, managed by the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts, supports Westfield residents who are student athletes. This fund is part of a broader initiative, offering over 160 scholarships to assist students pursuing diverse fields of study. Eligible applicants include undergraduate and graduate students attending accredited institutions. Awards can reach up to $3,000, with students advised to consult financial aid offices regarding any potential impacts on their aid packages.

Stark Community Foundation is one of the area’s major sources of college scholarship support— thanks to the generosity of caring individuals, families and businesses that have created scholarship funds.

The Foundation currently manages more than 100 scholarship funds that support hundreds of deserving students each year from Stark and Carroll counties.

The Jack O. Weimer, Jr. Scholarship Fund

The Jack O. Weimer, Jr. Scholarship Fund assists current or former residents of Stark County enrolled or accepted in a graduate program in a business-related field. Preference will be given to individuals demonstrating financial need. Personal interview may be required.

This scholarship is renewable.

The Florence Emma Eichler Scholarship, offered by the San Antonio Area Foundation, supports students pursuing any field of study in the USA. Applicants must be full-time students maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA, having graduated from high schools in Bexar or Llano County. The USTA's Tennis Venue Services provides funding for tennis facilities, emphasizing community and growth. Grants are available for various projects, including basic improvements, resurfacing, and new constructions. With funding up to $55,000 based on project type, the program supports collegiate organizations in enhancing their facilities. This initiative promotes healthy competition and camaraderie among players, ensuring tennis remains accessible and well-equipped for all enthusiasts.

This funding opportunity aims to enhance the global response to rabies through innovative, cost-effective tools. The initiative focuses on reducing human rabies cases and advancing canine rabies elimination, particularly in high-burden regions. Research areas include tracking vaccination efforts, managing rabies exposure investigations, improving laboratory systems, and assessing the economic impact of interventions. Ultimately, it seeks to develop strategies that protect public health and ensure the sustainability of rabies-free status in the U.S.

The NIH Independent Scientist Award (K02) supports the development of outstanding scientists by providing three to five years of salary support and protected time for newly independent researchers. This funding opportunity is specifically for applicants proposing research that does not involve leading an independent clinical trial, allowing them to gain experience in trials led by others. Key deadlines for applications span from June 2024 to February 2027.

The NIH Support for Conferences and Scientific Meetings (R13) provides funding for high-quality conferences that align with public health and scientific missions. Key deadlines for applications include April 12, August 12, and December 12 for the years 2024 through 2026, with specific deadlines for AIDS-related grants as well. The Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholars Program fosters collaboration between leading scientific institutions in the U.S. and Israel by attracting top postdoctoral researchers. With a focus on STEM leadership, this program offers a unique two-year scholarship, allowing scholars to conduct research at participating Israeli universities and North American institutions.
