Our Mission

The mission of The Auto Club Group Foundation is to work on behalf of our members and the communities we serve to create lasting solutions, inspire learning and provide funding in the areas of traffic safety, driver education and financial literacy.

Our History

In 1902, nine motor clubs across the country joined together to form the American Automobile Association (AAA) to protect the rights and interests of automobile users and promote better highway and traffic safety. Today, The Auto Club Group Foundation continues to support those interests by investing in traffic safety, driver education and financial literacy initiatives. The Auto Club Group Foundation which is a private Foundation, represents 14 states and 2 U.S territories, and is an integral part of AAA's evolution and success.

How We Work

Our approach to grant funding comes from a very basic principle which is to have an understanding of the goals and objectives of local communities. Our relationships, which have developed from years of community service, allow us to offer support in a more impactful and meaningful way.

The Auto Club Group Foundation, which is a private foundation, is funded by our sponsoring organization, AAA – The Auto Club Group. We award grants to organizations and initiatives that enhance our mission in the areas of Traffic Safety, Driver Education and Financial Literacy throughout our 14 U.S. states and two U.S. territories.

Priority Areas

Traffic Safety

The Auto Club Group Foundation is dedicated to supporting traffic safety programs and initiatives that make our roadways safer for all users. The ACG Foundation strives to be responsive to emerging traffic safety issues by considering grant applications that are forward thinking and address new technology.

Financial Literacy

The Auto Club Group Foundation supports financial literacy programming in grades K – 12, empowering students with the tools they need to make sound financial decisions.

Driver Education 

The Auto Club Group Foundation wants to ensure everyone has access to quality driver education by supporting scholarships and programming needs in underserved communities.

Disaster Recovery Fund

The Disaster Recovery Fund supports efforts to help cooperatives and their members recovering from natural disasters and other crises or emergency hardship situations.

Our Impact

In the last four years, the Disaster Recovery Fund has provided nearly $750,000 in grants to cooperatives, families and communities affected by disasters in the United States, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Uganda, and Ukraine. 100% of funds raised for various disasters and crises go directly to the cooperatives and cooperative associations in need.

What we fund

• Aid to employees and volunteers of cooperatives and cooperative support organizations to support recovery from disasters or emergencies. Aid can be used towards basic necessities, such as food, clothing, housing (including repairs) transportation and medical assistance (including psychological counseling).
• Aid to cooperatives and cooperative associations by covering uninsured expenses needed to return the business to viability.
• Funding is dependent upon fundraising by cooperative sector.

Review Process

 All applications will be reviewed by CDF's Executive Director. Applications for more than $1,000 will also be reviewed by the CDF Board. All applicants will be notified as to the status of their applications. 

Our Mission

Our mission is to bring the transformational benefits of yoga to people with limited access to this practice.

We help yoga teachers, health workers, and charitable organizations offer yoga to those in need — including veterans, prisoners, and individuals facing mental and physical illness. We also work with community partners to increase access to yoga for populations that face systemic bias and prejudice.

Mat Grants

We believe a yoga mat can change a life.

Our Mat Grants Program provides yoga teachers with supplies to kickstart yoga outreach projects. We supply and ship free mats to support projects that focus on:

• Accessibility
• Offer yoga to individuals who might otherwise never have the opportunity to practice
• Equity  
• Challenge inequities and expand access to health promoting practices, especially in communities that have faced systemic oppression
•  Health
• Share the transformational benefits of yoga with populations that face physical and mental illness
• Community
• Work to connect populations (e.g. police officers and court-involved youth) and forge relationships to support healthy communities

What We Support

Community Grant Program

Republic Services proudly partners with many local nonprofit charitable organizations making a difference nationwide. Through our Community Grant program, we support local nonprofit organizations in the areas where our employees and customers live and work. This program allows for an open application process with a preference on addressing neighborhood revitalization, safety, disaster relief and social services.

Program Guidelines

In order to be considered for support, all interested organizations must start by completing an online application. We do not accept applications via email, fax, mail, or in-person at our local offices or Corporate headquarters. Should you have an employee referral, please specify the referral source in the online application. Any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization within our service areas located within the United States may apply once annually through the Community Grant application process.

Mission

AIDS United’s mission is to end the HIV epidemic in the United States.

In the ongoing work for social justice and true equity, ending the HIV epidemic in the United States is our chosen role. We’ve seen firsthand how the intersectionality of social injustice, discrimination and health care disparity impacts those living with HIV, and we believe alleviating this struggle is a pivotal step toward our national well-being.

Vision

AIDS United envisions a time when all people, governments, and organizations commit to ending the epidemic and strengthening the health, well-being, and human rights of everyone impacted by HIV.

Harm Reduction Futures Fund

The Harm Reduction Futures Fund (formerly the Syringe Access Fund) is a collaborative grantmaking initiative that seeks to reduce the health, psychosocial, and socioeconomic disparities experienced by people who use drugs (PWUD). The Harm Reduction Futures Fund invests in evidence-based and community-driven approaches to prevent the transmission of both HIV and viral hepatitis, reduce injection-related injuries, increase overdose prevention and reversal efforts, and connect people who use drugs to comprehensive prevention, treatment, and support services.

The Harm Reduction Futures Fund will award grants this Round to three kinds of organizations:

• syringe services programs providing direct services,
• harm reduction organizations supporting multiple syringe service programs providing direct services

Please note, we are currently not offering advocacy grants. At this time only direct service applications will be accepted. 

Purpose

The primary goal of the Harm Reduction Futures Fund is to provide core support for programs that demonstrate:

• an ability to provide high quality syringe and other drug user health services to one or more identified communities

The Harm Reduction Futures Fund seeks to identify and support organizations across intersecting movements to enhance and coordinate services for people who use drugs. It supports and funds organizations that are led by and/or meaningfully involve and serve networks of people who use drugs, including in the design, delivery, and evaluation of services. In Round 16, the Harm Reduction Futures Fund will prioritize support for programs that are led by and serve Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC), as well as those in jurisdictions of high need and low resources. Other compelling factors may include the leadership of current or former sex workers; prevalence of HIV, viral hepatitis, and other blood-borne pathogens in a community; injection drug use prevalence; opioid use; overdose incidence; availability of local funding.

Funding

AIDS United expects to provide one-year cash grants to a total cohort of  7 to 15 organizations.

• Direct Service organizations are invited to submit proposals for $10,000 to $25,000 for one year.
  • AU anticipates 5-13 programs will receive funding
• Multi-Program Support organizations are invited to submit proposals for $25,000 to $40,000 for one year.
  • AU anticipates 1 program will receive funding

Mano Amiga Program 

The Mano Amiga Program, available through both the Plaza Las Américas Foundation and the Plaza Del Caribe Foundation, was created to contribute to Puerto Rico's social improvement by supporting the efforts of non-profit entities related to the priorities of the foundations. Mano Amiga currently provides grant support for education, arts and culture, health and women's empowerment programs.

The August 2025 edition of the Mano Amiga Program is aimed at supporting non-profit entities that offer services mainly in the following areas:

Education

Only those tutoring/curriculum supplement programs, early childhood, vocational and college access, and educational programs targeting populations with functional diversity will be evaluated.

Art and culture

In this area, requests for artistic training programs in the areas of music, dance, theater, painting, crafts and literature will be considered. Those offering sustained access to artistic and cultural activities may also be considered. Proposals that are only for the presentation of exhibitions will not be evaluated.

Support for programs aimed at providing tools and mechanisms to help community groups address problems related to the following chronic diseases in pediatric or older adults: cardiovascular conditions, cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer's disease. Chronic diseases are defined as conditions that usually develop slowly, tend to have a long duration and their severity progresses over time. Programs for children and youth on the autism spectrum will also be considered.

Women Empowerment

Programs will be evaluated to provide tools to help ensure the physical, mental and emotional safety of survivors of gender-based violence, and of women who wish to re-enter the workforce and become self-sufficient.

Since 2013, the Autism Speaks Local Impact Grant Program has awarded over $3.6 million to 750 organizations across the country and served tens of thousands of people with autism, their caregivers and families, teachers, therapists and neurotypical peers.

The Autism Speaks Local Impact Grant Program accepts applications from non-profit, 501(c)3 organizations for grant awards up to $5,000.

The objective of the Autism Speaks Local Impact Grants is three-fold:

• to promote local services that enhance the lives of those affected by autism spectrum disorders
• to expand the capacity to effectively serve the ASD community
• to increase the field of national service providers

Autism Speaks places a significant emphasis on the product or deliverable of each proposal to benefit the autism community beyond those participating in the program. Deliverables include videos, manuals and curricula that may be shared on the Autism Speaks website for the broader community. In addition, Autism Speaks seeks to ensure proposals provide opportunities for individuals with varying levels of need. Careful consideration will also be given to applications that specifically address the needs of underserved communities - which can include rural towns, non-English speaking populations, and other vulnerable groups.

The grant period is seven-nine months, beginning once the check is received.

Ms. Foundation for Women

The mission of the Ms. Foundation for Women is to build women’s collective power in the U.S. to advance equity and justice for all. We achieve our mission by investing in, and strengthening, the capacity of women-led movements to advance meaningful social, cultural and economic change in the lives of women.

Birth Justice Initiative

In 2022, Ms. Foundation for Women launched our first national, open call request for proposals for our Birth Justice Initiative to support Black, Indigenous, and people of color communities in addressing racial based health disparities in birth experiences and birth outcomes. Through this initiative, Ms. will mobilize funding and capacity building resources nationally to organizations implementing birth justice strategies rooted in movement building and organizing.

The Birth Justice Initiative will build upon our decades of experience supporting grassroots leaders fighting for reproductive justice. The overall goals of our initiative are to:

• Build power within the birth justice movement
• Increase connectivity and collaboration between Birth Justice Organizations and movement leaders.
• Provide philanthropic advocacy, thought partnership, and thought leadership, to influence the movement of more resources to the Birth Justice movement.

We are committed to deepening our investment in grassroots Black, Indigenous and WGOC-led organizations working toward achieving birth justice. In our first round of grant making, we will invest over $1,000,000 in support of birth justice organizations across the spectrum of movement building and organizing, and supporting our communities to advance more equitable birth outcomes.

Syringe Access Program

Since 1992, the Comer Family Foundation has provided support to harm reduction-centered syringe access programs (SAP) to improve the health and wellness of people affected by drug use. These programs provide free sterile syringes, education, and often community wraparound services to reduce opioid overdose and the transmission of HIV and viral hepatitis.

Funding Priorities:

• Organizations in geographic areas in which access to sterile syringes can be dramatically improved
• Organizations serving areas in which policy improvements can have local, state, and/or national impact
• Organizations serving areas with higher HIV/AIDS and HCV prevalence, injection drug use prevalence, overdose incidence
• Organizations led by and for Black, Indigenous, and people of color
• Organizations led by people who use drugs
• Organizations with limited funding available for harm reduction
• Organizations actively developing local and community financial support
• Statewide strategic partnerships

The OneCause Corporate Grants Program provides nonprofit organizations access to OneCause software products and services to help expand their collective impact. The Home Depot Foundation

The Home Depot Foundation works to improve the homes and lives of U.S. veterans, train skilled tradespeople to fill the labor gap and support communities impacted by natural disasters. Since 2011, the Foundation has invested more than $550 million in veteran causes and improved more than 65,000 veteran homes and facilities. The Foundation has pledged to invest $750M in veteran causes by 2030 and $50 million in training the next generation of skilled tradespeople through the Path to Pro program.

The Foundation's Veteran Housing Grants Program awards grants to nonprofit organizations for the new construction or rehabilitation of permanent supportive housing for veterans. Awards typically range from $100,000 to $500,000.

NDN Collective

NDN is an Indigenous-led organization dedicated to building Indigenous power. Through organizing, activism, philanthropy, grantmaking, capacity-building and narrative change, we are creating sustainable solutions on Indigenous terms.

Community Self-Determination Grants 

Purpose and Approach

Community Self-Determination Grants are intended to support community-based and community-driven sustainable solutions in all three of NDN Collective’s core strategies to Defend, Develop and Decolonize. Grants are intended to support and invest in the long-term visions and sustainability of Indigenous communities and Indigenous-led organizations, fortifying the self-determination of Indigenous Peoples to create a just, equitable, and sustainable world for all people and the planet. Significant, flexible, multi-year funding will include the infusion of general operating support, capacity building, capital and holistic support for comprehensive initiatives and specific programs.

Community Self-Determination Grants are intended to strengthen and leverage long-term financial sustainability of Indigenous-led organizations, including capital support and investments. This type of funding will not only give Indigenous organizations the kind of runway that has been long understood as healthy for startups and private-sector companies, but transformative for community-based and grass-roots organizations, including those who are closest to the issues and the impact. While we fund national efforts, we intentionally prioritize grassroots, community-based efforts. Climate justice and Indigenous justice are at the heart of the intent behind the Community Self-Determination Grant.

NDN’s grantmaking approach is based on reciprocity and mutual aid, which may include thought partnership and capacity building resources. Relationship is at the core of this approach, encouraging systemic change and participation in which the people most affected take responsibility for one another and for changing systemic conditions. It is up to the community to determine the steps for true self-determination. NDN funds can support the material needs of communities while also addressing root causes and solution building that is shaped by the community. This approach encourages innovative, creative and free thinking for long-term change.

NDN will remain steadfast in its commitment to uphold and advance regenerative, Earth-centered principles of community and economic development. ‘Regenerative’ is the ability to regrow, renew or restore, particularly after loss or damage. NDN’s commitment to a new and better normal is also part of community self-determination, resilience and sustainability, therefore NDN seeks to support Tribes, Indigenous nations, communities and organizations who are also committed to more innovative, sustainable solutions. NDN is deeply committed to supporting Indigenous sovereignty and self-determination that supports justice and equity for people and the planet.

These principles and the NDN Collective’s framework of Defend, Develop, Decolonize will be utilized as a lens in which to review and select grantee-partners.

Community Driven Solutions

Because this program focuses on community-driven solutions, we encourage larger nations and organizations to coordinate among your various departments to submit an application reflecting your community’s efforts to Defend, Develop and Decolonize.

It is the intent of NDN Collective to provide meaningful support across multiple regions, therefore, applicants will be expected to describe their community self-determination efforts within one of the following strategic focus areas that is best suited for their community’s intentions and goals. New or expanded initiatives, or capacity building of existing efforts and entities may also be supported.

Defend

Efforts may include but are not limited to protecting and reclaiming lands, water, and natural resources, such as:

• Grassroots, frontline organizing and community mobilization to defend and protect clean water, air and land from extractive industries and exploitation;
• Indigenous-led environmental movements and efforts to stop the extraction of the earth’s natural resources on and near tribal territories.
• Direct action efforts of the climate and environmental justice movement.

Develop

Efforts may include but are not limited to community and economic development/resilience based on sustainable, regenerative principles, climate change solutions and mitigation, such as:

• Sustainable food systems, food sovereignty and security initiatives; sustainable community agriculture, gardens, food harvesting and processing, community hunting and fishing, sustainable herd management, shared community food pantries and food distribution;
• Community water initiatives; protecting or developing clean water sources; community pumps or wells, water purification and sanitation, ecological wastewater treatment systems, such as constructed wetlands, greywater systems, and composting toilet implementation, and bioremediation of contaminated soils and water;
• Community planning and implementation of sustainable, regenerative, and innovative solutions for community preparedness and resiliency;
• Renewable energy sources, i.e.; wind, solar, geo-thermal
• Energy transition that is environmentally, socially and economically just; that reduces carbon emissions and footprints; Net-Zero initiatives;
• Financial planning and transition to new or alternative revenue streams based on regenerative principles of economic and community development;
• Resilient and regenerative infrastructure improvements or development, including housing, broadband or increased internet speed and capacity; improved or upgraded software systems and technological training to support virtual and tele-abilities to learn, access health, conduct business, up-to-date communications access;
• Capital investments for economic mobility to diversify economies, long-term regenerative business development in various sectors, including decreasing risk of a larger investment; investments in building the capacity of people through education, training, and consulting to be well-equipped leaders in creating just, and resilient economies and infrastructure.

Decolonize

Efforts may include, but are not limited to intergenerational transmission and continuity of language, culture, ceremonial practices, traditional governance and decision-making structures, and lifeways, such as:

• Governance and leadership transformation, transition or development grounded in Indigenous values and practices, including constitutional reforms, reintegration of traditional governance structures, or decentralized, consensus-based decision making practices;
• Indigenous health and safety; providing and reclamation of Indigenous health, wellness, community care, healing and medicinal practices, including social, emotional, and cultural support;
• Language revitalization – Community immersion programs; teacher preparation and language apprentice programs; family language nests;
• Decolonized education models;
• Youth, family and community initiatives to restore, renew and support Indigenous language, cultural practices, creativity and lifeways;
• Community harmony, safety and protection efforts, including addressing physical and sexual violence; Indigenous peace-making and conflict resolution initiatives, community restorative justice practices, protocols and teachings.

Funding

Grants of $100,000 per year, with commitments of two years, are available to Indigenous-led organizations working in the defense, development, and/or decolonization of Indigenous Peoples and Mother Earth, with a maximum grant award of $200,000 for commitments over two years.  

Supporting innovative temporary public art projects that enhance the vibrancy of cities.

Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Public Art Challenge encourages mayors to partner with artists, elevating the value of including the creative sector when developing solutions to significant urban issues. The program supports temporary public art projects that celebrate creativity, enhance urban identity, encourage public-private collaborations, and strengthen local economies.

Over 600 cities have applied to the three challenges, where mayors of U.S. cities with 30,000 residents or more submit proposals for projects that demonstrate close partnership between artists, arts organizations and city government, with selected cities receiving up to $1 million each.

Supporting Historic Sacred Places

A program of Partners for Sacred Places in collaboration with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the National Fund for Sacred Places provides financial and technical support for community-serving historic houses of worship across America.

What We Offer

The National Fund for Sacred Places provides matching grants of $50,000 to $250,000 to congregations undertaking significant capital projects at historic houses of worship, along with wraparound services including training, technical assistance, and planning support.

What We’re Looking For

The National Fund for Sacred Places assesses applicant eligibility according to the core criteria shown below, while also striving to build a diverse participant pool that reflects a broad range of geographic, cultural, and religious identities.

Historic, Cultural, or Architectural Significance

We are looking for buildings that have historic, cultural, or architectural significance—and sites that have important and relevant stories to tell. Many of our participants are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the state register, or the local register. Your building does not have to be on one of these lists, but eligibility for one or more of these lists is a good benchmark for National Fund eligibility.

As part of the National Trust’s commitment to telling the full American story, we particularly encourage congregations to apply that illuminate a unique or overlooked aspect of American history and that expand our understanding of our shared national heritage. We encourage submissions related to historic sacred places of importance to historically and contemporaneously underrepresented communities including, but not limited to, women, immigrants, Asian Americans, Black Americans, Latinx Americans, Native Americans, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and LGBTQIA communities.

Successful applicants are able to demonstrate their place in history by answering questions such as:

• Does the building tell a story relevant to our history—either cultural or religious?
• Does the history highlight previously underrecognized communities, stories, or locations?
• How has the building served the community over time? Does the building have a great physical presence in its community due to its location or programming?
• Is the building the work of a notable architect? If so, is it a high-quality example of their body of work?
• Is the building an exceptional example of its architectural style or building technology?
• Does the building embody the congregation’s resilience over time?

Community-Serving Congregations

We are looking for congregations that are engaged in their communities and that are serving others. Engaged congregations operate and host programming that serves vulnerable, at-risk, and diverse populations; share space with non-affiliated groups and organizations (often at subsidized rates); work with other congregations, faith-based organizations, nonprofit organizations, and/or municipalities; and have a widespread reputation for being a welcoming center of community life.

Project Scope and Need

We fund historic preservation projects addressing urgent repair needs and/or life safety. We also fund projects that increase congregations’ ability to open their buildings to new populations or to serve greater numbers of people. All projects must adhere to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation, which is a universally accepted framework for doing work to older and historic properties.

We prioritize congregations/projects where there is a demonstrated need (meaning that the congregation cannot raise the funds alone) or where it is clear that our grant will have a catalytic effect (meaning that our grant is likely to lead to additional monies being contributed to the project).

Readiness

Once-in-a-generation capital projects require a great deal of planning. We are looking for applicants that understand their buildings’ needs and that are ready to undertake a capital campaign. National Fund congregations typically have a history of successful capital campaigns, which demonstrate an ability to raise significant funds and complete a project.

Successful congregations come to us with a realistic fundraising goal, which has been generated with the help of qualified preservation professionals and is not too far beyond the congregation’s fundraising capacity.

Healthy Congregations

The National Fund prioritizes healthy, stable congregations so that our investment is truly impactful and lasting. We look for the following, although this is not an exhaustive list of characteristics that indicate healthy congregations: tenured, well-respected clergy; capable lay leadership; stable or growing membership; financial strength and stability; support of the judicatory or governing body, if applicable; and a history of weathering any congregational conflict or trauma with resilience.

Background

The Citi Foundation’s Global Innovation Challenge is an open call for applications or request for proposals (RFP) designed to provide catalytic grant funding to community organizations across the world. This year, the Foundation invites proposals from community organizations developing innovative employment solutions for low-income youth primarily between the ages of 15 and 24.

Funding Overview

Despite recent progress, young people globally continue to experience challenges in their pursuit of employment, including skills mismatch and gaining access to quality jobs. According to the International Labour Organization, 65 million young people globally are unemployed. Since the Citi Foundation’s inception, advancing youth employability has been integral to our mission of supporting low-income communities globally. The Citi Foundation invested more than $300 million over the last decade alone in programs that supported over one million young people in expanding their skills, experience and networks through its Pathways to Progress initiative. Building on our funding journey, this year’s Global Innovation Challenge is focused on youth employability, and we invite proposals from community organizations developing innovative employment solutions for low-income youth primarily between the ages of 15 and 24

These innovative solutions could include, but are not limited to:

• Technical and vocational training programs that upskill or reskill low-income youth and move them into employment, which could include paid internships, apprenticeships or formal employment.
• Entrepreneurship programming that specifically focuses on the incubation or scaling of youth-led enterprises to increase job creation and access to selfgenerated income.
• Efforts to embed financial education programming into workforce development initiatives equipping low-income youth with financial skills and access to safe and affordable financials tools. 

AARP Community Challenge

The AARP Community Challenge grant program is part of the nationwide AARP Livable Communities initiative that helps communities become great places to live for residents of all ages. The program is intended to help communities make immediate improvements and jump-start long-term progress.

Since the program's debut in 2017, AARP has awarded $20.1 million through over 1,700 grants. Projects have been completed across all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Demonstration Grant

This opportunity funds projects that encourage the replication of promising local efforts. Grants tend to fall between $10,000 and $20,000 and will not exceed $25,000.

The demonstration grant opportunity will accept applications for projects that benefit residents, especially those age 50 and older, in the following categories:

• Enhancing pedestrian safety by creating safer streets and sidewalks, with a focus on people age 50-plus, with funding support from Toyota Motor North America.
• Expanding high-speed internet (broadband) access and adoption, with a focus on people age 50-plus, with funding support from Microsoft.
• Reconnecting communities divided by infrastructure, with a focus on people age 50-plus, as highlighted in the award-winning AARP Livable Communities article series Before the Highway.
• Implementing housing design competitions that increase community understanding and encourage policies that enable greater choice in housing, with a focus on people age 50-plus, by using the AARP Housing Design Competition Tool Kit.

AARP Community Challenge

Flagship Grant

Flagship AARP Community Challenge grants have ranged from several hundred dollars for smaller, short-term activities to tens of thousands of dollars for larger projects. Since 2017, AARP has funded projects with an average grant amount of $10,000 to $12,000. Nine out of 10 grants (or 92 percent) are for $20,000 or less.

This year, grants will not exceed $25,000. AARP also reserves the right to award compelling projects of any dollar amount.

We are accepting applications for projects that benefit residents — especially those age 50 and older — in the following categories:

• Creating vibrant public places that improve open spaces, parks and access to other amenities.
• Delivering a range of transportation and mobility options that increase connectivity, walkability, bikeability and access to public and private transit
• Supporting a range of housing options that increases the availability of accessible and affordable choices
• Increasing digital connections and enhancing digital literacy skills of residents
• Supporting community resilience through investments that improve disaster management, preparedness and mitigation for residents

Who We Are

Mosaic is a national funder and field catalyst that boosts the collective power of climate, conservation, and environmental health and justice movements in the United States to achieve durable, population-scale wins. A participatory grantmaker governed by a Leadership Council of grassroots, nonprofit, and philanthropy movement leaders, Mosaic supports the connectivity and shared tools — also known as movement infrastructure — advocates and activists need to build and exercise power across demographics, geographies, and issue silos.

Building Bridges

As we enter into a new federal administration, networks, organizations, and leaders are aligning around effective offensive and defensive strategies to protect gains and continue making progress at the state and local level while expanding and strengthening their long-term power base. Our movement landscape analysis and community feedback highlight the need for movement infrastructure to build bridges that create more powerful coalitions, strengthen narrative capacity to build influence,  break down silos, and more directly enroll the movement in defending democracy. Mosaic’s grant cycle will expand on our previous grantmaking to support this work.

Specifically, we will support projects that build bridges within and across environmental movements, and between environmental and other aligned constituencies and movements, and also address one or more of the following sub-focus areas:

• Building narrative power:
  • Strengthening communications, storytelling and public understanding around climate and environmental justice.
  • Developing and deploying shared narrative resources and strategic communications to widen the environmental movement tent and catalyze action.
  • Examples include:
    • Narrative training programs that amplify underrepresented voices and counter misinformation.
    • Strategic communications campaigns highlighting benefits of green investments, such as job creation in economically marginalized communities.
    • Projects that cultivate and distribute shared narratives that instill agency and activate individuals, or that deploy these collective narrative strategies at scale to translate ideas into action and impact.
• Leveraging the environmental movement to defend democracy:
  • Protecting democratic processes, institutions, and leaders essential to movement success.
  • Building diverse constituencies and shared resources to protect democratic institutions, processes, and leaders essential to the success of our movements.
  • A diverse, pluralistic environmental movement can be an anchor for a powerful civil society as we face unprecedented threats to democratic institutions and practices that simultaneously threaten the health and safety of our communities and our planet.
  • Examples include:
    • Collaborative efforts between climate organizations and democracy-focused groups to safeguard democratic structures, such as federal agencies or public participation processes.
    • Bipartisan initiatives to counter industry capture and ensure equitable representation in energy planning.
    • Coalitions working to protect public participation processes and protect or create spaces for civic participation.
• Breaking down silos:
  • Within climate, conservation, and environmental health and justice movements or across issues.
  • Fostering coordination within environmental, climate, environmental health and justice movements or between environmental and other movements (e.g., labor, immigration).
  • Examples include:
    • Bridging divides between large, national environmental organizations and community-based groups to develop an aligned state or local-level strategy.
    • Building cross-sector partnerships to implement and defend IRA investments.

Objectives

Building on our previous grantmaking, the movement infrastructure these grants support will bolster groups’ ability to achieve their near- and long-term objectives, both offensive and defensive:

• Offense:
  • Seizing state and local opportunities to drive policy change, implement federal policies like the IRA and IIJA, and protect gains while building long-term power across diverse coalitions.
• Defense:
  • Safeguarding progress from the past several years, including defending federal climate investments like the IRA and IIJA, and addressing emerging threats through broad coalitions.

Funding Tracks

Mosaic is inviting applications between $50,000-$300,000 in the following tracks:

• Seed (Single-year | $50K–150K): 
  • Piloting new and innovative movement infrastructure projects with startup funding. Focus on testing new ideas, piloting innovative efforts, and laying the groundwork for future impact.
• Cultivate (Single or Multi-year | $200K–300K total): 
  • Supporting and cultivating the capacity of existing collaborative movement infrastructure efforts to sustain their work or achieve a new level of scale and impact. Helps organizations strengthen capacity, scale, and deepen impact.
• Harvest (Single-year | up to $150K–250K):
  • Actualizing existing movement infrastructure near a specific tipping point (big win, victory, outcome, etc.) with targeted last-mile resources. Ensures organizations have what they need to leverage a major opportunity or fully realize an outcome.

These tiers provide general guidelines, but we recognize that movement infrastructure projects are dynamic. If your project does not fit neatly into one category, we encourage you to apply under the tier that best matches your needs and impact goals. We are open to discussing flexible approaches.

The Black-Led Movement Fund (BLMF), based at Borealis Philanthropy, supports the Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) and other politically-aligned organizations to better shape policy agendas for Black communities, create alternatives to institutions that have been harmful to Black people, and build local Black community power. The BLMF is a donor collaborative that provides a dedicated vehicle for funders to support the ecosystem of grassroots, Black-led power building organizations working towards community safety, justice and liberation. 

The Black-Led Movement Fund is rooted in a commitment to:

• Intersectional feminism and the leadership of Black queer and trans people, as well as women/femmes/girls;
• Funding organizations addressing the root causes of anti-Black racism, misogyny, ableism, xenophobia, homophobia, and transphobia;
• Being adaptive, flexible and responsive;
• Funding work that centers Black joy;
• Resourcing anchor organizations in interconnected movement ecosystems, and
• Solidarity, collaboration, and transparency.

The Black-led Movement Fund will provide $183,300 general operating support grants ($91,650 per year) over a two year period, 2025-2027, to U.S. based Black-led power building organizations that are in alignment with the grant eligibility criteria and funding priorities below.

ViiV Healthcare was established to take an innovative approach to the challenge of HIV—and we do. It’s who we are. An innovative approach means we go beyond developing new medicines—we know it takes more to end the epidemic.

Through a combination of community-focused approaches that include deep listening, grantmaking, community engagement, shared learning, and cultural arts programs, we ensure that the voices of the HIV community inform everything we do.

Focus

Our approach to giving has always been about more than money. We Listen. Seeking insights and understanding to foster collaboration and action. We Activate new initiatives and fund community projects where there are the greatest disparities, while connecting individuals and organizations to strengthen networks and services. We Amplify. Sharing insights to illuminate bright spots and drive community solutions. We Sustain. Strengthening leaders, organizations, and communities to build and expand on the momentum of effective work. Through this approach we focus our funding and collaborations on community organizations that are prioritizing work in three key focus areas:

Networks

Strengthen supportive networks for people living with an impacted by HIV and those who serve them

Linkage & Engagement

Support navigation and programs that help link, re-link, and engage people in HIV prevention, treatment, and care

Advocacy

Amplify the efforts of people living with and impacted by HIV to advocate for themselves, strengthen leadership, insights, and culture activities that reduce stigma, and fuel community responses.

Funding

ViiV Healthcare’s Positive Action Community Grants (PACG) initiative is currently requesting proposals to support:

• The health and well-being of people living with HIV through innovative, community-led solutions that address disparities in the epidemic, and;
• Strong prevention infrastructure for communities of color, fueling new ways to reach and engage people in HIV prevention, shift the narrative around risk, and fuel networks that help disrupt disparities in HIV prevention.

Organizations applying to Positive Action Community Grants may request funding in the following three categories:

• General operating support for core support and mission-driven community-based work.
• Special events sponsorships for conferences and events that foster networks, create awareness, and amplify the voices of people living with HIV and AIDS.
• Project support for organizations implementing innovative projects within ViiV Healthcare’s focus areas: linkage to care, networks of support, and advocacy. ViiV Healthcare is particularly interested in efforts that operate at the intersection of HIV, stigma, and other social determinants of health in the following ways:
  • Expanding harm reduction services and advocacy to successfully engage people who use drugs in care, and support their families and communities;
  • The decriminalization of HIV at the local and national level;
  • Increasing access to quality and culturally responsive sexual health education;
  • Activating arts and culture as a tool for community engagement, connection, and building empathy;
  • Increasing access to and awareness of the mental health needs of people living with or vulnerable to HIV.

Community Connect Program

What is the Community Connect Grants Program?

The purpose of the Community Connect Program is to provide financial assistance in the form of grants to eligible applicants that will provide, on a “community -oriented connectivity” basis, broadband service that fosters economic growth and delivers enhanced educational, health care, and public safety benefits. 

Program Benefits

The Community Connect Program helps rural communities extend access where broadband service is least likely to be commercially available, but where it can make a tremendous difference in the quality of life for people and businesses. The projects funded by these grants help rural residents tap into the enormous potential of the Internet for jobs, education, healthcare, public safety, and community development.

Rural Development Key Priorities:

The Agency encourages applicants to consider projects that will advance the following key priorities (more details available at https://www.rd.usda.gov/​priority-points):

• Creating More and Better Markets.
  • Assisting rural communities to recover economically through more and better market opportunities and through improved infrastructure.
• Advancing Racial Justice, Place-Based Equity, and Opportunity.
  • Ensuring all rural residents have equitable access to RD programs and benefits from RD funded projects.
• Addressing Climate Change and Environmental Justice.
  • Reducing climate pollution and increasing resilience to the impacts of climate change through economic support to rural communities

Abbey Mural Prize

Created in 1932 through an endowed bequest in honor of illustrator and muralist Edwin Austin Abbey NA, the Abbey Mural Prize awards grants to support the creation and restoration of public murals in the United States. Since 1940, the National Academy of Design has awarded funds to hundreds of individuals or organizations who are building on a tradition of public murals as instruments of social activism, neighborhood revitalization, and community engagement.

Selection Criteria

• Conceptual strength or compelling justification of impact as outlined in the proposal.
• Applicants' and/or Project Leads’ demonstrated ability to execute a high-quality end result.
• Feasibility of the project scope within the budget outlined in the application and appropriate use of Abbey Mural Prize funds.
• Connection or relationship to the community that will be impacted by the project.
• Projects must have an intended start date before June 30, 2026.

Funding

• Grants typically range from $10,000 to $40,000 USD in minimally restricted support for the production and installation of mural(s) on and within public buildings and on buildings owned by charitable institutions.
• The jury reserves the right to award grantees full or partial funding in any amount.
• Up to the $125,000 total awarded annually.

True Inspiration Awards

The True Inspiration Awards® program was created in 2015 to honor the legacy of Chick-fil-A® founder S. Truett Cathy. Through these annual grants, it is our pleasure to celebrate and support nonprofit organizations making an impact in their local communities.

S. Truett Cathy Honoree

One organization will be selected as the S. Truett Cathy Honoree. The S. Truett Cathy Honoree embodies the generous, innovative spirit of Chick-fil-A’s late founder — pioneering new ways to solve problems and serve others.

Category winners

In 2025 we will continue to support nonprofits with a total commitment of $6 million in grants ranging from $30,000-$350,000.

Sixteen organizations will be awarded for their work in these areas.

Caring for People (four winners): Programs or projects supporting educational initiatives, including fostering character and leadership development, academic excellence and community involvement in underserved youth.

Caring through Food (four winners): Programs or projects focused on addressing hunger and food insecurity facing children and their families.

Community (four winners): Programs or projects focused on providing housing and other direct services to support young people and their families.

Caring for our Planet (four winners): Programs or projects that show care for our environment and our planet, or that demonstrate environmental stewardship through initiatives directly related to our other True Inspiration Awards categories of food, community and people (i.e., community beautification, education opportunities, community gardens, outdoor classrooms, etc.) 

Community Solutions Challenge 

The Community Solutions Challenge (CSC), launched in 2021, works to advance health equity through the support of community-based nonprofit programming that prioritize the social, cultural, and linguistic needs of historically excluded and disenfranchised populations. To date, CSC has provided more than $2.6 million to over 100 local nonprofit programs working to address health inequities and advance opportunities in STEM among underserved communities.

Program Focus: Community-based programs must cover one of the following areas:

Nutrition

Address nutrition as a social determinant of health, including reducing food insecurity and providing comprehensive nutritional education to improve health outcomes.

Healthcare Access

Improve access to quality healthcare by addressing barriers, including health education, access to preventive screenings, and transportation services.

Lung Health

Improve lung health and achieve improved health outcomes for those impacted by asthma, COPD and lung cancer
