Higher Education Coordinating Commission

The Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) is a State of Oregon agency and Commission working to improve equitable access to and success in higher education and workforce training for Oregonians statewide. We coordinate funding and policy, and convene partners across the public and private higher education and workforce landscape. 

Oregon Tribal Student Grants

The Oregon Tribal Student Grant provides funding for eligible Oregon tribal students to offset the average cost of attendance at eligible Oregon colleges and universities. Current, new, and continuing students are encouraged to apply for this grant for each academic year. The grant is intended to cover the average cost of attendance after all federal and state grants and scholarships have been applied.

Awarding is prioritized for undergraduate and master's degree students. If funding is available after eligible undergraduate and master's degree students have been awarded, full or partial awards may be made to students in either professional or doctoral programs of study, and/or graduate certificates. Graduate students are not required to have participated in the grant as undergraduate students.

The Ford Scholarships provide significant financial support, up to $40,000 per year, for promising high school seniors and recent graduates from Oregon and Siskiyou County, California. This renewable scholarship aims to assist those facing barriers to higher education, regardless of GPA. The program offers comprehensive support, including personal guidance and a lifetime connection to a dedicated alumni community, ensuring that scholars are well-equipped to succeed in their academic pursuits.

The Starseed Foundation Grant offers support to 501(c)(3) organizations focused on enhancing the arts, environmental protection, literacy, and social services. Grants are available to organizations throughout the United States, with a specific emphasis on programs based in Oregon. Interested parties must first submit a Letter of Inquiry to be considered for funding. This initiative aims to improve the quality of life for underserved communities through cultural and educational enrichment.

Geraldine Stephenson Scholarship

The Geraldine Stephenson Continuing Education Scholarship Endowment, administered by the Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center Volunteers, provides a yearly grant of no more than $10,000 to an individual/s in a medically-related field. Geraldine "Gerry" Stephenson was a charter member of the Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center Auxiliary and served as bookkeeper for the Gift Shop for 15 years. In memory of Gerry and her ideals, this endowment has been established. It is intended to support and encourage those who lack the opportunity or means to continue an education. Its purpose is to provide assistance to those who wish to continue to work toward a vocational or undergraduate degree and who, due to 1) financial need and 2) current or past family responsibilities and/or other personal disabilities have had their higher education interrupted for an extended period of at least five years or more or have been unable to complete their education due to hardship.

This scholarship will enable candidates to pursue their education by providing funds to help cover the cost of tuition, books and other school-related fees as long as they meet academic standards of a 3.0 GPA.

Rural Veterans Healthcare Transportation Program

Bridges gaps and resolves barriers between Oregon's veterans living in rural areas and the healthcare benefits they've earned.

This program uses lottery funds from the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs dedicated by the Oregon Legislature. ODOT cannot use these funds for maintenance or agency operations.

​There is no local match required for this program. Coordinated applications between STIF Agencies or through purchased services contracts with common providers is encouraged.

The PERS Student Research Fund supports graduate students in estuarine sciences through grants of up to $250. The Anchor QEA Scholarship supports graduate students pursuing degrees in engineering, environmental sciences, or related fields, with awards between $1,000 and $10,000. This program emphasizes helping those in financial need, particularly focusing on BIPOC students to address inequities in STEM. Eligible candidates must demonstrate a commitment to community service and possess an inclusive mindset. This initiative reflects Anchor QEA's dedication to fostering a diverse and equitable educational environment.

The Metro Central Enhancement Grants aim to support community projects along the Willamette River, focusing on underserved populations, environmental quality, and recreational opportunities. These competitive grants encourage innovative proposals that engage diverse communities, ensuring inclusivity and sustainability. • Compensate producers for confirmed or probable livestock losses caused by wolves.
• Help pay for non-lethal prevention tools and activities that help prevent conflicts between wolves and livestock.
• Assist counties by covering up to 90% of the necessary expenses (i.e. administration) to operate a local wolf compensation program.

Funding is provided each year through the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) as a block grant to counties. Once a determination is made regarding grant amounts, counties enter into a formal grant agreement with ODA that sets out the requirements of the program.

AgWest Farm Credit offers the Rural Community Grants program aimed at enhancing the economic and social well-being of rural communities in the western United States. Non-profit organizations can apply for grants up to $5,000 for various community projects, such as facility improvements and equipment purchases. Awarded to a student to encourage their continuation post high school. Can be used to continue their education at a two or four year public institution or complete vocational training. Financial need or other factors that might make a student at risk of not continuing their education are taken into consideration.

Marys River Lodge No 221 William E. McCoy III Scholarship

In 2021, Marys River Lodge No. 221 created another scholarship in honor of longtime lodge member William E. McCoy III. This scholarship is available to graduating seniors of Benton County high schools, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. It is meant to help them attend a public community college or four-year college or university. They must intend to major in hard or physical science.

For graduating high school seniors from Benton County pursuing careers in physical sciences or engineering. Students must enroll no later than fall term in a public community college, college, or university in Oregon.

The Wilburforce Foundation Conservation Grants aim to enhance the conservation of vital lands, waters, and wildlife in Western North America. Cambia Health Foundation is dedicated to enhancing healthcare experiences through its RFP, which aims to support older adult kinship and grand-family caregivers. By promoting strategies that strengthen social connections and improve access to mental health services, the foundation seeks to address the unique challenges faced by these caregivers.
