Community Development Block Grant Programs

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program enables rural Oklahoma communities to finance a variety of public infrastructure and economic improvements and helps promote job growth as a result of these improvements. CDBG funds are provided by the federal government (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development) and managed by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce to help ensure Oklahoma’s most critical needs are addressed.

CDBG Disaster Recovery Program (CDBG-DR)

The Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Program (CDBG-DR 2023/2024) grants are intended to support communities affected by the DR-4706 and DR-4776 disasters. Eligible counties are Carter, McClain, Murray, and Osage County. 

Introduction

On behalf of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce Community Development Division (ODOC/CD), we appreciate the opportunity to partner with eligible communities and applicants as recovery and rebuilding efforts continue following recent federally declared disasters. The CDBG-DR program is intended to support long-term recovery, infrastructure restoration, housing stabilization, and community resiliency in accordance with federal disaster recovery requirements established by HUD.

The Allied Arts Educational Outreach program supports nonprofit arts organizations that provide arts experiences for underserved youth in Oklahoma. With a focus on K-12 students, this initiative expands outreach to veterans and marginalized communities. Organizations can apply for cash grants up to $5,000, along with Hobby Lobby gift cards, to foster artistic engagement and cultural enrichment. This funding aims to ensure a sustainable cultural landscape in central Oklahoma and promote inclusivity in the arts.

The initiative focuses on empowering girls and people of color, fostering exploration of STEM pathways. Eligible schools can receive grants to start or expand their PLTW Gateway programs, ensuring they offer at least two different units over two years. Funding support includes $20,000 to enhance educational resources and training.

The PLTW Gateway Program Expansion, funded by Phillips 66, aims to enhance educational equity by supporting middle schools in STEM. With a total award of $10,000, the initiative focuses on expanding existing PLTW Gateway programs, particularly for schools serving high-need student populations. This partnership encourages a diverse workforce by providing opportunities for girls and people of color, ensuring they explore various STEM pathways during critical developmental years.

The OKC Living Classroom Grant Program aims to combat the decline of monarch butterflies, which have seen an 80% population drop due to habitat loss. This initiative, led by the Oklahoma City Zoo and partners, provides funding and resources to K-12 schools in the Oklahoma City metro area to create gardens that include essential milkweed and nectar plants. Schools will receive professional development, financial support, and curriculum materials to foster environmental education and conservation efforts.

The Wegener Foundation Grant supports nonprofit organizations in Central Oklahoma that enhance the quality of life through education, health, arts, and community services. Established in 1958, the foundation prioritizes long-term partnerships with organizations demonstrating ongoing community impact. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) public charities. The foundation encourages projects that address the needs of diverse community members to foster sustainable growth and improve living conditions across the Oklahoma City metro area.

The Services for Older Adults Grant Program by the Oklahoma City Community Foundation supports organizations aiding older adults (65+) to live independently at home. It offers general operating support funding for initiatives focused on independent living, wellness services, and social activities. Grants are available to charitable organizations providing direct services to this demographic, ensuring they can maintain their quality of life and community engagement.

Nestlé Purina is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of pets and the communities they serve. Through their event sponsorship program, they support 501(c)(3) tax-exempt pet welfare organizations in the U.S. that focus on the welfare of cats and dogs. Eligible events must be located within 50 miles of their St. Louis headquarters, ensuring that their contributions directly benefit local communities. Purina's commitment to pets and people strengthens the bond between them.

The E.L. and Thelma Gaylord Foundation, established in 1994, supports charitable activities primarily in the greater Oklahoma City area. The foundation emphasizes the arts, education, medical research, and children's issues, continuing the legacy of its founders, Edward and Thelma Gaylord. With a commitment to enhancing community welfare and preserving Oklahoma's heritage, the foundation seeks to empower qualified 501(c)(3) organizations that align with its philanthropic goals.

The PLTW Engineering program, supported by Phillips 66, aims to enhance STEM education in middle and high schools. By providing $30,000 in grants over two academic years, it encourages schools to offer PLTW Engineering courses, fostering skills in students from underserved communities. This initiative is designed to prepare students for future careers in STEM fields, ensuring a diverse and capable workforce. Schools in designated counties are eligible, with a focus on those serving economically disadvantaged students.

The PLTW Computer Science program, funded by Phillips 66, aims to enhance STEM education in middle and high schools. By offering a minimum of two PLTW Computer Science courses over two years, the initiative seeks to empower students with vital skills for future careers. With a total grant of $20,000, the program focuses on schools in various states, prioritizing those serving economically disadvantaged students to foster diversity and inclusion in the tech field.

The PLTW Computer Science - Program Expansion grant from Phillips 66 aims to enhance access to quality education in STEM fields for middle and high school students. This initiative supports schools in expanding their existing PLTW Computer Science programs, particularly in high-need areas starting in the 2026-2027 academic year. Grants of $10,000 are available, prioritizing institutions with significant economic need among students, ensuring future generations are equipped for success in technology and engineering careers.

The PLTW Engineering program, in partnership with Phillips 66, aims to expand access to quality STEM education in underserved communities. With a total grant of $10,000 available for the 2026-2027 academic year, the initiative focuses on middle and high school programs that foster student engagement in engineering and computer science. Priority will be given to schools with high-needs student populations, ensuring equitable educational opportunities and workforce preparedness for future generations.

The SpartanNash Foundation Grant supports nonprofit organizations focused on Hunger, Heroes, and Hope. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations located within a 30-mile radius of SpartanNash facilities. The Foundation ensures that every dollar raised directly benefits partner organizations, with a commitment to community impact. Grants are not available for ineligible entities, including those outside the radius or not aligned with the Foundation's mission. Since its inception in 2015, the Foundation has positively influenced local communities.

The ONEOK Foundation Community Investments Grants support organizations that enhance community well-being through arts, education, health, and environmental initiatives. With a focus on partnerships in the regions where ONEOK operates, the foundation encourages proposals that address specific community needs, particularly those promoting self-sufficiency. Grants up to $5,000 can be submitted any time, while larger requests are reviewed quarterly. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations that directly benefit their local communities.

The Kirkpatrick Foundation Small Grants program supports diverse initiatives in arts, culture, education, animal wellbeing, environmental conservation, and historic preservation, primarily in Central Oklahoma. With no specific deadlines and monthly reviews, the foundation aims to enhance the quality of life through strategic funding. Organizations that qualify as 501(c)(3) nonprofits and serve the local community are encouraged to apply. This program reflects the foundation's commitment to fostering a vibrant and sustainable environment for all citizens.

ConocoPhillips Charitable Investments focus on Water and Biodiversity Stewardship, promoting conservation and restoration of ecosystems. The initiative emphasizes collaboration with communities and organizations to enhance biodiversity, improve water availability, and foster innovative conservation practices. Proposals are evaluated based on their alignment with long-term conservation goals, community engagement, and innovative approaches. Eligible organizations must be recognized as tax-exempt charities or government subdivisions, while ineligible entities include those advancing political causes or engaging in discriminatory practices.

The OGE Energy Corp. Foundation Grant supports 501(c)(3) charities enhancing community well-being through education, health, and arts. With over $3 million invested in 2022, the foundation prioritizes STEM access for underrepresented students and community development. Eligible organizations must be U.S.-based, demonstrate measurable impact, and serve all individuals without discrimination. The foundation does not fund individuals, capital improvements, or political activities, ensuring support aligns with their community-focused mission.

The Canine Cancer Immunotherapy Network (K9CIN) aims to advance canine cancer treatments through innovative clinical trials, paralleling the development of human therapies. This initiative is vital as pet dogs naturally develop cancer, mirroring human responses to treatments. By leveraging NIH support, K9CIN will facilitate research to enhance immunotherapeutic strategies for both dogs and humans, fostering a collaborative environment for veterinary and human medical advancements. Ultimately, this funding opportunity promotes ethical research that benefits both species.

Real World Evidence on clinical outcomes with Aztreonam-Avibactam (ATM-AVI)

This RFP invites research proposals aimed at assessing clinical outcomes associated with the use of Aztreonam-Avibactam (ATM-AVI) in real world clinical settings.

In scope are adult patients with suspected or documented infections due to aerobic gram negative organisms. Eg. CRE-MBL, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, treated with ATM-AVI.

Geographic Scope

Countries where ATM-AVI is available (ex-US) and used in clinical practice at the time of RFP release, including but not limited to parts of EU, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and selected Asia-Pacific markets. Proposals from institutions already participating in Pfizer-sponsored or funded, overlapping ATM-AVI RWE study may be considered out of scope. Proposals involving studies on patients that have received ATM-AVI via pre-approval or pre-launch expanded access routes may be considered out of scope

Project Types and Area of Interest

Potential applicants are requested to submit research proposals to study the below outcomes following treatment with ATM-AVI for adult patients with suspected or documented infections with aerobic gram negative organisms e.g. CRE-MBL, S. maltophilia.

• Clinical effectiveness with ATM-AVI
• Safety outcomes with ATM-AVI
• Microbiological outcomes with ATM-AVI
• Health Economic outcomes with ATM-AVI (in addition to any of the above)

Proposals may include data from special populations such as – immunocompromised (solid organ transplant or haemato-oncological patients)

Funding Range and Project Length

• Individual projects requesting up to $50,000 USD will be considered. The total budget for this RFP is $ 250,000 USD
• Maximum project length is 12 months

Gordon Lymbery Scholarship

Candidates for the Gordon Lymbery, PhD Memorial Scholarship must have graduated from a Northern Nevada high school, or received a GED, and must be seeking an Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.

Candidates for the Gordon Lymbery, PhD Memorial Scholarship must have graduated from a Northern Nevada high school, or received a GED, and must be seeking an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree. Awards for up to $1,000 are available for graduates of any Northern Nevada high school. Please see the Lymbery Certification Scholarship if you are seeking a certificate. This is a one-time award but has the potential to be renewed with reapplication.

Edward Arciniega Scholarship

For graduating seniors from Churchill County High School, Charter School, or from a Churchill County Home-school program, intending to study at a 2-4 year college, having studied a foreign language for at least 4 years. This is a single year award for students who have at least four years of study in a language other than English in grades 6-12, and who have demonstrated an aptitude for language and academic accomplishment. This is a one-time award of up to $1,000.

Cynthia Chapman Memorial Scholarship

Cynthia Chapman was a renowned pianist who was dedicated to the pursuit of science and education. She devoted much of her life developing educational videos for Encyclopedia Britannica. This scholarship is in honor of her exceptional accomplishments and career.

The Cynthia Chapman Memorial Scholarship is designed for students who have a background in music (such as playing an instrument, choir, band, etc.) and who are pursuing a degree in a science related field. This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors from Northern Nevada, with a preference for those from Eureka County. This is a one-time award of up to $2,000.

Austen Marie Path to Music Memorial Scholarship

The Austen Marie Path to Music Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Austen Marie Lynch to help support fellow musicians pursue a career in music, extending to others the opportunity to fulfill her own dream of becoming a career artist. Austen was a hardworking, tenacious, and talented musician. Her dream was to attend college and become a career musician. She was a singer, a songwriter, a guitarist, a poet, an artist, and a lover of ALL music. At 17 years old, Austen passed from a rare and terminal cancer in the comfort of her own bed surrounded by her loved ones, her guitars, and her record collection. 

This scholarship will be awarded to fellow musicians to attend school and fulfill their dream of becoming a career artist. There will be no GPA or academic requirement, but the applicant must show their dedication to music and ability to overcome life's challenges. Eligible applicants will be graduating seniors from a Nevada high school who plan to attend an institute of higher education to pursue a major or minor in music. This is a one-time award of up to $5,000 and has the potential to be renewed for additional years with reapplication.
