Both grant opportunities allow organizations to submit funding requests for projects and activities that advance Vibrant Health for Inland Empire community members and align with IEHPF’s mission, vision, and priorities.

Healthy Communities Grant Summary

Healthy Communities grants provide funding and support to nonprofit organizations, collaboratives or networks addressing regional health needs, social drivers of health (SDPH) and systems change efforts for Inland Empire community residents who are experiencing the poorest health outcomes in low income communities, rural or remote areas and/or communities with a Healthy Places Index (HPI) score lower than 25. The grant focuses on supporting projects and activities that improve the organization or network’s capacity to effectively advocate for better health policies, strengthen regional workforce development efforts (especially in health, social services and for the purposes of Medi-Cal retention) and focus on improving population health outcomes that can be sustained beyond the one-year lifecycle of the grant.

Healthy Communities grants are awarded twice a year and have a one-year grant lifecycle. Awards will range from $20,000 - $75,000, although exceptions may apply. Organizations may only apply once per calendar year and must address at least one of the IEHPF’s priority Vital Conditions.

Healthy Organizations Grant Summary

The Healthy Organizations grants provides funding and support to nonprofit organizations addressing the social drivers of health (SDOH) for Inland Empire community residents who are experiencing the poorest health outcomes in low-income communities, rural or remote areas and/or communities with a Healthy Places Index (HPI) score lower than 25. These investments focus on supporting projects and activities that improve the nonprofit’s internal capacity to work effectively and develop strong programs, finances, leadership and infrastructure that will be sustained beyond the one-year lifecycle of the grant.

Healthy Organizations grants are awarded twice a year and have a one-year grant lifecycle. Awards will range from $5,000 - $20,000, although exceptions may apply. Organizations may only apply once per calendar year and must address at least one of the IEHPF’s priority Vital Conditions.

To apply, organizations will complete a brief Eligibility Quiz to determine eligibility and submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) with a brief description of the project or activity they hope to fund with the Healthy Organizations grant. IEHPF staff members will then will review the LOI and determine if the organization will be invited to the full application on a rolling basis, but by the invitation deadline below.

Please note that organizations are encouraged to submit their LOIs early to allow for greater time to complete an application, if invited. However, as long as an organization submits an LOI by the deadline, their project will be considered for funding.

The Varghese Summersett Autism Scholarship aims to support children diagnosed with autism who require financial assistance for educational or recreational opportunities. Offered by Varghese Summersett, this scholarship reflects the commitment to enhancing the quality of life for autistic children. It can be utilized for camps, tutoring, or educational tools to help them thrive. This initiative is particularly meaningful, as several members of the legal team have personal connections to autism, underscoring their dedication to this cause.

The Dr. and Mrs. W.C. Culp Student Research Grant supports medical students conducting summer research projects in interventional radiology. With funding of up to $6,000, the grant aims to inspire innovative research ideas and foster advancements in patient care. Eligible applicants include undergraduates and medical students in MD, DO, or PhD programs, including DACA recipients. A designated project advisor is required to guide the student throughout the research process.

The CAPTRUST Scholarship offers five $2,000 awards to undergraduate students with a GPA of 3.7 or higher, supporting their educational journey. Applications are open for the Spring 2025 semester, and only the first 2,500 eligible submissions will be considered. To apply, students must submit essays for four specified categories, each not exceeding 200 words, totaling a maximum of 800 words. This initiative reinforces CAPTRUST's commitment to empowering future professionals.

The Next Generation Undergraduate Scholarship, established by the Architects Foundation, aims to support diverse students pursuing architecture degrees. With a total award of up to $20,000, the scholarship is available to US citizens or permanent residents who are seniors in high school or second-year college students enrolled in NAAB-accredited programs. This initiative reflects a commitment to fostering inclusivity and excellence in the architectural profession, empowering future leaders to shape the built environment.

The AOA/AOSA Opportunities in Optometry Grant program aims to promote inclusion within the optometric profession. This program offers $1,500 grants to under-represented minority students who are applying to optometry school. Eligible candidates include U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or DACA recipients who meet specific academic criteria. The initiative seeks to enhance diversity in the field and expand access to primary eye care, supporting the next generation of optometrists.

The California State University Fullerton Black Student Scholarship Fund, established by the Orange County Community Foundation, aims to support Black high school seniors and college undergraduates planning to enroll full-time at Cal State Fullerton. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.8. The Carter Creech Scholarship offers financial support up to $8,000 for graduating seniors of Troy Buchanan High School in Missouri who aim to pursue a four-year degree. Eligible candidates must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA, achieve an ACT score of 27 or higher, and rank in the top 10% of their class. This scholarship encourages academic excellence and allows recipients to reapply annually for up to $32,000 over four years, fostering educational opportunities in the community.

The AAUW Branch and State Affiliate Community Action Grants aim to empower AAUW branches and state organizations by providing up to $10,000 for innovative STEM programming targeted at girls in grades K-12. The Lovisa Card Catlin Art Scholarship, administered by the Erie Community Foundation, supports graduating seniors from Erie County high schools pursuing further education in art, architecture, or industrial art. In 2023, over $800,000 was awarded to more than 500 students for post-secondary education. Applicants must submit up to six examples of their artwork in JPEG format along with a completed application. This scholarship fosters artistic talent and encourages educational advancement in creative fields.

The NLN Edmund J. Y. Pajarillo Health Informatics and Innovation Scholarship offers up to $5,000 annually to support graduate students in health informatics. This scholarship focuses on advancing nursing education through innovative data analysis and technology. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in accredited programs and have completed at least one year of study. The Pillars Artist Fellowship, launched in 2021 by Pillars Fund in collaboration with Riz Ahmed’s Left Handed Films, aims to empower emerging screenwriters and directors from Muslim communities. With a focus on authentic storytelling, the fellowship provides recipients with a $40,000 unrestricted award, mentorship, professional workshops, and industry connections. This initiative seeks to enhance representation in film and television, fostering narratives that challenge stereotypes and reflect the rich experiences of these artists.

The Aaron Rodgers NorCal Fire Recovery Grant Program aims to enhance health and wellness initiatives for youth in Butte County, particularly those affected by the Camp Fire. The Degree Pathway Scholarships, offered by the Nevada Women’s Fund, empower women in northern Nevada by supporting their pursuit of academic degrees such as associate's, bachelor's, master's, and doctorate programs. These scholarships aim to strengthen communities and promote self-sufficiency through education. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in accredited institutions and meet specific eligibility criteria, including a minimum GPA of 3.0.
