Community Impact Grants

Community Impact Grants provide support to nonprofits working to address the needs of under-resourced individuals, families, and communities in our regional footprint.

Our Community Impact Grant opportunity is focused serving children, families, and communities most impacted by poverty. In 2026, there will be one cycle to apply. Eligible nonprofits in our region may apply for unrestricted funding. If you have received funding through the Summer Initiatives grant, you still may apply for Community Impact Grants. If you have received a 2025 multi-year award, you will not be eligible to apply in 2026.

Funding considerations will prioritize requests that address under-resourced populations in our region such as children and adolescents, low-income seniors, returning citizens, immigrants, victims of domestic abuse, and others.

The Comer Education Grant, established by the Comer Foundation in 1946, has allocated over $34.6 million to support educational initiatives in Alabama. The Hulston Family Foundation Grant supports initiatives aimed at enhancing health, education, and welfare for children and families, while addressing hunger and homelessness. The foundation prioritizes funding for organizations based in West Central and Southwest Missouri, with a focus on effective management and measurable community impact. Grants are capped at $25,000 and typically not extended beyond two consecutive years, ensuring a sustainable approach to funding community-based projects.

The Elkins Grant, offered by The Elkins Foundation, aims to enhance the quality of life in Houston and the Greater Gulf Coast through support for diverse educational, healthcare, cultural, community, and religious organizations. Applications are accepted from January to June, with funding decisions made by October 31. The foundation prioritizes specific capital projects and does not typically fund the same organizations annually, ensuring a broad impact across the region.

The Skillman Foundation's President's Discretionary Fund offers annual grants between $2,500 and $10,000 to 501(c)(3) nonprofits serving Detroit youth. This $1M fund supports innovative, one-time projects or pilot programs that enhance education, health, and community services, while also addressing systemic issues. The Education Minnesota Foundation's Professional Development Grant supports licensed educators, education support professionals, and higher education faculty in enhancing their skills in equity and inclusion practices. Applicants must be active, dues-paying members of Education Minnesota, and the program emphasizes sharing new skills with colleagues.

The Eichacker + Lofton Grant Fund, established by the Keokuk Area Community Foundation, aims to enhance the quality of life in the Tri-State Area, covering Hancock County, Illinois, Clark County, Missouri, and Lee County, Iowa. This fund supports nonprofit organizations focusing on arts, culture, education, health, and community betterment. Grants up to $5,000 are available to initiate projects that address local needs, promote collaboration, and foster leadership and self-sufficiency within the community.

Logix Federal Credit Union is dedicated to fostering community through sponsorships and support for local organizations. Organizations seeking sponsorship must meet specific eligibility criteria and submit requests at least 90 days before their events, ensuring a thorough review process.

The Horizon Bank Community Grant Program aims to enhance local communities by funding initiatives in education, arts, and economic development. With grants starting at $5,000, the program supports 501(c)(3) organizations addressing housing needs for low- to moderate-income families.
