Surplus Food Donation Equipment Grants

SFDE Grant supports Alameda County non-profit organizations that recover, transport, store, and distribute surplus edible food to community members. The program prioritizes investments that strengthen edible food recovery infrastructure and improve the safe, efficient, and dignified distribution of recovered edible food. 

SFDE grant funding is intended to support equipment with a demonstrated connection to edible food recovery activities. It is not intended to support general nonprofit operations or facility improvements. Reusable Foodware Grants

StopWaste offers grants to help replace single-use disposable foodware with reusable systems in closed-environment dining facilities. Controlled settings with high meal volumes are ideal for reusable alternatives — items are used on-site, collected, washed, and returned for reuse.

Up to $50,000 for schools, colleges, institutions, and large venues to replace single-use items with durable, reusable foodware and dishwashing systems.

The Callison Foundation Grant supports small organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area focused on educational success for marginalized children, youth at-risk, and vulnerable adults. Grants of up to $25,000 are awarded in three areas: education, children and youth services, and adult and senior services. Organizations can receive funding for five years within an eight-year period, with a preference for those with unique offerings and limited government funding.

Program Requirements

The purpose of this grant is to assist the grantee's implementation of the PLTW Computer Science program. Grantee must offer at least one PLTW Computer Science course in the 2027-2028 academic year and must offer one additional course in the 2028-2029 academic year (two different courses in two years). Grantee may implement any PLTW Computer Science courses of their choosing. Grantee must complete two years of grant reporting.

Tim Griffith Foundation 

Misson: The Tim Griffith Foundation helps to strengthen our communities by providing support to those often overlooked in our society. Specifically, we strive to help those affected by addiction, loss, or without access to educational opportunities.

Grants

We provide a limited number of grants to nonprofits serving the San Francisco Bay Area in our focus areas of addiction recovery, violence prevention and grief support. 

• Grants are for one year; no multi-year commitments.
• Organizations that receive funding must provide a final report prior to applying for additional funding for a subsequent year.
• We require a follow-up report from the organization within 60 days from the end of the funded program to help us gauge the impact of our grant funding. 

The Permanente Medical Group's Delivery Science Fellowship Program provides a unique opportunity for health professionals and PhD researchers to engage in impactful delivery science research. Funds are available to nonprofit organizations that facilitate the recovery and re-distribution of surplus edible food from business donors or other food recovery partners. 

The program prioritizes the funding of organizations that work to prevent the wasting of nutritious, culturally appropriate food, and ensure equitable, dignified distribution to underserved communities.  

The Arts Performance and Exhibition Spaces (APEX) Grant supports arts and culture nonprofits in the Bay Area, offering flexible funding for operations and artist compensation. Grants range from $10,000 to $15,000, aimed at organizations with budgets between $500,000 and $2 million. The program prioritizes diverse artistic expressions and supports historically marginalized groups. Applications are due annually by January 15, with letters of inquiry due by December 1, promoting the production of new works by local artists.

The foundation serves the communities surrounding our Oakland, California, headquarters as well as those surrounding our remote offices and manufacturing facilities. We also support public health on a global level, through American Red Cross and other partners, donating cash and disinfecting products to address pandemics such as COVID-19 and Ebola as well as supporting a program to provide safe drinking water in Peru and Africa. 

The T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship in Mental Health Services Research is a two-year program supported by the National Institute of Mental Health. It trains emerging researchers in health systems research focusing on mental health and suicide prevention. The fellowship emphasizes mentorship, research methods, and professional development, preparing fellows to secure independent funding.
