Matching Gifts Program

Full-time associates and recent retirees (up to 5 years after retirement) of Regions and its affiliated companies can request a Regions Matching Gift to eligible organizations. The recipient organization must be a 501(c) or 170(c) organization located in the Regions footprint (except for accredited educational institutions, which may be located anywhere in the United States) and has a primary mission that clearly fits one of these categories:

• Economic and community development: Supporting economic prosperity through affordable housing, job creation, small-business development, homebuyer education and retention, neighborhood revitalization and stabilization, food security/hunger relief.
• Education and workforce readiness: Supporting career prosperity through student competency and skill building, college and career readiness, educational access and success, credential building and employment and educator training and resources.

Regions Matching Gifts for Full-Time Associates

Regions supports organizations important to our associates through the Regions Matching Gifts Program. This program, which is open for use for all full-time Regions associates, affiliate associates and recent retirees, allows you to make an even greater difference to your favorite charities by doubling your tax-deductible contributions to these organizations. 

The CalMoneySmart Grant program, managed by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation, offers annual grants up to $200,000 for nonprofit organizations. Its goal is to provide essential financial education and empowerment services to unbanked and underbanked Californians. Initiated by Senate Bill 455 in 2019, the program has expanded funding to enhance economic security and promote financial stability among vulnerable communities, ultimately fostering wealth-building and financial independence.

The Behavioral Health Scholarship Program, administered by the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI), aims to enhance the pipeline of trained behavioral health professionals. By offering scholarships up to $35,000 for students pursuing degrees in behavioral health, the program addresses the urgent need for direct care providers in underserved communities. Participants must fulfill a 12-month service obligation, ensuring their skills benefit those who need it most. This initiative fosters diversity within the healthcare workforce.

The Beet Curly Top Control Grant Program, established by the California Department of Food and Agriculture, aims to manage the economic impact of beet curly top virus through innovative projects. Funding is available for new management methods targeting the beet leafhopper, the virus's primary vector, with an emphasis on environmentally friendly practices. All proposals must align with the Committee's annual research budget and are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

The Ralph J. Torraco Food Bank/Shelter Fund Grant, offered by the UNICO Foundation Inc., aims to combat hunger and provide shelter for the homeless and indigent. Eligible applicants include registered non-profit food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters in 13 U.S. states. The grant focuses on direct services, ensuring that all funds are used for food and shelter, not for operating expenses, thereby promoting effective community support for vulnerable populations.

Improvements to Modeling Climate Data in Demand Forecasting

To meet California’s energy goals and produce a forecast which accounts for climate change, there is an urgent need to incorporate improved climate data, downscaled projections, and advanced modeling techniques into electricity demand forecasting, system planning tools, and resilience analyses. This solicitation seeks a contractor to provide technical expertise, climate-data processing, and modeling support aligned with ongoing interagency research efforts to continue the work on improving methods for preparing global climate model (GCM) data inputs for use in the CA energy demand forecast. In the 2024 IEPR cycle, CEC staff supported the development of downscaled, bias-corrected projections over California at a 3-kilometer by 3-kilometer spatial resolution and translating the projections into inputs to be used in the forecast to calculate impacts on annual and hourly demand. While the 2023 forecast used hourly output from four Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) models localized to specific weather stations used within the CEC’s forecast models, four additional WRF model runs became available during the 2024 cycle. Staff provided a comparison between the two vintages of model run, and the potential impacts of using the new model results which suggest a significantly warmer climate. These findings result in higher loads if used in the forecast. The 2024 and 2025 IEPR cycles have continued to use the initial WRF run data, but work has continued to understand potential ways to incorporate the new WRF model data. This includes analyzing impacts on peak demand, and average level of heating degree days (HDD) and cooling degree days (CDD) from the initial and new WRF runs.

The Energy Commission seeks a contractor to assist in the following activities:

• Incorporate the improved climate data, downscaled projections, and advanced modeling techniques into electricity and gas demand forecasting and system planning
• Provide technical expertise on climate-data processing and modeling support aligned with interagency research efforts of improving the use of GCM outputs in demand forecasting
• Assess characteristic differences between the available sets of GCM outputs
• Analyze, process, and compare large datasets such as historical weather station data, climate model outputs, and CEC demand model inputs
• Prepare climate-impacted projections of weather-related energy supply and demand model inputs including HDD, CDD, temperature, windspeed, cloud cover, solar irradiance, and water availability.

There is $400,000 available for the contract resulting from this RFP. This is an hourly rate plus cost reimbursement contract and the award will be made to the responsible Bidder receiving the highest points.

The CA Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) Grant Program, managed by the California Department of Toxic Substances Control, offers grants to local governments, tribal entities, and nonprofits for assessing and cleaning up brownfields. Eligible applicants can utilize funds for environmental cleanup activities, including contamination mitigation and engineering controls. This program aims to foster community health and environmental restoration through effective site management and remediation efforts.

The Effectiveness Monitoring Committee (EMC) is inviting project proposals aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of California's Forest Practice Rules and natural resource protections. This initiative targets key issues such as watershed health, wildlife habitat, and wildfire management. Proposals should address specific research themes and critical monitoring questions identified by the EMC, contributing to enhanced scientific understanding and improved forest resilience in California.

The Small and Rural Hospital Relief Grant Program, administered by the California Department of Health Care Access and Information, aims to assist eligible small, rural, and Critical Access hospitals facing financial burdens due to seismic safety retrofit requirements. Funded by a portion of the state's electronic cigarette excise tax, this program prioritizes projects that demonstrate community need and financial viability, ensuring hospitals can remain operational and accessible to underserved populations.

Recipients of the scholarship will receive funding for up to two years while working to complete their certification or degree.

The Charis Fund Grant supports non-profit organizations in California, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada, focusing on social welfare, health, and education. The T2025 Multifamily Finance Super NOFA for Los Angeles allocates approximately $101 million to support multifamily housing and infrastructure projects in areas affected by wildfires in January 2025. The California Department of Housing and Community Development aims to expedite affordable housing solutions for disaster survivors through two application phases, emphasizing immediate construction and readiness. The Senate Bill 1 Sea Level Rise Tribal Cultural Resources Funding Program aims to support California Native American tribes in addressing the challenges posed by sea level rise (SLR). The Pacific Branch John Henry Comstock Award honors an exemplary graduate student in entomology within the Pacific Branch. This award aims to foster enthusiasm for entomology at the graduate level and encourage participation in the Pacific Branch and ESA Annual Meetings. The winner will present at the Pacific Branch Meeting and receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the ESA Annual Meeting, a $100 cash prize, and a certificate, covering airfare, hotel, registration, and per diem.
