Who We Are

The Creag Foundation is a private grant making foundation established in 2009 in Woodinville, Washington.

The founders of the Creag Foundation believe that meaningful change can only be achieved through hard work, creativity and passion. They also understand the practical mechanisms that allow charitable organizations to succeed and grow. As a group, Creag Foundation principals are dedicated to helping today’s most innovative programs improve the human condition in a wide variety of ways.

Our Focus

The broad purpose of the Foundation is to support the efforts of nonprofit organizations who are innovators in the field of human services. Our particular focus is on smaller organizations that are starting out or established organizations that are looking for funding to take their organization in a new direction.

What We Fund

The Creag Foundation is focused on innovation in the industry. We will consider proposals from 501(c)(3) organizations that are finding new ways to address societal issues facing the nonprofit community. Applicants must have held 501(c)(3) status for one year before submitting. If your organization has held 501(c)(3) status for over a year, and your believe that your organization has a new approach to an existing social problem or is addressing a previously unaddressed social issue, you are welcome to contact us and request that we consider your organization for a funding opportunity.

Background

Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation seeks to dramatically improve the lives of underserved communities across the globe by supporting scalable, innovative, and impact-first solutions that leverage existing systems and stakeholders. Our goal is to find social entrepreneurs with dynamic products or services that have a proven ability to positively impact the lives of underserved people, and nurture those organizations at the early stages by providing capacity, capital, and community.

Our application process is designed to be open and accessible, and we accept applications year round from across our priority geographies and sectors. Borrowing from our venture capital legacy, we find exceptional entrepreneurs and provide them with: 

Capacity

• The core of DRK’s model is deep and extensive operational and technical support for each portfolio organization, both through dedicated hands-on Board service and specialist capacity-building resources for fundraising, board and organizational development, leadership, financial support, and scaling strategy,

Capital

• DRK provides up to $300,000 USD in either unrestricted grant funding or investment capital over a three-year period, and

Community

• DRK convenes our portfolio and alumni annually, facilitating connections and community. 

What We Fund

DRK Foundation funds early-stage social impact organizations solving the world’s biggest social and environmental problems using bold, scalable approaches.

What stage of growth does DRK Foundation typically fund?

Early stage: Organizations who are early stage, which we define as post-pilot and pre-scale. This typically means: 

• Your program, product or service is already being used in the market or in the field, 
• You have early indication that your model is having its intended impact on the beneficiary populations,
• Your organization is relatively young (ideally between two and five years old, although we will consider both younger and older organizations).

Venture funding: In the case of for profits, we typically support Seed to Series A organizations, and never lead rounds; we also generally but not exclusively refrain from participating in financings exceeding a $15M USD post-money valuation.  

Background

Our Community Investment Program contributes to nonprofit organizations that operate within the immediate H-E-B service area. Depending on the need we may contribute in-kind product, volunteers, or monetary funding towards activities, projects, and causes that make a visible and possible difference. Our Community Investment Program primarily supports organizations focused on arts and humanities, disaster relief, diversity and inclusion, education and literacy, environmental and sustainability, health and wellness, hunger relief, military and veteran support, and general social services.

H-E-B Tournament of Champions

The H-E-B Tournament of Champions was established in 1986 when DeckerFood Company asked H-E-B Grocery Co. to invite a few of their market vendors to play in a golf tournament and donate the proceeds to Special OlympicsTexas. The President of Decker Foods was the Chairman of the Board for Special Olympics Texas at that time. The event raised $38,500 and the proceeds made it possible to hire a Special OlympicsTexas Games Coordinator for Area 20 which included San Antonio. Chuck Hendryx(H-E-B V.P.) and Kathy Ashwin (Admin Asst.) organized the event in six weeks and concluded, if they had a year to plan the event, more money would be raised. The following year the event raised $78,000 and the rest is history!

Over the past 37 years, this event has raised over $145 million dollars benefiting Special OlympicsTexas and other worthwhile organizations that focus on children and educational initiatives throughout the State of Texas.

In 2003, the H-E-B Tournament of Champions Charitable Trust was established and the event became a 501(c)3 tax exempt private foundation under the Internal Revenue codes.

Michael & Susan Dell Foundation Grants

The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation only accepts unsolicited proposals for specific areas within the education, family economic stability and childhood health sectors in select countries where we work, namely the United States, India and South Africa.

As a guideline, the foundation does not fund more than 25% of a project’s budget or more than 10% of an organization’s total annual operating expenses.

The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation has always recognized the power of providing grants to partner organizations that we knew were already working hard to improve the lives of urban children living in poverty. By aligning with organizations that are already making a difference, we continue to make an immediate impact on the lives of thousands of children.

Foundation priorities:

We fund social enterprises that directly serve or impact children or youth from urban low-income communities in the areas of education, health, and family economic stability (including livelihoods and financial inclusion). These social enterprises may be structured as for-profit or nonprofit entities.

We collaborate with a range of organizations focused on creating opportunities for children and families living in urban poverty, with a deep emphasis on measuring impact. Our funding advances projects already making an impact in education, health, and family economic stability. Through these enduring and long-standing partnerships, we create lasting change together.

We focus our resources on a limited number of key projects that can deliver valuable benefits from our contributions and those of our partners. We give priority to innovative, high-quality projects that meet the following criteria:

• involve Roche actively at an early stage with local authorities and established partners
• engage Roche employees in cultural (focus on contemporary arts), educational and social activities
• managed by an accredited charity

Mission

Driven by a philanthropic calling to support marginalized communities throughout the world, the Semnani Family Foundation partners with on-the-ground organizations and leverages its resources in a cost-effective and efficient manner that delivers the maximum benefit.

History

Guided by his grandmother Maliheh’s example and teachings, Khosrow Semnani and his wife Ghazaleh established the Semnani Family Foundation in 1993. The foundation’s first grant was issued through CARE International to an orphanage in Romania that cared for newborns affected by HIV. Over the last few decades, the foundation has continued to build upon its mission to empower the disaffected, partnering with a variety of organizations in different countries who can make the greatest impact.

In addition to its global influence, the Semnani Family Foundation established roots within the state of Utah with the founding of Maliheh Free Clinic in 2005 to provide free healthcare to thousands of uninsured people in the Salt Lake City area.

Grants are made at the Foundation’s discretion based on our current funding strategies focused on housing, jobs and hunger.

We prioritize our funding to activities and programs that have a broad reach and support the needs of underserved communities. We aspire to have a positive impact on the communities we serve by using our financial and volunteer resources and business expertise in collaboration with community organizations to help solve complex societal problems.

We may also support other local needs in eligible communities such as disaster relief, arts and culture, civic engagement, education, human and social services, and workforce development. However, opportunities are limited as our intent is to direct the majority of our giving within our major focus areas.

Potts and Sibley Foundation

D. J. Sibley and his wife, Effie Potts, were long-time and prominent members of the Trans-Pecos and Big Bend portions of West Texas. After the death of D.J. Sibley, Mrs. Sibley felt the need to share what the land had provided them. Mrs. Effie Potts Sibley of Ft. Stockton, Texas established the Potts and Sibley Foundation on November 24, 1967. Mrs. Sibley passed away on April 24, 1978 and subsequently the Potts and Sibley Foundation was funded by her estate.

Grants

The Potts and Sibley Foundation is a private charitable foundation based in Midland, TX. It focuses on grants primarily supporting charitable organizations in areas like healthcare, food banks, mental health, shelter for the needy, nature and conservation education, domestic violence assistance, and senior programs.

PLTW Computer Science - New Program (Phillips 66)

Phillips 66 invests in expanding access to quality education, because literacy and workforce preparedness are the foundation of individual achievement and our economic future. To help strengthen the future STEM workforce, we support academic training and educational opportunities that encourage broader participation, especially among students who have historically had fewer opportunities in these fields. Middle school is a time of exploration, a time when students are figuring out what they're passionate about today and how that relates to who they'll become tomorrow.

Phillips 66 has partnered with Project Lead The Way to support PLTW Gateway programs in middle schools and Engineering and Computer Science in high schools in Phillips 66 communities. PLTW courses empower students to experience and see a range of STEM pathways and possibilities in high school and beyond. Through this partnership, Phillips 66 is supporting PLTW grants to schools interested in starting and expanding PLTW programs beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. 

Grantee must offer at least one PLTW Computer Science course in the 2026-2027 academic year and must offer one additional course each academic year of the grant period (two different courses in two years). Grantee may implement any PLTW Computer Science courses of their choosing. Grantee must complete two years of grant reporting.

PLTW Computer Science - Program Expansion (Phillips 66)

Phillips 66 invests in expanding access to quality education, because literacy and workforce preparedness are the foundation of individual achievement and our economic future. To help strengthen the future STEM workforce, we support academic training and educational opportunities that encourage broader participation, especially among students who have historically had fewer opportunities in these fields. Middle school is a time of exploration, a time when students are figuring out what they're passionate about today and how that relates to who they'll become tomorrow.

Phillips 66 has partnered with Project Lead The Way to support PLTW Gateway programs in middle schools and Engineering and Computer Science in high schools in Phillips 66 communities. PLTW courses empower students to experience and see a range of STEM pathways and possibilities in high school and beyond. Through this partnership, Phillips 66 is supporting PLTW grants to schools interested in starting and expanding PLTW programs beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. Preference will be given to schools with majority high-need student population as determined by percent of students eligible for the free and reduced lunch program.

Grantee must use their grant funds to expand their existing PLTW Computer Science program. Example expansion activities include but are not limited to adding an additional PLTW Computer Science course not previously offered, and/or adding additional class periods of an existing PLTW Computer Science courses previously offered, and/or training additional teachers in PLTW Computer Science courses for the 2026.

Our Mission

Our mission is to continue and further the philanthropic legacy of Gardner Cowles, Jr. and the Cowles family, which includes promotion of education, social justice, health, and the arts.

The Founder

The Cowles Charitable Trust was first established in 1948 by Gardner “Mike” Cowles, Jr. (1903-1985). Born into the Cowles publishing family of Des Moines, Iowa, Mike was the youngest of Gardner Cowles and Florence Call Cowles’ six children. A newspaper editor and publisher by trade, he was committed to his family’s traditions of responsible, public-spirited, and innovative journalism as well as philanthropy. 

The Cowles Charitable Trust supports the arts, education, the advancement of ethical journalism, medical and climate research.

Community Grants

Community Grants are awarded in Arkansas and West Texas in the following areas:

Aging Population

Meeting the physical and emotional needs of the elderly, especially efforts to preserve and promote the independence, health, and quality of life of seniors; to improve the quality and availability of both nursing home care and alternatives to nursing home care; and to protect seniors from abuse or financial exploitation.

Arts, Culture, And History

Supporting artistic, historical, or cultural experiences that enhance learning in school-age children, or extend the benefit of the arts to children, the elderly, and others who might not otherwise have access. 

Children And Youth

Meeting the physical and emotional needs of young people, especially efforts to prevent child abuse or neglect or mitigate their effects; to provide healthcare; and to promote and to develop sound character and values in young people.

Economically Disadvantaged

Moving low-income people toward economic independence; providing emergency shelter and assistance; providing healthcare; offering transitional housing and supportive services to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness; and promoting the creation of affordable housing. 

Education

Preparing young children for school; supporting the educational process broadly through means such as parental involvement and teacher training; promoting adult literacy; improving English-language skills in both children and adults; and supporting student-focused programs at the college level that advance other areas of the Foundation’s mission.

Nonprofit Capacity

Building the infrastructure of agencies working in aging, arts, children, economically disadvantaged, or education.

Mission

The Fasken Foundation is focused on empowering our nonprofit partners to transform the lives of underprivileged youth in the Permian Basin and Northern New Mexico. We seek to enhance the future well being of children through strategic grantmaking and awarding educational and vocational scholarships.

As a private 501C3 corporate foundation, The Fasken Foundation primarily reviews and grants those requests for youth, health and human services, and education. 

Grant requests are reviewed each quarter. Each entity requesting a grant may make only one application annually. Approximately 80% of the grant funds are distributed in the area around Midland, Texas, with the remaining 20% distributed in those other communities where members and directors live. Requests from organizations in those communities are considered only upon recommendation of board member(s) residing in those communities.

Helen Greathouse Charitable Trust

Mrs. Greathouse was born in 1908 in Graford, Texas, in Palo Pinto County. She was one of five children, having three sisters and one brother. Her father was an attorney and her mother a housewife. She went to school in Tahoka, Texas, and in the late 1920’s, met the love of her life, Barney R. Greathouse. They married in September of 1929 and moved to Midland, Texas in December of 1929. In 1933 they bought the inventory of a failed drug store and opened their own in downtown Midland. In 1955 they moved from downtown to The Village. Helen worked beside her husband, doing much of the purchasing for the business, for over 37 years. They sold to Walgreen’s in 1970, and Barney passed away in 1973. They traveled all over the world and at one time had fished in every free country in the world. Helen always liked to brag that she caught more than Barney and could also outhunt him! 

In later years, Helen became much involved with M.A.R.C. and the CPC Center, as well as Manor Park. She was a caring, giving individual and had an especially warm spot for any and all children (or adults) with any physical or mental handicap or challenge. Helen gave personally to these causes and to her church, First United Methodist, in Midland. In 1997, Helen created the Helen Greathouse Charitable Trust, which was to become the foundation and source of her leaving her legacy by giving back to the community she truly loved. Helen passed away in 2001, but her legacy is only beginning.

To support charities that work with children and persons who must overcome physical and mental challenges in Midland County, Texas.

Who We Are

In 1963 Keleen and Carlton Beal had a desire to contribute to the betterment of Midland, Texas. Their goal was for the improvement of Midland's education, health, humanities and welfare. This passion led to the establishment of the Beal Foundation. Since its inception this foundation has given to 186 organizations. It is the members desire to continue the strong legacy left to us to be a blessing to Midland for years to come.

Who We Help

The Beal Foundation has a long history of making Midland a better place. The following are general guidelines used by the foundation to evaluate grant requests:

• Grants will be considered for agencies involving education, health, humanities, and welfare in the Midland area.
• The Beal Foundation’s history with each organization will be considered.
• Grants will be considered by their mission, need and other support.

Henry Foundation

Purpose

The Henry Foundation was established on August 9, 2006, with the Office of the Secretary of State in Texas as a 501(c) organization under Texas Code Section 11.18 (c). Its purpose is “to receive and administer funds which shall be used exclusively for the performance of charitable activities within the meaning of Internal Revenue Code Section 501 (c) (3) and the Texas Tax Code Section 11.18 (c).”

Specifically the Corporation is “organized to engage directly in the support of charitable, benevolent, religious, eleemosynary (defined as generous in assistance to the poor), literary, patriotic, civic, and scientific and educational purposes and to support other qualified organizations or entities engaged in such purposes, all in compliance with the Corporation’s tax exempt status, the Internal Revenue Code and Texas law.”

Objectives

• To make Midland a better place by supporting quality of life for all community residents,

• To collaborate (partner and invest) with other non-profit organizations in order to address issues within the community which impede quality of life for all residents, and
• To invite other foundations and community groups to join in thoughtful giving which addresses root causes and ‘builds fences” rather than “band-aids” issues for the community.

Areas of Interest

The Henry Foundation makes grants to qualified 501(c) (3) non-profit organizations in a wide variety of program areas including social services, education, health, youth programs, recreation, arts and cultural activities for the benefit of the community.

Geographic Focus With the Henry’s long time involvement in the local community and Midland being the main place of Mr. Henry’s professional life, the couple prefers their funding commitment go to benefit programs and services primarily located in Midland, Texas. Consideration may be given to projects outside the community with emphasis on support for areas where the Henrys have a business or personal connection.Types of Support Gifts range in size and may fund capital and special projects (2/3) and operating (program) grants (1/3), but not endowment funds. Collaborative projects shared with other organizations or funders and both multi-year and challenge or matching gifts will be considered for funding by The Henry Foundation.

History

Emma Elizabeth Barnsley was born on December 10, 1926 in Crane County, Texas and grew up in the areas of Crane, Midland, and Odessa, Texas. She moved to New York City as a young woman where she spent most of her adult life. Ms. Barnsley had a deep love for animals of all kinds. It is because of this passion she established the Emma Barnsley Foundation for the purposes of the prevention of cruelty to animals and the study, care, protection, and preservation of animals, both domestic and wild, and their environment. Ms. Barnsley passed away on August 1, 2007 in New York.

Mission

The mission of the Emma Barnsley Foundation is to promote the prevention of cruelty to animals and for the study, care, protection, and preservation of animals, both domestic and wild, and their environment.

Giving

The Emma Barnsley Foundation awards grants exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes as follows:

• To aid and assist in the prevention of cruelty to animals, both domestic and wild.

• To aid and assist in the care, protection and preservation of animals, both domestic and wild, and the environment in which such wild animals may live.

• To provide scholarships for deserving young men and women to assist them in the study of veterinary medicine at any institution of higher learning in the state of Texas.

• To assist institutions of higher learning in the state of Texas in the operation and maintenance of courses of study in veterinary medicine and in the study of animals and animal life.

• To assist in research projects involving ecological, environmental, and wildlife studies, provided no funds shall be given to any organization utilizing animals for research or experimental purposes if such animals are in any way harmed, mutilated, intentionally inflicted with disease or any substance causing disease, or if such animals are killed in the course of such research.

Calling to Serve

Since its inception in 2016, the Robinson Foundation has sought to demonstrate God’s love through sharing the gifts we have received. We understand the often unspoken hardships and struggles that people in and outside of our community face everyday. As such, our contributions are focused on relieving these hardships for the betterment of our world.

As a family-operated foundation, we pray that our small efforts will not only create immediate change in the lives of our neighbors, but will help set those lives on a course for success in the future. We take many different aspects of applications into account when making grant issuing decisions, however these are some of the high-level questions we ask ourselves during the process:

• How does the organization serve their key audience goals?
• Is the organization fiscally responsible?
• Will a grant have a tangible, meaningful impact?
• Will we see direct results from this grant?
• Does the organization have other financial contributors?

H-E-B Trees for Texans is a long-term investment in the future of all Texans. As trees grow and mature over time, their benefits extend through generations creating a legacy of sustainability and stewardship for future generations to enjoy.

For Communities Grant

We’re connecting communities to nature with opportunities for hands-on conservation. H-E-B supports communities by partnering with local non-profits to plant trees, engage volunteers, and celebrate the places we call home.

We invite non-profits, municipalities, and civic organizations to apply for a $5,000 grant for projects that increase tree canopy, reduce the heat island effect, increase available greenspace, and beautify public spaces in Texas. This application is open annually, and there are no restrictions regarding number of applications. Organizations are eligible to apply each cycle.

Funding is awarded annually for plantings occurring during the upcoming tree planting season.

Gupta Family Foundation is a private, nonprofit foundation headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, USA. Our mission is to support organizations that provide focused intervention in the lives of people who have been disadvantaged in some way to help them become self-reliant. We take a very broad view of “disadvantage” to include anything that holds a person back from realizing their potential, such as poverty, physical or mental disability, social alienation, etc. The foundation also supports relief agencies that serve people affected by emergencies such as natural disasters.

The foundation evaluates and awards annual and multi-year grants ranging from $5,000 to over $250,000 (USD). Our focus is on funding smaller organizations all around the world that are led by individuals with a deep personal commitment to their missions. 

Our selection criteria include:

• Mission alignment
• The organization is run by the founder or, if not, by a successor who embodies the original inspiration, passion and commitment of the founder.
• At least 90% of grant monies reaches the intended beneficiaries.
• The organization is non-sectarian, i.e.,
  • It does not, directly or indirectly, support or condone the proselytization of any religion,
  • It is not supported by or affiliated to a religious organization.
