The Club was founded in 1914 by strong, enterprising women who wanted a place where smart, motivated and dedicated women could come together in mutual support, united by a love of learning and a desire to make Seattle a better place for everyone. For over a century we have embraced our heritage while growing and evolving as the lives of women have changed.

The Women's University Club of Seattle Foundation (WUCF) contributes to the greater Seattle community in many ways.

Grants to K–12 Music Programs

The CE&O Council of the Women’s University Club Foundation offers funding for Seattle area public schools to support their music programs. 

Music Counts! Grants Program

Twelve years ago, the founding mission of the Community Education & Outreach Council was to benefit the needs of the community. The first project the CE&O Council took up was to build a fund to assist struggling school music programs. The joyful sound of young people making good music is incomparable. Making music is exhilarating and is an integral part of every culture. Today’s school music programs, however, are being threatened by budget cuts, making it extremely difficult to provide good music experiences for the students. More recently, the effects of covid have taken a significant toll on the music programs in schools.

This Music Counts! program has grown from 5 grants awarded in 2011 to over 30 grants awarded annually. Grants for up to $500 (occasionally more for special projects) assist in supplying basic classroom needs such as sheet music, instrument repairs and accessories, educational materials, coaching, and purchase of instruments (xylophones, ukuleles, cajons, drums & percussion instruments, among others).

Each year in May, the CE&O Council hosts a Music Counts! Fundraiser to raise additional funds for this worthy cause. The CE&O Council thanks you for your support and urges you to think of music teachers you may know who could use financial help and encourage them to apply for a grant.

Major Grant Fund

Apply for $50,000 to $200,000 per year, renewable up to two times for a total of three years of funding. Funds may support health-related direct service delivery or advocacy efforts. New for 2026, Major Grant funds can also support evaluation projects.

Funding Principles

Projects funded by the Health Equity Fund should align with the following funding principles:

Improving health outcomes and access

for communities and populations experiencing the deepest and most persistent health and economic disparities in King County.

Actively addressing the issues of systemic, structural, and institutional barriers

including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, income inequality, and other forms of oppression or discrimination that negatively impact healthcare delivery and health outcomes.

Partnering or collaborating with other organizations

to enhance the impact of addressing health disparities.

Building capacity and empowerment

for communities addressing health disparities.

Funding for service delivery is limited to King County. There are no geographic restrictions on the residence of clients served or advocacy efforts, as long as the program can demonstrate the use of funds addressing disparities in health among residents of the Puget Sound region (King, Snohomish, Pierce, and Kitsap counties).

Organizations may not receive two PHPDA grants in the same year for the same project. Applicants can request grant funds for a different project as long as the time period covered by funding ends by the new contract period.

Organizations may only submit one application.

Focus Areas

Specific populations are facing heightened threats to their safety, security, and access to care, and the organizations that support them are experiencing drastic funding cuts. Our Major Grant program aims to support these organizations who are facing disproportionate burdens to their wellbeing. This year, Major Grants will be limited to organizations with projects in one or more of these three focus areas:

• Gender Affirming Care and/or HIV Prevention and Care for LGBTQIA2S+ Communities
• Barrier-Reducing Healthcare Delivery for Immigrant and Refugee Populations that is Responsive to Community Concerns 
• Access to Birth Control and Abortion Care

Life Enrichment Foundation provides direct funding assistance related to recreational activities for individuals and organizations with developmental and physical challenges in an effort to build self esteem and confidence and enable them to succeed in today’s modern world.

Commitment to Community

Life Enrichment Foundation is a local philanthropy that supports people with disabilities in King County. Through the Foundation, individuals of all ages with physical and mental disabilities receive grants and scholarships to participate in Community-Based Recreational Activities ranging from Plays and Dances to Special Olympics. These individuals then transfer the skills and benefits from these activities into their everyday lives, building character and focus to help them succeed in today's modern world.

Mission Statement

To provide funding and scholarships to groups and individuals in King County, WA to allow them to participate in community-based, recreational activities to build confidence and self-esteem allowing them to succeed in today's modern world.

Scholarships

LEF provides funding and scholarships to community programs and individuals that need our assistance the most. The funding is directed and prioritized for those individuals in our community that have or support physical and mental disabilities and face economic hardships. 

Scholarships are funded based on Income. The maximum scholarship amount allowed in one calendar year (Jan. to Jan.) is not to exceed $500.00 for the calendar year.

The Estuary and Salmon Restoration Program (ESRP) offers Shore Friendly Grants aimed at restoring beach systems along Puget Sound’s marine shorelines. The program emphasizes the protection and enhancement of coastal ecosystems, specifically targeting the restoration of beaches and bluffs. By utilizing the best available science and social marketing principles, these grants seek to support sustainable improvements in ecosystem functions, thereby enhancing the natural processes and services provided by these vital areas.

The Operating Support: Launch Grant for Emerging Organizations by 4Culture provides essential funding for new cultural and science organizations in King County. Selected organizations will receive three years of general operating support, allowing them to cover various expenses including start-up costs and staff salaries. The program aims to empower emerging entities to build capacity and enhance community engagement through arts and culture.

The 4Culture: Open 4Culture Grants provide funding up to $2,500 for projects in Arts, Heritage, and Preservation within King County. This initiative aims to support underserved communities and encourage public benefit through compelling events. Eligible applicants include individuals, groups, and small businesses new to 4Culture. The grant prioritizes equity and the advancement of cultural access. Applications are accepted for projects occurring between January 1 and December 31, 2026, with deadlines two months prior to the event.

The Emergency & Unforeseen Grant Program by 4Culture provides crucial support for cultural organizations facing unexpected costs, whether due to emergencies like natural disasters or opportunities for development. Open year-round, this program assists eligible applicants with funding for repairs and renovations to cultural spaces, ensuring that projects align with public benefit and community engagement. By facilitating timely access to resources, it aims to enrich the cultural landscape of King County and support diverse community needs.

The 4Culture Landmarks Capital Grants program supports the preservation of historic buildings and landscapes in King County. By funding projects that enhance community visibility, accessibility, and economic impact, this program fosters a stronger regional identity. Eligible applicants include individuals, businesses, and local governments owning designated historic properties. Grants of up to $30,000 can be used for restoration efforts, emphasizing sustainable practices and public benefit. Projects addressing urgent preservation needs are prioritized, particularly from historically marginalized communities.

The 4Culture Collections Care Grants support King County non-profit heritage organizations in preserving historic artifacts and cultural materials. Grant funds, ranging from $1,000 to $8,000, can be used for assessments, training, conservation, and public benefit projects. The program prioritizes projects that demonstrate feasibility, quality, and impact on the community. New applications will reopen in 2025, as the current grant cycle is on hold due to ongoing federal relief fund disbursements.

The 4Culture Art Projects Grants aim to enrich the cultural landscape of King County by providing funding for artistic endeavors that engage the public. These grants support various projects, emphasizing artistic integrity and community involvement. Eligible applicants include individuals and groups, with a focus on equitable access to funding for historically marginalized communities. The program encourages innovative projects that promote public events and artistic collaboration, fostering a deeper connection between artists and the community.

The Matson Foundation, a corporate entity, emphasizes community involvement through charitable donations. They support a diverse range of areas including maritime conservation, education, human services, culture, and civic programs. Eligible organizations must be qualified non-profits, with a primary focus on community support where Matson operates. The foundation prioritizes projects that engage local communities, ensure sustainability, and demonstrate measurable impact, while adhering to specific eligibility and ineligibility criteria for funding.

The Classroom Enrichment Grant, offered by the Kent Schools Foundation, aims to enhance educational experiences for students in the Kent School District. This initiative supports projects in art, music, STEM, and emotional well-being, among others, with grants typically capped at $500. Educators, including teachers and counselors, are encouraged to apply, ensuring innovative learning opportunities that resonate with students. The Foundation prioritizes applications that align closely with the grant's mission.

The Lucky Seven Foundation

Manson and Frances Backus created "Lucky Seven" with the hope of giving back and improving the community where they lived and prospered for so many years. Since 1996, the Lucky Seven Foundation has provided grants to nonprofit organizations which have included, but were not limited to, those that benefit health, welfare, education, arts, and the environment. As the next generation, we aim to continue their mission.

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation focuses on supporting organizations that empower communities through basic needs, income creation, and stable housing. By investing in health and job opportunities, they aim to enhance economic mobility for low- and moderate-income families. Their partnerships target vulnerable populations, ensuring equitable access to resources that foster community vitality and resilience. This initiative emphasizes the importance of stable housing as a foundation for personal and communal growth.

The 4Culture Heritage Projects Grant Program supports initiatives that make history relevant through exhibits, publications, and oral histories in King County, WA. Grants range from $2,000 to $15,000, funding projects that enhance public access to heritage resources and promote collaborations among diverse communities. The program seeks to broaden historical narratives, focusing on racial equity and inclusion, while ensuring projects benefit underrepresented populations and provide accessible educational opportunities.

It funds research, documentation, education, and advocacy efforts, enhancing public awareness and accessibility to historic sites. Open to individuals and organizations, this grant emphasizes quality, public benefit, equity, and feasibility in project proposals. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate how their projects contribute to the long-term stewardship of important historic resources.

The 4Culture Heritage Professional Development Stipend Grants support King County residents and heritage organizations in enhancing their skills through conferences, workshops, and training sessions. Grants ranging from $100 to $2,000 are available to help individuals and organizations engage in professional development opportunities that align with career goals in the heritage field. This initiative aims to foster informed heritage professionals who can contribute to the community's cultural preservation and education.

The Catherine Holmes Wilkins Charitable Foundation Grant provides funding for qualified medical research and social service agencies in the Puget Sound region. The foundation prioritizes projects in medical research, services for the physically or mentally disabled, and humanitarian efforts, particularly for abused women and children. Average grants range from $2,000 to $5,000, with multi-year grants available under specific conditions. Organizations must operate within the Greater Seattle area and adhere to eligibility criteria, including budget limits.

Kaiser Permanente's Washington Region offers sponsorships to nonprofit organizations, schools, and government agencies that align with its mission to improve community health. With a focus on sustainability, equity, and relationship-building, the program evaluates proposals based on their potential to create lasting value and positive exposure. Ineligible requests include support for religious activities, political campaigns, or individual medical funding, ensuring that resources are directed towards community-driven initiatives that enhance public health.

The National Estuary Program Watersheds Grant Program, administered by Restore America’s Estuaries and supported by the EPA, funds competitive projects addressing critical threats to estuaries. Key priorities include habitat restoration, enhancing coastal resilience against extreme weather, managing nutrient impacts, and mitigating stormwater runoff. Established in 1987, the program aims to improve ecological integrity and water quality in 28 estuaries nationwide, providing essential funding and guidance to local initiatives.

The Kings County Conservation Futures Grant provides essential funding for the Land Conservation Initiative, aimed at preserving vital natural and urban green spaces. This grant supports projects like parks, community gardens, and habitat restoration, particularly in underserved areas. Eligible recipients include local governments and qualified nonprofits. The initiative seeks to enhance community access to open spaces, ensuring that all residents can benefit from nature and recreational opportunities.

The Promoting First Relationships-Agency Training Project aims to engage community-based agencies in training models that enhance parent-child relationships. Funded by the Seattle King County Department of Public Health, this initiative supports applications for varying amounts between $2,000 and $20,000. The project is part of the Best Starts for Kids initiative, which focuses on fostering healthy development for children and families in King County, ensuring they thrive in a supportive environment.

The Leland J. and Dorothy H. Olson Charitable Foundation aims to transform lives in Omaha, NE, and Stanwood, WA, through impactful grants. Focused on education, family support, health initiatives, and environmental preservation, the foundation seeks to address local needs by funding projects that foster community well-being. With an annual funding cycle, they are committed to awarding grants in various amounts to support essential programs that enhance the quality of life for residents in these areas.

The Hypertherm HOPE Foundation Grant supports nonprofit organizations with a mission to create sustainable, positive change in communities. Established in 2010, the foundation prioritizes projects in areas like disaster relief, education, and health. Eligible organizations must have 501(c)(3) status and align with the foundation's values of respect and inclusivity. Grant decisions are made by HOPE teams composed of Hypertherm Associates across various regions, ensuring local needs are met effectively.

The Hypertherm Good Neighbor Grant, offered by the HOPE Foundation, provides financial support of up to $500 to non-profit organizations. Founded in 2010, the Foundation aims to foster collaboration and sustainable change within communities. Grant allocations are made quarterly by a team of volunteer Associates, ensuring alignment with the Foundation's mission of respect and inclusivity. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) or educational entities focused on health, education, and environmental initiatives in specific geographic areas.
