Syringe Service Program Supply Hub NOFO

This funding will support a single grantee in operating and maintaining a Syringe Service Program (SSP) Supply Hub. The grantee will create a catalog of IDPH-approved supplies informed by a statewide needs assessment and the laws governing this work, set up a secure website for IDPH-authorized SSPs in Illinois to request SSP supplies, and establish distribution and monitoring infrastructure to deliver supplies to IDPH-authorized SSPs.

This project is funded by the Illinois General Revenue Funds.

The Syringe Service Program (SSP) Supply Hub is a two-year grant cycle, competitively awarded in year one (1) with the option of one (1) year of non-competitive renewal applications. Total base award is $1,500,000 for the chosen grantee, with the remainder of the total grant distributed to the chosen grantee upon the beginning of the second grant year. The Byon M. Morris Scholarship will provide $4,800 ($1,200 per year for 4 years) to support tuition, books, fees, room & board, and degree-related expenses for one graduating senior who has attained Scouting’s highest ranks. One Eagle Scout (Boy Scouts) or one Gold Award winner (Girl Scouts), who demonstrates an aptitude and desire to succeed, will receive the scholarship. In selecting the successful candidate, the review committee will consider academic achievements, leadership experience, desire for personal growth and financial need.

The Crime Prevention Foundation Grant supports initiatives aimed at reducing crime in Brown County by funding both existing and new programs. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations with a 501(c)(3) status or governmental bodies. The foundation seeks to enhance public safety by addressing the elements of desire, ability, and opportunity for crime. However, it does not fund religious activities, individuals, or projects outside of Brown County.

The R. Bruce & Alyce S. Kopseker Trust supports initiatives that assist individuals over 60 in Door County, helping them remain healthy and independent at home. Grants are available for program support, equipment, capacity building, and operational needs. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits and governmental bodies that do not discriminate based on race, gender, or other factors. Certain activities, such as fundraising and religious programs, are excluded from funding.

This scholarship was established at the Northern New York Community Foundation in memory of local businessman Timothy F. Wright.

Seniors at Carthage High School, Copenhagen Central School and Lowville Academy and Central School who will be attending Jefferson Community College majoring in business or a technology program are eligible to apply.

Brittany Walroth Memorial Scholarship

The person, for whom the scholarship is named, Brittany Marie Walrath, was a 2004 graduate of General Brown High School. She was a cheerleader for the GB Lions since fifth grade with the Pop Warner. Her squad took the Championship trophy in 2003. She was an energetic, loving, hardworking young lady who was tragically killed in a car accident in July of 2010. Brittany was a wonderful daughter, friend, wife and aunt and cared a great deal about people. These traits lead her into a job of helping with children.

Brittany worked for the YMCA in the SACC program starting in her junior year until she was called to work at Fort Drum's Child Development Center in 2006. Brittany was a positive role model and spoke of helping children with learning disabilities, like herself. Through Brittany's education, supportive services were essential to allowing her to reach her to reach her academic potential. Therefore, we know she would be honored for this scholarship to be given in memory of her. We would like to encourage an energetic individual who cares to follow their dreams.

This scholarship fund has been instituted in her memory. Money raised from donations and events has been deposited in an interest bearing account.

This scholarship will be awarded annually. The annual award for the Brittany Marie Walrath Memorial Scholarship Fund will be $500.
