The Lozier Foundation

Formed in 1986, The Lozier Foundation is a family foundation funded by Allan and Dianne Lozier. The foundation’s focus is education, social services and issues involving women and children with an emphasis on the inner city and underrepresented populations.

The CSA Midwest Region: Otto Thieme Memorial Internship provides a unique opportunity for students to engage in a hands-on curatorial experience with costume collections at Midwestern museums, historical societies, or universities. Awarded a $2000 stipend for an eight-week internship, students will gain valuable mentorship and training in the field of costume. The Claire M. Hubbard Young Leaders in Conservation Fellowship Program, hosted by The Nature Conservancy in Nebraska, offers a year-long opportunity for recent college graduates in conservation fields. Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS)

The MNRS originally began to provide a place for nurses to collaborate, and collaborate they did! Over time, the founding members began to realize the benefits of having an organization dedicated specifically to nursing research. With some careful attention and a lot of hard work, we have grown into the organization it is today. Distinguished Contribution Award

The purpose of the Distinguished Contribution Award is to recognize the scientific contribution of a member who has conducted or promoted research, which has enhanced the science and practice of nursing in the MNRS region.

Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation

Founded in 1978, the Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation serves charitable people and worthy causes as an IRS-qualified 501(c)(3) public charitable organization.

We were established by local community leaders to build charitable resources to benefit the people of the North Platte area, primarily Lincoln County and 11 nearby counties in Nebraska. The Community Foundation has grown steadily. We now administer about 350 charitable and scholarship funds.

Poehling Scholarship

This scholarship is a legacy of John & Diane Poehling and their interest in hunting, fishing, wildlife conservation and wildlife education. 

Award may be used at any accredited NEBRASKA college for the upcoming school year.

The Royalty Fields Grant Program, presented by the Kansas City Royals Foundation, supports the enhancement of youth baseball and softball facilities across the Midwest. This initiative offers matching grants for major renovations, including essential upgrades such as new sod, infields, fencing, and dugouts. Program Overview

The State of Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, is seeking eligible Subrecipients to implement additional workforce opportunities for SNAP recipients. The State wishes to engage a broad range of Subrecipients to bring new tools, resources, and capacity to build a better, stronger, and more robust SNAP E&T Program.

The State offers employment and training services to SNAP recipients who voluntarily choose to participate in SNAP E&T. Eligible SNAP Next Step E&T participants cannot be receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds and must be actively receiving SNAP benefits. The program provides orientation, assessment, development of an employment plan, training as well as supportive services to program participants along with a range of activities. The SNAP Next Step E&T program is available in the central area of the State including Kearney, Columbus, Grand Island, North Platte, Scottsbluff, Sidney, Lexington, Norfolk, and Hastings as well as Omaha. DHHS is in the process of expanding the SNAP Next Step E&T program to serve other areas of the state, specifically Lincoln, NE through Third party partners. 

Project Description

The Subrecipient(s) will work to connect with current SNAP recipients and applicants who participate with SNAP Next Step E&T or could participate with SNAP Next Step E&T. This will be done through knowledge the Subrecipient already has in regard to their customer base or SNAP Next Step E&T participants will be referred to the Subrecipient from DHHS. The Subrecipient(s) will work in coordination with DHHS to complete any needed assessments, employment plans and data tracking. 

The Verne P. Jackson and Rose Marie Jackson Charitable Trust Grant provides crucial financial assistance to organizations supporting physically handicapped individuals within a 100-mile radius of Omaha, Nebraska. Established by Verne P. Jackson, the trust aims to empower those facing physical challenges, drawing from personal experiences with disability. Administered by Wells Fargo Bank, it typically awards one to two grants annually, focusing on assisting organizations that promote productive and rewarding lives for the handicapped.

The Costume Society of America (CSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded on March 23, 1973, and incorporated in the state of New York on September 12, 1973. CSA serves it members, and promotes its goals with national symposia and publications including the journal Dress and its monthly electronic newsletter CSA e-News.

The organization began forming regional groups in 1978. There are six regional groups in the United States and Canada, and one international group. Individual regions hold annual meetings, sponsor programs and publish newsletters.

Midwest Region Student Travel Award

Each year, CSA travel funding in an amount up to $750 is available for a Midwest Region Student Member to present at the National Symposium of The Costume Society of America. Awards may be distributed among multiple student members.

The California Casualty Music & Arts Grant supports K-12 public schools facing budget cuts that threaten their music and arts programs. Eligible applicants, who must be active employees of public K-12 schools and members of specified educator associations, can request grants of $250 for music or arts needs. This initiative aims to enhance creative education across the states, excluding AK, HI, MA, MI, NY, and WI. Applications received by July 15 will be notified by November 30.

The Community Possible Grant Program by U.S. Bank aims to foster economic and workforce advancement, as well as safe and affordable housing. By partnering with 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, the program seeks to drive lasting change within communities through collaborative grantmaking. Priority is given to organizations that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and that address multiple pillars of work, home, and play. This initiative reflects U.S. Bank's commitment to creating a more equitable society.

Project Lead The Way is offering a rolling grant opportunity for schools across the US to implement the PLTW Gateway program for the first time. With total funding of $9,100, the grant covers participation fees and training registration costs. Schools, including public, private, and charter, are encouraged to apply, particularly those serving low-income and minority majority populations. This initiative aims to enhance educational pathways in STEM for diverse student groups.

Nebraska education nonprofits serving urban and underrepresented communities can access funding through the Lozier Foundation’s Education Application to support learning initiatives and related services. Organizations focused on education, human services, and women and girls, including preschool programs within Lozier’s corporate footprint, may apply year-round after submitting a Letter of Intent if they have not been invited.

The Regional Touring Grant Program, funded by the Mid-America Arts Alliance, supports organizations in the M-AAA region to showcase touring artists from outside their state. Grants up to $5,000 are available, with organizations eligible for matching funds and the capacity to submit multiple applications. Projects are designed to enhance arts programming and engage underserved audiences through public-facing events, including performances and outreach activities. This initiative aims to foster cultural exchange and deepen community connections through the arts.

The Wetland Mitigation Banking Program for FY 2026 offers $3 million in grants to support the development of mitigation banks for agricultural producers with wetlands. Proposals are prioritized based on the number of wetlands and conservation compliance requests in states such as Georgia, Illinois, and Minnesota. This competitive program is designed to enhance conservation efforts while providing financial opportunities for eligible entities.

The Community Ties Giving Program by Union Pacific Foundation offers local grants aimed at enhancing community well-being through diverse funding priorities. These include safety initiatives, workforce development, community vitality, and environmental sustainability. The program emphasizes supporting organizations that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, aiming to create impactful projects that resonate with Union Pacific's heritage and mission. Eligible applicants must be nonprofit organizations serving Union Pacific communities and demonstrate a clear need and capacity to deliver effective programming.

Nebraska preschools that are part of NCAA Division II institutions or conferences may be eligible if they help host full-time athletics administration roles focused on diversity and inclusion. Nebraska education organizations within Division II schools or conferences can access funding through National Collegiate Athletic Association to enhance ethnic minority and gender representation in mid- to senior-level athletics administration positions.

The Patterson Foundation offers Oral Health Grants to support programs that enhance access to dental care for underserved communities. Eligible 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations can apply for funding up to $35,000 for capacity expansion, $10,000 for personnel support, or $10,000 for program support. The foundation prioritizes projects led by volunteer dental professionals and requires follow-up reports for continued funding. Applications are accepted year-round through a two-step process.

NCAA Division II member colleges creating new assistant coaching positions to increase ethnic minority and gender representation can apply for the Coaching Enhancement Grant, including schools in Nebraska. With a mission to advance inclusive athletics, the National Collegiate Athletic Association provides up to US $48,000 over three years toward salary, wages, and benefits.

The Abel Foundation Grant supports non-profit organizations in Nebraska, particularly in Lincoln and Lancaster County. Their funding priorities include education, human services, community enhancement, arts and culture, and environmental conservation. Eligible projects must benefit local communities, while ineligible requests include those from non-501(c)(3) organizations and individuals. The foundation emphasizes projects with direct community impact, particularly those that involve physical improvements and educational initiatives.

The Sumners Foundation Grant aims to engage and educate the public about self-government through various programs, including civic education, democracy reform, and teacher training. Grants are available to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations primarily in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, supporting activities that foster civic engagement and understanding of democratic principles. The Foundation emphasizes direct involvement in the political process and does not fund political activities or provide individual grants.

The Pauline Fulton Memorial Scholarship, managed by the Kearney Area Community Foundation, supports students accepted into the UNMC College of Nursing in Kearney, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Awarded by the Scholarship Committee, this $1,050 scholarship is divided into two $525 disbursements at the start of the fall and spring semesters. Preference is given to graduates from Nebraska high schools, particularly those from Sherman County.
