The Society is under the supervision of the 12-member State Historical Board. The board appoints the Director of the State Historical Society of North Dakota to administer the agency and carry out policies and directives.

Historic Preservation Fund Grants

The State Historic Preservation Office of North Dakota receives federal funds annually from the Historic Preservation Fund to assist in the identification, evaluation, and preservation of cultural resources listed in the National Register of Historic Places (NPS).

As part of the annual appropriation, the Society is obligating $150,000 toward preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of projects for the National Register listed properties.

The Aloha Prince Hall Hawaii Foundation Fund offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Hawaii who demonstrate financial need and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.7. The fund prioritizes students enrolling full-time in accredited four-year institutions and considers community service and extracurricular activities. Preference is given to previous recipients who continue to meet eligibility criteria. Philip A. Spade and Ruth M. Spade Scholarship

Provides scholarships which benefit students educated in the Gwinn Public School System from elementary school through graduation, with particular emphasis on attendance at George D. Gilbert Elementary School. 

Distribution Process

• CFMC scholarship recipients will be contacted in June requesting student enrollment verification
• Scholarships can only be distributed once student’s information is received
• Scholarships will be distributed to the college/school/university indicated by student
• The scholarship must be used for tuition and fees required for the enrollment or attendance of the student at a qualifying educational institution; fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses of instruction at such an educational institution; and room and board, within the first semester of first year of students enrollment
• That year’s recipient must claim the scholarship within that fiscal year to be distributed (by 12/31/xx)

Friedman Family Scholarship

The Friedman Family Scholarship was established in 1998. The award is available to graduating seniors in Taos and western Colfax counties for students pursuing advancement of higher education. The scholarship is available to those applying to 4 year colleges and universities as well as 2 year vocational/trade schools. The award is up to $ 8,000.00 paid out at $2,000 annually for up to four years if a 3.0 GPA is maintained.

The Financial Women International Scholarship, established in 1992 by the Hawaii chapter of Financial Women International, supports women pursuing higher education in business-related fields. Eligible applicants must be Hawaii residents demonstrating financial need, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, and show strong academic potential. Preference is given to previous recipients who continue to meet the criteria. This scholarship aims to empower women in the financial services sector and promote their academic success.

The Eo Na Punawai Scholarship Fund, established in 2015, aims to support Hawaiian ancestry students pursuing degrees in STEM fields. Eligible applicants must be full-time undergraduate students at a college or university in Hawai‘i, demonstrating financial need with a minimum GPA of 2.5. This fund encourages the growth and education of future leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, fostering a strong community connection to Hawaiian heritage.

Broadband Ready Communities (BBRC) Program

The Broadband Ready Communities (BBRC) Program seeks to increase opportunities for investment in broadband infrastructure deployment within municipalities throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This program will work to reduce procedural, policy, and permitting barriers to broadband deployment at the municipal level and to encourage broadband infrastructure investment within participating communities.

A participating municipality can register for the program on a rolling basis.

The DC Mayor’s Scholars Undergraduate Program provides need-based funding for District of Columbia residents pursuing their first associate or bachelor’s degree at select colleges. As a last-dollar award, it helps cover tuition gaps after other financial aid. Eligible applicants must have been DC residents for at least a year, maintain satisfactory academic progress, and have household incomes below 300% of the federal poverty guidelines. Funding caps are $4,000 annually, with limits on total awards.

The Oregon Port Revolving Fund provides essential loans to port districts for the planning and construction of vital infrastructure and facilities.
