Award Overview

The National Geographic Society (NGS) is pleased to announce a Request for Proposals (RFP) for academic researchers and graduate students investigating topics related to geography education in select states and locations. Awards of up to $10,000 (for researchers) and $5,000 (for graduate students) are available to support research projects.

At NGS we spark curiosity, empower exploration, and inspire change. We fund inspiring changemakers around the world who use the power of science, exploration, education and storytelling to illuminate and protect the wonder of our world. 

We welcome submissions from researchers across disciplines but successful proposals must include research related to educational approaches or processes including but not limited to specific learning activities, learning outcomes, or educational tools that advance knowledge. Research that illuminates barriers and/or advances access for those farthest from opportunity is encouraged. 

Research proposals should generate new knowledge, and can either be new or scaled up versions of existing successful projects (e.g. evaluating a different group of learners or geographic area). 

The Kirkpatrick Family Fund offers large grants over $15,000 to nonprofit organizations in central Oklahoma and the Pikes Peak region. It focuses on projects that enhance arts, education, health, and community well-being. Applicants must demonstrate measurable outcomes and align with the foundation's mission. Prioritization is given to organizations with a broad community impact and innovative programming. Note that requests for ongoing support or capital projects are not eligible. A Letter of Intent is required one month prior to the application deadline.

The Community Stewardship Fund Grant, provided by the Community Foundation of Kankakee River Valley, aims to enhance the quality of life in Kankakee and Iroquois Counties by awarding $6,500 to nonprofit organizations. This fund seeks to address evolving community needs by funding impactful projects that are actionable and clearly communicated. Eligible organizations must hold 501(c)(3) status and operate within the Greater Kankakee River Valley area, prioritizing categories such as education, health, and community services.

The South32 Hermosa Community Fund Grant supports nonprofit organizations in Santa Cruz County, Arizona, focusing on education, economic participation, health, and natural resource resilience. Grants of up to $80,000 are available each cycle, with requests up to $10,000 considered. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations in good standing and demonstrate local leadership. The fund prioritizes collaborative projects that enhance community skills and capacities, ensuring equal opportunities for all, while maintaining a commitment to diversity.

The Robert E & Evelyn McKee Foundation Grant focuses on charitable purposes, primarily supporting organizations that qualify under 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. It awards funds in various areas including civic, cultural, education, healthcare, and youth activities. Eligible recipients are local charities and certain selected colleges for scholarships. However, the foundation does not fund other foundations, organizations outside the U.S., or individual financial aid. Awards are guided by IRS minimum requirements.

The Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust offers small grants for charitable work in Sussex, focusing on areas such as wildlife conservation, youth enterprise, and care for the elderly. Applications are accepted year-round from registered charities that align with the Trust's mission. Funding is available for start-up costs, core costs, and specific projects, emphasizing support for local initiatives. The Trust aims to enhance community welfare while promoting environmental conservation in its home county.

The ECRAC Resiliency Grant for Arts Organizations provides funding of up to $600 for artists and organizations to support their projects affected by the pandemic and racial disparities. This grant is available until June 30, 2026, or until funds are depleted, and is open to past, current, or new grantees. Eligible projects can include various art forms such as performance, dance, photography, and more, as long as they comply with public health guidelines.

The Impact100 Gulf Coast Grant empowers women to make a significant difference in their community by awarding large grants to qualifying organizations. Focus areas include arts, environment, health, education, and family initiatives that enhance lives in the Panhandle. Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt charities operating in specific Florida counties and adhere to grant guidelines. Funds must be fully expended within 24 months to ensure impactful community transformation.

The Hilles Fund Grant supports programs that serve vulnerable populations in Philadelphia and Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. With grants ranging from $4,000 to $10,000, it prioritizes initiatives that provide children, youth, and women with pathways to economic independence, including educational opportunities and social services. The fund also values advocacy efforts aligned with its mission and gives preference to organizations with operating budgets under $2 million.

The Impact 100 Indian River Grant supports nonprofit organizations in Indian River County by pooling individual donations to award substantial grants of $100,000. This initiative aims to enhance community welfare through projects in various focus areas, including arts, education, health, and the environment. Eligible organizations must be recognized as tax-exempt and based in Indian River County, ensuring that funds directly benefit local residents. The grant fosters innovation and collaboration among nonprofits to achieve impactful community results.

Con Edison is committed to fostering a clean and equitable energy future by supporting community-based organizations in New York City and Westchester. Focus areas include climate change adaptation, social justice initiatives, and clean energy careers. The funding prioritizes programs that serve historically marginalized communities, promote environmental stewardship, and enhance economic opportunities. Through these efforts, Con Edison aims to empower local organizations to address systemic inequities and build resilience against climate challenges.

The Kelly Foundation Grants for Health and Human Services aims to enhance the well-being of the Greater Sacramento area by supporting projects that promote health, education, and community prosperity. With a focus on mental health and substance abuse services, the foundation encourages organizations to apply for grants ranging from $10,000, ensuring that initiatives prioritize community needs and sustainability. The foundation's commitment to local empowerment fosters a collaborative environment for growth and support.

The NAILBA Charitable Foundation Grant aims to support small, well-managed U.S. charities that assist those in need, particularly children. Grants are available to organizations with backing from a NAILBA member and that meet specific criteria, such as nonsectarian operation and appropriate fiscal accountability. Since its inception in 2002, the foundation has invested in community transformation by funding initiatives that directly engage in beneficial services, thereby enhancing the welfare of underprivileged groups.

The Liberty Mutual Foundation, through the Safeco Insurance Fund, offers discretionary grants to support nonprofits in Washington State. Established in 2006, the fund focuses on empowering vulnerable communities by funding initiatives in education, youth workforce development, housing stability, and climate resiliency. Grants are available for both single and multi-year programs, with a continuous review process. Organizations must be located in Washington and adhere to eligibility criteria, including not having applied within the last 12 months.

The Couch Family Foundation supports nonprofits in the Upper Valley and Martha's Vineyard, focusing on enhancing child and family well-being through equitable opportunities. The foundation prioritizes organizations that demonstrate strong leadership, community impact, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Grants are available for various needs, including general operating, project funding, and capital support, with an emphasis on collaborative community change.

The Learning Innovation: ITN 2026-01 Innovation Fund, offered by The Children's Trust, provides up to $1,000,000 to support innovative projects that address community needs in Miami-Dade County. Eligible applicants include governmental, for-profit, and non-profit organizations. Projects should enhance conditions for families and children, or improve service coordination. Individual awards are capped at $100,000, ensuring a broad impact across diverse initiatives.

Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) is a self-supporting, nonprofit, public corporation that serves as the primary administrator of federal housing programs for the state of Kansas. KHRC delivers solutions to those who are working to end the housing crisis in Kansas. The corporation’s vision can only be achieved when all Kansans have the support and resources they need to achieve their goals, no matter where they are in their housing journey.

CSBG Discretionary Grant

Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) establishes guidelines for the awarding of discretionary grants as authorized by the Kansas Community Services Block Grant (CSBG). The primary intended use of the grant funds awarded to Kansas and to subgrantees is “to provide assistance to local communities in Kansas, working through a network of Community Action Agencies and other neighborhood-based organizations, for the reduction of poverty, the revitalization of low-income communities, and the empowerment of low-income families and individuals in rural and urban areas to become fully self-sufficient.”

CSBG Purpose and Goals

• Promoting maximum participation of people and communities with low-income
• Leveraging resources of other anti-poverty programs
• Strengthening community capabilities for planning or coordinating resources for local needs and conditions of poverty
• Using innovative approaches to address causes and conditions of poverty
• Measuring impact to ensure accountability and ongoing data-driven quality improvement 

As outlined with the FFY 2025-2026 CSBG State Plan, this RFP seeks proposals for: 1) Innovative Programs/Activities or 2) Training/Technical Assistance

Applicants are advised that direct services funded by CSBG are restricted to Kansas residents. with household incomes that fall at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines

Innovative Projects

For the purposes of this funding opportunity, proposals will be considered “innovative” if they:

• Support a project that is new to the agency and/or
• Support a modification to an existing project to make it more effective or efficient and/or
• Address an unmet need of the agency or community and/or
• Support a collaboration that addresses poverty in their communities.

Applicants should describe how the proposed project is an effective approach to ameliorate the causes and effects of poverty. Project descriptions should include the applicant’s plan to sustain the proposed project. CSBG programs often include addressing employment, education, income management, housing, nutrition, emergency services and/or health to combat the central causes of poverty.

The Community Foundation of Central Missouri (CFCM) offers the Impact Grant, a $5,000 funding opportunity designed to significantly address critical issues in mid-Missouri. This grant focuses on human capacity development for disadvantaged individuals or arts initiatives. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations based in central Missouri and operational for at least five years. Projects may target equal opportunity, education, and senior services, among others, adapting to community needs over time.

The Social Justice Fund offers General Support Grants to enhance the capacity of organizations focused on advocacy, mobilization, and healing within underserved communities in Pittsburgh. These grants provide essential operating support, fostering long-term planning and development. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits or fiscally sponsored collectives that benefit Allegheny County residents and address social justice issues. Preference is given to projects led by impacted communities, emphasizing equitable representation and addressing historical injustices.

The Jamie Parsley Family Foundation Grant offers funding for a wide range of educational initiatives, including arts, sciences, and athletics. It specifically targets at-risk children and those with special needs, as well as supporting communities affected by alcohol abuse. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations located in Jefferson County, KY, and nearby areas, ensuring a focused impact on local youth and educational development.

The Price Foundation Grant Program aims to enhance education, health, and historic preservation in Clark and Cowlitz Counties, Washington. The foundation supports 501(c)(3) organizations by providing need-based scholarships, grants for medical care, and funding for the preservation of historic sites. The mission aligns with the vision of promoting community well-being and valuing historical lessons. By addressing unfulfilled needs, the foundation plays a pivotal role in improving the quality of life in the region.

The NYSCA Support for Artists Grant offers vital funding to artists in New York State, promoting the development of new work across various artistic disciplines. This grant is designed to enhance diverse artistic voices, encourage significant growth in individual artists, and strengthen collaborations with sponsoring organizations. Prequalification is mandatory for nonprofit applicants, ensuring a streamlined process for those seeking to elevate their creative endeavors. Artists are invited to apply through sponsoring organizations to receive support for their innovative projects.

The Stringfellow Health Fund Grant provides essential healthcare funding to 501(c)(3) public charities in nine Alabama counties. Focus areas include addressing preventable health issues, advocacy, and serving individuals with chronic conditions. Eligible organizations must demonstrate a minimum one-year operating history and adhere to specific strategic planning requirements. Grants aim to enhance community health and well-being, fostering a healthier future for residents in the designated service area.

The AHRQ Health Services Research Demonstration and Dissemination Grants (R18) aim to support innovative health services research that addresses priorities in quality, safety, and effective healthcare delivery. These grants encourage collaboration among various stakeholders, including patients and policymakers, to enhance healthcare practices across diverse settings. Applications are due by 5:00 PM local time of the applicant organization. This initiative fosters improvements in healthcare outcomes and delivery systems.

CDBG Urgent Need Fund

CDBG Urgent Need Fund Grants enable the prompt response to existing serious and immediate threats to local health and safety. The applicant locality must be unable to finance the project on its own, no other funding is available to address the problem and the CDBG funding will be directly targeted towards alleviation of the threatening conditions. CDBG assistance will generally only be made available to projects, which consist only of activities in support of long-term recovery and primarily benefit low- and moderate-income persons. 

The Indiana Climate and Democracy Catalyst Fund aims to empower frontline organizations in Indiana by enhancing their capacity to address climate and democracy challenges. Supported by local, state, and national funders, the initiative focuses on community-driven outcomes and storytelling to inspire further funding. This strategic collaboration seeks to uplift BIPOC-led, LGBTQ+ serving, and rural organizations, fostering an inclusive environment for all Indiana residents to thrive while advocating for environmental justice.

The Honolulu Grants-In-Aid program aims to support services for economically and socially disadvantaged populations, focusing on public benefits in arts, culture, economic development, and the environment. Grants are available in two tiers, with amounts ranging from $5,000 to $150,000. The funds will be allocated to projects that enhance community well-being, promote cultural awareness, and support vulnerable groups, such as seniors and victims of domestic violence, thereby fostering sustainable improvements in quality of life.
