ECF of Boeing Washington: Puget Sound

The Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound (ECF) is a pooled fund consisting of recurring payroll contributions from generous Boeing employees. ECF is managed by a Board of Trustees made up of eight employees elected by the donors. 

ECF funds equipment, renovations and capital campaigns. ECF seeks the “direct client benefit” of each grant to ensure that our employees’ contributions directly help those in need.

The Employees Community Fund should not be confused with The Boeing Company. They are two separate funding entities with different focus areas.

Supporting Grants

Consideration is given to nonprofits that are performing well and are seeking to upgrade, replace or modify elements of their infrastructure. These grants help agencies continue to effectively provide services and enhance their direct client benefit by aiding them in procuring items and equipment such as (but not limited to):

• Equipment (office, kitchen, industrial, furniture, etc.)
• Vehicles used to support clients and/or transport food & goods
• Phone systems
• Remodels and/or renovations (must own, or hold at least a 10-year lease)
• Purchase or construction of new buildings
• Computers for direct client benefit/use

Grant Amount: Supporting grants generally do not exceed $40,000. The request amount cannot be more than 10% of an agency’s gross annual revenues.

The Baker Foundation Grant supports 501c3 non-profit organizations primarily in Pierce County, Washington. This program prioritizes impactful community initiatives in education, arts, economic opportunity, health, and quality of life. Eligible applicants include public charities and federally recognized tribes. The foundation emphasizes collaboration and inclusivity, aiming to address basic human needs and reduce inequity, while fostering vibrant and sustainable communities.

The Black United Fund of Oregon (BUF-OR) provides Community Impact Grants to support the social and economic development of underserved communities in Oregon. Annually, BUF-OR awards grants ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 to nonprofit organizations that align with its mission and focus on BIPOC communities. Eligible organizations must have 501(c)(3) status and operate within Oregon or SW Washington. This initiative aims to empower grassroots organizations and enhance community well-being.

The African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund Grants support the preservation of historic sites that reflect African American cultural heritage. Grants ranging from $50,000 to $150,000 assist projects in areas like Capital Projects, Organizational Capacity Building, Project Planning, and Programming. Eligible applicants include public agencies, accredited colleges, and nonprofits. The program emphasizes themes such as activism, innovation, and historically significant sites, aiming to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of African American history.

Sherwood Trust offers Core Grants to enhance community well-being in the Walla Walla Valley. The Trust prioritizes funding for initiatives that strengthen organizations and support collaboration. Eligible applicants include tax-exempt organizations focused on local needs. With a commitment to equity and sustainability, Sherwood Trust seeks to empower communities through impactful investments, ensuring that all individuals feel a sense of belonging and can contribute to the region's vibrancy.

The Bainbridge Community Foundation's Community Grants Cycle annually supports local nonprofits through grants ranging from $1,000 to $11,000. However, operating costs and certain non-exempt activities are not funded, ensuring that contributions directly benefit the community.

The Washington Fund primarily supports organizations based in Washington and Oregon, focusing on general operating support. Awards typically range from $25,000 to $35,000, with terms of 1-2 years, extendable to 3 for exceptional cases. Priority is given to established partners, particularly in Southwest, Central, and Eastern Washington. To qualify, applicants must be 501(c)(3) charities, operational for at least 12 months, and align with values of inclusion and equity.

The Stimson-Miller Foundation Grant supports civic, cultural, educational, and health-related initiatives in communities where Stimson Lumber Company operates. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) public charities and located within 60 miles of a mill or corporate office. The Foundation prioritizes shareholder-driven projects and specific program support over general operational funding. Note that organizations previously funded are not eligible this year.
