The P/Arts Program

The P/Arts Program was created to strengthen connections between the philanthropic, arts, and education communities, fostering meaningful collaborations that enrich learning and inspire growth.

Eligible applicants must be accredited 501(c)(3) organizations that integrate visual and/or performing arts education into their work. Through P/Arts, we seek to support programs that:

The Point32Health Foundation Grant focuses on advancing equity in aging by providing multi-year, general operating grants to nonprofits in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Program Area Improvements

The Women & Girls Fund Grants, administered by the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut, aim to empower women and girls across Eastern Connecticut through various initiatives. With a focus on equity and social justice, the fund provides support for mentorship, healthy relationships, economic security, and access to health services. It serves regions including Northeast, Norwich, Southeast, and Windham, addressing critical needs while fostering leadership and advocacy for women and girls.

Friends of NRA

Friends of NRA is the National Rifle Association’s premier fundraising program, supporting the future of shooting sports. Since day one, Friends of NRA has been a 100% grassroots effort fueled by a united front to secure the Second Amendment and raise money for the shooting sports.

Committee volunteers are appointed to State Fund Committees to make recommendations for local grant funding in areas such as youth education, women-focused clinics, law enforcement training, hunter safety, range improvement, firearms and marksmanship training and safety. Recognizing the impact American youth has on the future of the shooting sports, State Fund Committees frequently recommend grants for youth programs, allocating the most significant portion of monies to this vital area.

Grant awards fund activities and support programs in the United States to promote firearms and hunting safety, to enhance marksmanship skills of those in the shooting sports, and to educate the public about firearms in their historic, technological and artistic context.

Friends of NRA State Fund Grant Program - Connecticut

The Friends of NRA State Fund Grant Program provides supplies, equipment, and financial support to a variety of qualified groups and programs at the local level; geared towards youth, women, law enforcement, veterans, the disabled, and the general public, including:

• General shooting programs
• Competitive shooting
• Education, training and safety
• Hunting and conservation
• Community outreach
• Historical education

Grant funding must be used to further a charitable purpose as defined by the Internal Revenue Code under section 501(c)(3) and accompanying rules, regulations, and other IRS law and materials.

Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services

The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) promotes and administers comprehensive, recovery-oriented services in the areas of mental health treatment and substance abuse prevention and treatment throughout Connecticut.

While the Department's prevention services serve all Connecticut citizens, its mandate is to serve adults (over 18 years of age) with psychiatric or substance use disorders, or both, who lack the financial means to obtain such services on their own. DMHAS also provides collaborative programs for individuals with special needs, such as persons with HIV/AIDS infection, people in the criminal justice system, those with problem gambling disorders, substance abusing pregnant women, persons with traumatic brain injury or hearing impairment, those with co-occurring substance abuse and mental illness, and special populations transitioning out of the Department of Children and Families.

Building Resilient Youth and Communities with Prevention (BRYCWP)

RFP Purpose

DMHAS seeks to fund up to ten (10) eligible proposers to implement evidence-based prevention strategies aimed at reducing underage drinking / alcohol use and an optional second prevention priority among youth ages 12-20 in communities. Funded organizations will be required to apply the SPF to guide their work, with a focus on reducing risk factors, strengthening protective factors, and achieving sustainable, community-level impact.

Contracts may be awarded for a term of up to five (5) years, and applicants must demonstrate the capacity to lead local prevention coalitions, implement effective strategies, and evaluate outcomes using measurable indicators.

The Connecticut Community Foundation offers the Older Adults: Pathways Grants & Mini-Grants to support programs enhancing the quality of life for older adults. Established in 2009, the fund focuses on healthy aging, community engagement, and educational opportunities. Grants are available to nonprofits and municipalities within a 21-town service area, promoting intergenerational projects and civic participation. The initiative emphasizes collaboration and innovative solutions to meet the needs of the aging population.

The AARP Community Challenge Grant in Connecticut funds projects aimed at enhancing community livability. The Cigna Group Foundation is launching the Improving Youth Mental Health Grant, committing $9 million over three years to enhance mental health support for youth aged five to 18. Nonprofits are encouraged to apply for funding between $100,000 and $150,000 to develop programs that promote social-emotional skills, enhance caregiver support, and improve access to mental health interventions in underserved communities.

The NCAAA Alzheimer’s Aide Grant aims to enhance adult day care services for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias in North Central Connecticut. This initiative, backed by the North Central Area Agency on Aging, will provide funding to support specialized care positions and ensure that centers meet the needs of this vulnerable population. The program underscores NCAAA's commitment to improving the quality of life for older adults and their families through effective resource allocation.

The NCAAA Older American’s Act Grant, managed by the North Central Area Agency on Aging, aims to enhance service systems for older adults in Connecticut. Its objectives include supporting independence, removing barriers to personal and economic freedom, and ensuring a continuum of care for vulnerable seniors. This grant focuses on comprehensive planning, resource development, and advocacy, ensuring older individuals receive the necessary services to thrive in their communities.

By supporting initiatives led by BIPOC artists, the program fosters community engagement through participatory arts, collaboration, and advocacy for underrepresented groups. The Connecticut Community Foundation encourages applications from nonprofit organizations that create impactful cultural experiences, promote economic development, and nurture a diverse, inclusive arts sector, ultimately enriching the community's cultural landscape.

The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven offers grants up to $15,000 through the Community Fund for Women & Girls. This initiative aims to enhance economic security for women by supporting nonprofits focused on workforce training, entrepreneurship, housing stability, and innovative childcare solutions. Eligible organizations must serve the Greater New Haven area and comply with tax-exempt status requirements. Priority is given to programs that provide wraparound services to ensure comprehensive support for women in need.

250th Anniversary of the United States of America Grant

The Community Foundation announces an expansion of its civic engagement grants program to include a grants initiative focused on building democracy as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.

What will be funded: Projects for local school-aged youth to increase their understanding of democracy.

Examples of potential grants

• Projects that highlight untold stories of marginalized people from the past or present such as women, indigenous people, people of color, or young people who have played a role in building, protecting or strengthening democracy.
• Using the arts, theater, music and dance, to connect past (including pre-revolution), present and future to make connections to building a strong civic society.

The Evelyn S. and K.E. Barrett Foundation, established in 2007, is dedicated to enhancing children's health, safety, and education. Founded by Evelyn and Kenneth Barrett, the Foundation focuses on providing opportunities for children in need, both domestically and internationally. The David N. Lane Trust for Aged & Indigent Women Grant supports quality human services and health care for underserved senior women in Fairfield and New Haven Counties, Connecticut. Established in 1964, the grant prioritizes programs that directly benefit this demographic. However, it does not consider requests for capital projects, ensuring funding is directed toward immediate service needs. Organizations must demonstrate a commitment to serving older women in these communities to be eligible.
