Atlantis Scholarship for Excellence

Award:

• 4-year award of $5,000 per year. Recipients will be reviewed annually and must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

The Spay/Neuter Grants program, funded by Washington State's SPAY ~ NEUTER ~ ADOPT license plates, aims to combat pet overpopulation. Since 2007, it has awarded over $615,000 to animal welfare organizations, facilitating nearly 20,500 spay and neuter surgeries for pets in need. The Dr. David R. Barkmeier Top Research Universities Scholarship, offered by the Marshall County Community Foundation, provides funding for students attending prestigious universities, including those in the Association of American Universities. This scholarship supports graduates from Marshall County high schools who can demonstrate residency and is renewable for previous recipients who meet eligibility criteria. It aims to foster academic excellence and assist local students in achieving higher education.

The Madison County Rural Poverty Fund, managed by the Central New York Community Foundation, aims to address poverty in Madison County, where 10% of residents lived below the federal poverty line in 2018. This fund supports 501(c)(3) nonprofits and organizations serving local communities through capital and program grants, promoting innovative solutions to enhance the quality of life and tackle critical issues related to poverty.

LeRoy T. Walker

LeRoy T. Walker (June 14, 1918 – April 23, 2012) was an icon. A noted author, professor, coach, and administrator in the disciplines of physical education and athletics, he was a barrier-breaking and remarkable human being who was dedicated to promoting and uplifting young people.

Walker was Chancellor Emeritus of North Carolina Central University (NCCU) in Durham, NC. He was elected President of the Athletics Congress (now USA Track & Field), the national governing body of USA Track & Field. Walker was elected President Emeritus of the United States' Olympic Committee (the first and only American to hold this position) and was a former president of AAHPERD (from 1977-1978, also the first African American to be elected to this position). Walker was inducted as a member into 17 Halls of Fame, awarded 16 Honorary Doctorates from a variety of institutions, and received numerous awards, including the Luther H. Gulick Award (1982), SHAPE America's highest honor.

The LeRoy T. Walker Young Professional Award

The LeRoy T. Walker Young Professional Award is given to a minority member of SHAPE America who is 36 years old or younger who has demonstrated superior promise in the areas of service, teaching, scholarship and commitment to the goals of SHAPE America focusing specifically on under-represented and/or underserved populations and promotion of diversity and inclusiveness. Not more than one LeRoy Walker Young Professional award shall be given annually.

Legal Counsel in Administration of Blue Buffers Program

Enterprise Community Partners, Inc. ("Enterprise") was selected as a subrecipient of New York State Housing and Community Renewal to administer the Blue Buffers Program pursuant to a subaward. To fulfill its obligations, Enterprise formed a special purpose entity, Enterprise Assisted Properties, LLC (“EAP”).

Enterprise Assisted Properties ("EAP") has initiated a Request for Proposal (“RFP”) process to identify a legal representation panel which will be able to represent EAP in carrying out the New York State Blue Buffers Voluntary Risk Property Buyout Program.

The Meinders Retail Florist Education Grant Fund, established in September 2021 by Herman and LaDonna Meinders, aims to support the floral industry by providing grants for reduced or free registration fees to industry events. With an initial contribution exceeding $500,000, the fund promotes educational initiatives that attract young talent and address industry challenges. Managed by the AFE Education Committee, it is expected to distribute over $10,000 in its first year, ensuring sustainable support for vital educational programs.

The Communities Outreach Programme by the Islamic Development Bank aims to enhance the socio-economic development of Muslim minority communities in non-member countries. Established in 1981, it focuses on education, health, and capacity building to empower these communities. The programme supports initiatives that foster entrepreneurship, women's empowerment, and youth development, ensuring inclusive growth. By addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, it strives to improve living conditions and promote productivity, ultimately contributing to sustainable development in diverse regions.

The AKC Rescue Grant, offered by the AKC Humane Fund, provides essential financial support to nonprofit organizations focused on canine rescue and welfare. Grants cover significant expenses such as veterinary care, spaying, and essential supplies. Eligible applicants include AKC Parent Clubs and 501(c)(3) organizations dedicated to dog rescue. This grant aims to facilitate specific projects and operational needs while ensuring compliance with reporting requirements for awarded funds.

The School Breakfast Collaboration Grant, offered by Project Bread, aims to assist Massachusetts schools in developing and expanding breakfast programs to combat hunger. This funding supports schools in implementing alternative breakfast models, such as Breakfast in the Classroom and Second Chance Breakfast, while also enhancing menu options and accessibility. By collaborating closely with Project Bread's Child Nutrition staff, schools can effectively address challenges and improve their breakfast offerings, ensuring that no child goes hungry.

The Breakfast After the Bell Implementation Grant by Project Bread aims to enhance breakfast accessibility in Massachusetts schools. This funding opportunity supports schools in launching or expanding alternative breakfast models, such as Breakfast in the Classroom and Grab & Go Breakfast. Schools applying should have a well-developed plan and be prepared to implement new strategies to ensure all students can access nutritious meals, thereby fostering better health and academic performance.

The Floyd Hooker Foundation Mini-Grant offers funding up to $25,000 to support projects that benefit the children of Tioga County. Established by Floyd "Vic" Hooker's testamentary trust, this grant prioritizes initiatives addressing unmet needs in the community. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and governmental entities. However, organizations receiving grants for two consecutive years for similar projects may not apply in the third year. Applications are accepted twice a year.

The Floyd Hooker Foundation (FHF) offers Special Project Grants exceeding $25,000 for capital, equipment, or unique projects benefiting the children of Tioga County. Applicants must demonstrate a specific unmet need and provide detailed funding sources. FHF prioritizes early involvement to ensure project success, emphasizing collaboration with qualified organizations, including nonprofits and educational institutions, to address community needs effectively.

The FHF Emergency Grant, offered by the Floyd Hooker Foundation, supports tax-exempt organizations in Tioga County facing urgent needs due to unforeseen events. This grant aims to address immediate financial challenges while prioritizing projects that benefit local children. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, government entities, and educational institutions. Successful applications must demonstrate that the crisis was beyond their control and that funding is critical for the well-being of the community's children.

One AWWA Operator Scholarship

AWWA’s The Water Equation Campaign and the Minnesota Section of AWWA awards the One AWWA Operator Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 for water operator training and education. Up to two (2) scholarships will be awarded each calendar year.

Disbursement of the funds will be made directly by the Section to the financial office of recipient’s college, university, or technical school. Items related to books, manuals, conferences, professional development courses, and other eligible expenses will be reimbursed to recipient upon presentation of eligible receipts. Acceptance of scholarship constitutes permission to use recipient’s name and scholarship story for purpose of promotion.
