The mission of the Developmental Disabilities Council of Oklahoma is to advance communities where everyone has the opportunity to live, learn, work, and play where they choose. The Council builds partnerships to change systems to improve services, resources, and supports for Oklahomans with developmental disabilities and their families.

Developmental Disabilities Council of Oklahoma

The Developmental Disabilities Council of Oklahoma (DDCO) welcomes unsolicited proposals and applications for contracts to fund activities to advance the independence, productivity, and inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

What does DDCO do?

Provide information and technical assistance to legislators, policymakers, and state agencies, private organizations, and advocates.

Provide assistance to individuals and organizations to support individuals with developmental disabilities and family members to participate on advocacy boards and attend conferences.

Participate in work groups, task forces, and coalitions that affect policy making at the state and federal levels.

Fund leadership and advocacy training for advocates and field professionals.

Fund work performed by council staff or other entities that will: 

• Identify individuals and their families who may need services or supports,
• Foster inter-agency collaboration and coordination resulting in improved service or support,
• Reduce or eliminate barriers to services; or redesign systems of support to better meet individual needs,
• Inform policymakers on the results of its work, policy design, best and promising practices, or other findings that may inform future policy decisions, or 
• Create model projects or programs demonstrating new approaches to serving Oklahoman's with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• DDCO can fund up to 75% of the total project cost that provides training or an innovative demonstration of new approaches, but will not fund direct services to people as a primary goal of a project.                                                                           

The Civil Money Penalty Fund Program, established by the Oklahoma State Department of Health, aims to enhance the quality of care in nursing facilities through projects funded by penalties collected from non-compliant nursing homes. This program supports various evidence-based practices and initiatives that focus on improving residents' health and wellbeing. Eligible organizations, including skilled nursing facilities, can apply for funding to implement innovative solutions that promote quality of life for nursing home residents.

Professional Development Conference Grant - General CE Opportunities

The Professional Development Conference Grant supports continuing education opportunities for Oklahoma public library staff. Funded through the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the grant helps library professionals attend conferences and training that strengthen skills, support certification goals, and improve library services across the state. Eligible applicants may request funding assistance for approved professional development opportunities.

This LSTA Grant, offered through the Institute of Museum and Library Services, is for the purpose of educating library professionals and improving library services in Oklahoma. In accordance with the Public Library Academy Manual, the certification program is to ensure that "public libraries in this state be administered and staffed by trained personnel... library staff must increase their skills and knowledge through continuing education in order to keep abreast of development in the information age" in order "to improve library service throughout the state."

Cherokee Nation Foundation

The Cherokee Nation Foundation is a nonprofit organization serving the Cherokee Nation, a federally recognized tribe of more than 470,000 citizens. Its mission is to provide educational opportunities to Cherokee students so they can reach their full potential. The Cherokee Nation Foundation is a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Scholarships

Cherokee Nation Foundation offers a diverse range of scholarships to help reverse the trend of rising student debt. Students may receive up to two CNF scholarships per academic year. All opportunities are reserved for Cherokee Nation citizens, unless otherwise noted in the description.

Oklahoma State University/Cherokee Nation Foundation Scholarship

Applicant must be a current, full-time student or a graduating high school senior accepted to Oklahoma State University. This award is reserved for Cherokee Nation citizens and is renewable for up to five years. Student must maintain a 3.0 GPA, stay in good standing with the university and pursue only one degree. A letter of reference is required for consideration.

Health Literacy Grants

Health Literacy Grant

ODL's Health Literacy grant provides libraries and literacy organizations across the state opportunities to develop and sustain programming that encourages healthy behaviors and information-gathering for members of their communities. Through funded programs, participants can increase their physical activity, grow and prepare healthy meals, learn about various health topics, and more--the possibilities are as numerous as local librarians' imaginations are wide!

The Southern Plains Grassland Grant Program, led by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), aims to conserve and restore vital grasslands in the Southern Great Plains. Collaborating with nonprofit organizations and ranching communities, the program enhances ecosystem health and resilience while providing financial resources. Additionally, it supports carbon storage efforts, benefiting both wildlife and rural economies. Key funding partners include Sysco, Burger King, Cargill, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The Mutual Self-Help Housing Technical Assistance Grants in Oklahoma support local organizations in facilitating self-help housing projects for low-income families. Grant recipients help groups of individuals construct their own homes, providing essential technical assistance throughout the process. Eligible applicants include government non-profits, federally-recognized tribes, and private non-profits. Funds can be used for supervision and technical support, but not for hiring construction workers or purchasing materials. This program aims to empower communities and promote homeownership.

This scholarship is designed for graduates of public or charter high schools in East Tulsa who plan to pursue higher education at accredited institutions in Oklahoma. Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate a commitment to public service, with preference given to those in financial need.

The Patterson Foundation offers Assistance Dog Program Grants to support organizations providing service animals to veterans and individuals with disabilities. Funding is available for projects that expand capacity, personnel costs related to puppy training, and program support aimed at improving client experiences. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) non-profits and can request grants up to $35,000 for capital projects or $10,000 for program support. Applications are accepted through a two-step process.

The University of Tulsa/Cherokee Nation Foundation Scholarship aims to support Cherokee Nation citizens pursuing higher education. Eligible applicants include undergraduate students and graduating high school seniors accepted to the University of Tulsa. This renewable scholarship lasts up to five years, contingent on maintaining a 3.0 GPA and good standing. A letter of reference is also required for consideration, reinforcing the foundation's commitment to fostering educational opportunities and reducing student debt among Cherokee students.

The Women’s Foundation of Oklahoma is launching its 2025 grant cycle aimed at empowering women and girls across the state. This initiative emphasizes collaboration among nonprofits, educational institutions, and communities to address critical issues and maximize impact. Eligible organizations include 501c3 nonprofits in good standing or higher education institutions, provided they have representation at the 2025 WFO Convening. This grant cycle seeks to drive meaningful change and foster sustainable development in Oklahoma.

The Laura C. Stauffer Scholarship, offered by the Tulsa Community Foundation, supports graduate students from the University of Tulsa pursuing a Master of Arts in Museum Science and Management, as well as University of Oklahoma graduate or Ph.D. students in the School of Art and Art History. Established in 1998, the Tulsa Community Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Tulsa and Northeastern Oklahoma through charitable initiatives.

The Gridiron Veterans Scholarship, provided by the Bob Woodruff Foundation, offers essential financial support for military veterans and first responders. This initiative focuses on wellness, rehabilitation, and recovery programs, ensuring participants can access mental health services, physical therapy, and holistic resources. The foundation prioritizes those facing emotional and physical challenges, empowering them to overcome barriers and improve their quality of life through customized, evidence-based support.

The Kerr Foundation Inc. offers grants to 501(c)3 organizations, focusing on education, arts, health, and human services. Priority is given to Oklahoma entities, but applications from neighboring states and Washington D.C. are also accepted. The foundation supports various project types, including capital, program, and operating expenses. Note that back-to-back grants are not allowed, enforcing a three-year gap for reapplication after funding. This ensures a broad and impactful reach for community development.

The grant will enable libraries to support public programming connected to the America 250 commemoration, encourage civic engagement, historical reflection, and community dialogue, highlight history through local and national perspectives on American experiences, and expand access to high-quality educational and cultural programming for communities across Oklahoma.

James Avery Corporate Grants support 501(c)(3) organizations located within 50 miles of a James Avery retail or corporate location. The foundation prioritizes projects that enrich community life, focusing on arts, veteran services, and wellness. Grants typically range from $10,000 to $25,000, with applications accepted once per year. Organizations must demonstrate community impact, effective management, and provide necessary documentation for eligibility. Note that certain types of funding, such as for individuals or for-profit organizations, are excluded.

About the Oklahoma Historical Society

The mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society is to collect, preserve, and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people.

The Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) was founded on May 27, 1893, by members of the Territorial Press Association to preserve newspapers. Over the years the OHS has developed numerous collections, programs, research centers, museums, historic homes, and military sites across the state. The OHS is an agency of the State of Oklahoma and a private membership organization governed by a Board of Directors.

National Register of Historic Places

Nomination Grant Application Instructions and Qualifications

The Oklahoma Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) receives an annual allocation from the US Department of the Interior's Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) for conduct of the National Register Programs. The SHPO has set aside $12,000 from the HPF award for matching grants for preparation of National Register of Historic Places nominations. This special grant program is designed to encourage nomination of individual properties to the National Register increasing the number of Oklahoma's valuable archaeological and historic resources that can benefit from this special designation.

The Environmental Officer Grants aim to combat illegal dumping in Oklahoma by providing funding up to $50,000 for salaries, equipment, and cleanup efforts. Eligible applicants include government units and recognized organizations. The grants support part-time Environmental Officers and cover costs for supplies and labor. Monthly reporting on metrics like dumps identified and trash collected is required. Preference is given to agencies with prior enforcement experience and those not previously funded, promoting sustainable environmental practices.

The Equipment Grants program, managed by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, supports the purchase of solid waste management equipment valued between $5,000 and $50,000. Eligible applicants include government units and recognized organizations in Oklahoma. This funding is intended for one-time purchases, with a requirement for storage and maintenance plans in applications. Ineligible items include buildings and vehicles, ensuring a focused investment in necessary equipment.

The Ernest Morgan Memorial Scholarship, managed by CommunityGiving, supports central Minnesota student athletes and leaders to pursue higher education outside their home states. This scholarship aims to expand students' horizons and experiences, with a total award of $5,000 available. Open to high school seniors from specific schools, applicants are encouraged to apply online and demonstrate their leadership or athletic skills. This initiative enhances educational opportunities and fosters personal growth among local youth.

Collection Event Grants provide funding for the collection of electronic waste and other hazardous materials, including household hazardous waste, tires, and pharmaceuticals. Grants, ranging from $1,000 to $50,000, support discrete collection events coordinated with certified recyclers and local authorities. Eligible applicants include government units and recognized organizations in Oklahoma. The program promotes safe disposal practices and environmental stewardship, ensuring responsible management of e-waste and hazardous materials.

Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG)

The Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) program is a component of the State’s Continuum of Care system designed to alleviate homelessness in Oklahoma. ESG programs enable homeless individuals and families to move toward independent living by providing emergency housing, supportive services, eviction prevention and housing assistance. ESG funds are provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on an annual basis and administered by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce. The Oklahoma Department of Commerce provides ESG grants to nonprofits that provide direct services in their communities in rural Oklahoma and does not provide direct homeless services from our office.

The general goals of this funding are consistent with those established by HUD and are intended to benefit people with low to moderate income:

• Provide decent housing
• Provide a suitable living environment
• Expand economic opportunities

Sponsored: Private nonprofits seeking ESG funds for the first time, that do not have a yearly independent audit, and/or that have not received Oklahoma Department of Commerce ESG funds within two (2) grant cycles, must apply with a sponsor.

Sponsorships may be obtained from a unit of general local government, a Community Action Agency operating in that jurisdiction or a private nonprofit with prior experience complying with federal requirements and serving as an umbrella organization.

Unsponsored: Private nonprofits that have a yearly independent audit and have received ESG funds within two (2) grant cycles may apply directly for an ESG grant without sponsorship.

The Sam Noble Scholarship Program offers financial support to students from southern Oklahoma pursuing degrees in technology and agriculture. Undergraduate students receive $3,000 per semester, while graduate students receive $3,600. Eligible candidates must reside in specified counties and can be at any academic level. The scholarship is available for various disciplines, including agribusiness and technology certifications, with a total award cap of $24,000 for Bachelor’s degrees.

The OAC Capitol Art Field Trip Grants provide an exceptional opportunity for Oklahoma school children, particularly those from rural and under-resourced communities, to experience the state's rich history and art at the Oklahoma State Capitol. Schools can receive reimbursement for transportation and associated costs, allowing students to engage in guided tours and learn about Oklahoma's art collections and government. Grants are available for up to $1,100 per field trip, fostering a unique educational experience.

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) offers Professional Service/Other Grants to non-profit organizations demonstrating sole-source service provisions and for unique projects outside standard DEQ categories. Funding is available on a reimbursement basis, covering 80% of eligible equipment costs, ranging from $1,000 to $50,000. Grantees must formalize agreements with DEQ prior to project initiation, ensuring compliance with reimbursement policies. This initiative aims to enhance environmental protection through targeted financial support.
