Best Adult Education Grants

Adult learners in Lincoln County pursuing accredited nursing degrees can access funding for higher education and skills training through Samaritan Health Services’ Gribler Loving Trust Nursing Education Scholarship. This U.S. adult education opportunity awards US $3,000 to older students who have completed prerequisites and commit to working within the SPHS system locally after graduation.

Nonprofits and community groups serving Black/African American adults in Stanislaus County can apply for grants from the Stanislaus Community Foundation, with awards up to US $10,000, to support education and community-building programs. Funding may support adult education, financial literacy, workforce development, and health and wellness initiatives that benefit Black communities.

Webster County, WV adult learners pursuing vocational or trade education can access funding through Beckley Area Foundation’s Bill Weese Trades Scholarship to attend trade schools or vocational programs. Recent graduates and career-switchers seeking certification or degree programs that teach specific employment skills may be eligible; the award is renewable with further requirements detailed in the application.

Adults and traditional students pursuing vocational or technical education in Wyoming County, West Virginia can access funding through the Wyoming County Community Fund. Administered by Beckley Area Foundation, this non-renewable scholarship supports residents with a 2.5+ GPA, work experience or strong community service, including GED holders and adults returning to school.

Partners in Giving RFP

This collaborative effort between The Community’s Foundation (TCF) and The Foundation for Delaware County (the Foundation) is designed to support nonprofits serving Delaware County by reducing duplication, improving access to resources, and creating a more seamless funding experience. Through greater alignment of processes, shared expertise, and coordinated opportunities, nonprofits can more easily navigate support systems, strengthen their organizational capacity, while maximizing the collective benefit to the community.

Rather than duplicating efforts, TCF and the Foundation will work side-by-side to identify where joint action can yield greater results, whether through shared tools that make grant applications more accessible, coordinated timelines that reduce administrative burden for grantee partners, or aligned funding priorities that direct resources toward the community’s highest needs.

This approach fosters stronger relationships between the two foundations and with the nonprofit sector, builds mutual understanding of local challenges and opportunities, and reinforces the shared commitment to equitable, high-impact philanthropy in Delaware County.

This spirit of partnership is reflected in specific initiatives that make it easier for nonprofits to engage with both foundations and focus more of their energy on delivering impact.

Funding Priorities

For the 2026 Partners in Giving Grant cycle, this collective effort will consider awarding grant funds to organizations that focus on community development, health, hospice and homecare, support for cancer survivors, and youth development.

Eligible organizations may apply for funding under any of the funding priorities, selecting one area that aligns most closely with their mission and proposed activities. The application should demonstrate outcomes within at least one of the following types of outcomes:

Types of Outcomes

Safety Net – Provide basic assistance to ensure well-being and prevent dire outcomes for individuals facing economic hardship, health issues, or other challenges.

Preventive – Intervene before problems arise, reducing factors that lead to negative outcomes and enhancing protective factors that contribute to well-being and success. This can include Out-Of-School Time programming.

Systems Change – Target the root causes of social issues to change structures, such as public policies and regulations that enable systems to function better.

Organizational Development – Strengthen effectiveness and capacity through planned change in an organization’s processes, systems, structures, or leadership.

Eligible organizations may submit one application to support their efforts in advancing the funding priorities above. Organizations can apply for a single year only.

Partners in Giving: Community Development

The 2026 Partners in Giving initiative will consider awarding grants of up to $10,000 to organizations working alongside Delaware County residents to address community-identified needs and strengthen local connections. Grants may support efforts such as community engagement, planning, or coordination activities, adult education, including English as a Second Language (ESL), and other learning opportunities that expand access, build skills, and elevate resident voice. These grants are intended to help organizations pilot ideas, respond to emerging needs, and lay the groundwork for longer-term community impact.

All grant proceeds must be used to provide programs and services in and for Delaware County residents.

The Zane McMillen Memorial Scholarship

Zane Michael McMillen tragically lost his life in an automobile accident at the age of 19. The Zane McMillen Memorial Scholarship was established in 2015 in order to memorialized Zane's life.

Zane was a 2012 graduate of Kittanning High School. His future plan was to serve his country in the military. Zane was very active and enjoyed a lot of activities that included hunting, guns and target shooting, going to the gym, riding dirt bikes, watching movies, wrestling, Mixed Martial Arts, the great outdoors, and playing video games. He loved hanging out with his friends and quoting lines from his favorite movies. Everyone who had the pleasure to know Zane would agree that he was always smiling and making people laugh. Zane often changed his mind about his career before settling on his goal of joining the military, but always, he was focused on public service so he could give back to the community that made him who he was.

Applicant must:

• Be previous graduate of Armstrong School District
• Be accepted to or enrolled in post-secondary education (an accredited college, university or other post-secondary institution)
• Be pursuing a career in any field involved with public service

The Chadalavada Family Scholarship, established in memory of Vinod Anand Chadalavada (Lakeview HS 2001, U of M 2005 Grad), supports high school seniors and adults from the Lakeview School District who are passionate about healthcare or business. Preference will be given to those pursuing their studies at the university of Michigan. This scholarship seeks individuals who demonstrate exceptional values, strong character, and a commitment to serving others through generous contributions of their time and resources. By investing in these dedicated individuals, the Chadalavada Family aims to continue Vinod's legacy of excellence and community service.

BCPS Life Enhancement Scholarship Fund

The purpose of this fund is to provide support to students who are seeking to enhance their lives - either after high school or later in adulthood whether or not they have a traditional high school diploma or a G.E.D. from Battle Creek Public Schools. The donor stated, "You may be a parent or grandparent who has chosen to place your children in BCPS, a graduating senior, a graduate or even someone who dropped out of BCPS, whatever the scenario, you choose to stick with BCPS and stay associated with the district in some way instead of transferring to another district, that speaks volumes to me. This is the primary reason I established the BCPS Life Enhancement Education Fund, I want to support those who support the district and this fund helps me do that."

Beyond tuition, many funds support total cost of attendance — books, fees, equipment, and in some cases childcare or transportation.

Checks are made payable to the educational institution indicated on the follow-up and mailed directly to the educational institution. Checks are typically mailed in early August.

Frayssignes-Randall Scholarship Fund

The Frayssignes-Randall Scholarship Fund was established by Phillip Pierre Antoine Randall for the purpose of providing scholarships to graduating seniors and adult graduates of Calhoun County high schools. The Scholarship will remember two families who lived and worked in the Battle Creek area from 1900 to the present. Pierre Frayssignes and his wife, Sidonie immigrated from a small village in southern France prior to WW1. Pierre worked initially in Pennsylvania coal mines and ended up in the Battle Creek area. He knew both C W Post and W K Kellogg personally, working for both at different times. At one time he was the oldest and longest-serving Kellogg factory employee. His youngest daughter was Dr. Randall’s mother, Blanche Sidonie Frayssignes. The Randall family were prairie farmers from English/Irish stock who settled in the Climax area in the late 1800s. Floyd and Kitty Randall lost their first farm to the WW2 expansion of Fort Custer and the Battle Creek airfield, moving north to the Assyria area. Their oldest son was Dr. Randall’s father Charles DuWayne Randall. These names and those of their offspring will be found scattered throughout the historical records of Calhoun County and later, throughout the world. These families placed great value on education, hard work and personal responsibility as a means to self-sufficiency. Scholarship assistance to further individual development is consistent with these values.

American Business Women's Association Unity Chapter Education Fund

The American Business Women's Association Unity Chapter Education Scholarship is for high school graduates or non-traditional students residing in Calhoun County and who will be attending a community college, university or technical school. Students enrolling in their second year at that community college or sophomore, junior or senior year at a university and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher are eligible. Nontraditional or returning students must have one semester of an established GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Always A Bearcat Scholarship Fund

The Battle Creek Public Schools Education Foundation board has established the Always A Bearcat Scholarship Fund to fill a need for scholarship support beyond the first year of college. Despite the advantages of a recurring scholarship, the majority of scholarships are, in fact, one-time awards. This leaves sophomores, juniors, and seniors - not to mention graduate students - in search of critical funding to complete their degrees. The Always A Bearcat Scholarship Fund supports upperclassmen, graduate students, and/or adults seeking skilled trades certificates and degrees, helping these students cross the finish line and get into their careers.

At the Community Foundation for Muskegon County, we work with donors, grantees, and advisors to address key community issues.

Paul and Libby Kara Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of Paul M. Kara, who established the Paul and Libby Kara Scholarship of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. The Paul and Libby Kara Scholarship Fund helps graduating seniors or adult/returning students with significant financial need. It is designed to help students with the "last dollars" needed to continue their education. Paul and Libby believe that every student should be able to achieve their educational goals.

Nan Riekse Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of Nan Riekse, who established the Nan Riekse Scholarship of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. Nan Riekse has a lofty dream; it is her desire to inspire. By establishing the Nan Riekse Scholarship and the Nan Riekse Donor Advised Funds, she has taken an important step toward realizing her dream. Her Scholarship will support non-traditional students attending Muskegon Community College who have financial need. Her scholarships will target adult women who may be attending school after raising their children or perhaps rebuilding their lives following a divorce. The Donor Advised Fund will be used to benefit local churches and a senior care center. Nan is an outstanding example of the "Power of One".

Louis S. and Nancy L. Rubinsky Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of Nancy L. Rubinsky, who established the Louis S. and Nancy L. Rubinsky Scholarship of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County in honor of Louis. Lifelong residents of Muskegon, Nancy and Louis Rubinsky, had been active members of the Muskegon community. Louis was a fixture on Western Avenue as a salesman at Vets Clothing. Nancy was active at the Muskegon Community College, first, as an instructor of nursing, and, then, as a Board Trustee. Grants from the fund will mirror the Rubinsky's individual passions. In honor of Louis, the fund will support community education projects in the visual and performing arts and Nancy's interests will be expressed by supporting adult/returning students pursuing nursing degrees.

The Imogene Coca Compassion in Care Scholarship, offered by the Delaware Community Foundation, aims to support Delaware residents pursuing degrees in nursing or medical fields. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and either have been employed for at least five years or hold an Associate's degree from a community college. This one-time award of $2,000 is part of DCF's broader commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and equity in Delaware.

Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts

The Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts, a non-profit public charity, is the leading community foundation in the region, managing charitable funds established by individuals, families, businesses and other non-profit organizations.

Career Readiness and Educational Access

This grant program focuses on preparing local residents for family-supporting jobs through career-related training, post-secondary education and other educational initiatives.

Objective: Advance the economic wellness of residents of North Central Massachusetts by increasing their access to education and effective career development initiatives.

Priority: During this funding cycle, priority will be given to programs that equip residents for family-sustaining employment, including vocational training and pathways to college

Award amounts may be used for tuition, books, and course-related expense.

What educational avenues can I pursue?

The Next Step Education Program supports a wide range of educational and professional development pathways, including:

• Micro-credentials and professional certifications to strengthen skills or secure employment
• Courses or programs that lead to a degree
• Technical and trade school training for hands-on, high-demand careers
• Enhanced skills programs for career advancement or to help obtain new employment, such as Microsoft Office programs and more
• Programs at local BOCES campuses
• Professional licensing programs, including CDL and other industry-specific certifications

The Dr. Christie L. Peterson Scholarship, administered by the Marshall County Community Foundation, aims to empower disadvantaged youth in Marshall County, aged 16 to 21, by providing annual scholarships for trade education. The scholarship is open to all eligible residents and does not require a high school diploma. It fosters community growth by connecting local students with opportunities to learn valuable skills, ensuring a brighter future for the next generation.

The Illinois Community College System Foundation Health Care Scholarship, managed by the John Wood Community College Foundation, offers financial support to Illinois residents enrolled in health care programs. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and a commitment to practice in Illinois or benefit Illinoisans. This scholarship aims to nurture future healthcare leaders by easing their educational expenses, thereby encouraging their pursuit of a career in health care. The scholarship amount is $400.

The Illinois Community College System Foundation Health Trust Scholarship, awarded by the John Wood Community College Foundation, offers financial assistance to students pursuing health-related programs. Recipients must demonstrate the ability to succeed in their chosen field and show financial need. Established in 1984, the JWCC Foundation aims to support students in their educational journey, fostering future leaders through financial support and community engagement. This scholarship provides $400 to eligible students.

The Joanna Orr Memorial Scholarship, supported by the JWCC Foundation, honors the legacy of Joanna Orr, a dedicated nurse. Established for aspiring nurse assistants, this scholarship emphasizes compassion and care in healthcare. Since its inception in 1984, the JWCC Foundation has aimed to empower students through various scholarships, helping them become future leaders in their fields. The scholarship amount varies, reflecting the Foundation's commitment to supporting education and community service.

Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi

The Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi manages 314 donor-established funds and has disbursed over $48 million to support more than 1,000 charitable organizations and activities recommended by its donors, as well as charitable programs established by the foundation. Established in 2002 with a generous grant from the Maddox Foundation, the Community Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 charitable organization. The Foundation serves Bolivar, Coahoma, DeSoto, Leflore, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tunica and Yalobusha counties. 

DeSoto County Business Women

The Desoto County Business Women offer a scholarship each year to a female, non-traditional student at the University of Mississippi Desoto Center. The criteria are as follows:

• Desoto County resident
• Business major
• Female senior
• Non-traditional student

The recipient shall be required to attend one DCBW meeting at our expense.

The Grace Scholarship for Nursing, offered by the John Wood Community College Foundation, provides financial assistance of $100 to female students pursuing a nursing degree. This scholarship aims to support candidates based on their motivational goals articulated in a personal narrative, financial need assessed through income and aid, and academic performance. Established in 1984, the JWCC Foundation strives to empower students and foster future leaders in the healthcare sector.

The Dr. B.J. Rodriguez Scholarship, established by Norman Rodriquez in memory of his father, supports students pursuing health sciences at JWCC. This scholarship honors Dr. Rod's legacy as a dedicated physician in Barry, IL, who served his community from 1957 until his retirement in 1996. With a funding amount of $500, this scholarship represents an investment in the future leaders of the healthcare field. The JWCC Foundation, founded in 1984, plays a crucial role in empowering students through various scholarships.

The Del and Ruth Dougherty Memorial Scholarship, established by Sandy McKelvie in honor of her parents, supports students in health occupations programs. Offered through the JWCC Foundation, which has been advancing educational opportunities since 1984, this scholarship reflects a commitment to help future leaders achieve their academic goals. The award amount varies, providing flexible support to deserving applicants as they pursue their educational aspirations at John Wood Community College.

The Amy Nicole Reichert, RN Scholarship, established by the Wainman family in 2014, supports first-year nursing students transitioning into their second year of the ADN program. With a scholarship amount of $500, it emphasizes the importance of excellent patient-family centered care in nursing practices. Funded by the John Wood Community College Foundation, this scholarship reflects a commitment to fostering future healthcare leaders and enhancing the quality of care provided to patients.

The Brorstrom Scholarship for Nursing, offered by the JWCC Foundation, supports two female students in the LPN Program. Selection criteria include a narrative statement detailing personal and professional nursing goals, financial need based on income and aid, and academic performance. This scholarship, valued at $500 each, aims to empower future nursing leaders by easing their financial burdens and encouraging their educational aspirations.
