Grants provide funds to cover the cost of a bus or other transportation so that teachers can take their students on educational field trips to local natural areas.

Ed and Joan Nilsen established this leadership fund in December of 1994. Ed Nilsen served as a member of the Board of Directors from the time Humboldt Area Foundation was founded in 1972 until 2001.
