Richard & Elizabeth Jones Scholarship Fund

The Richard & Elizabeth Jones Scholarship Fund was established for the purpose of providing scholarships to individuals residing in Calhoun County who will be obtaining an education in graduate school at University of Michigan. The scholarship recipient(s) will be announced and honored annually at the Battle Creek Community Foundation scholarship celebration.

Richard R. Montgomery Scholarship Fund

The Richard R. Montgomery Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by his family and friends to honor him after he passed away on June 22, 2004. Dick came to Battle Creek to work at the Enquirer and News after graduating in Journalism from Michigan State University. He later worked at Clark Equipment as the national sales promotion manager. Dick was a talented, enthusiastic person whose positive attitude enriched all who had the good fortune of knowing him. He worked to enhance the quality of life in the Battle Creek community through his many years of community involvement. He focused on problems that required action. He applied his positive spirit and his eloquent voice to many issues. Dick felt that he could make a difference in the lives of young people by his personal involvement on the General Scholarship Committee of the Battle Creek Community Foundation Scholarship Program. This scholarship has been established to help individuals who are starting out on their educational journey following high school graduation. It is our hope that recipients of this scholarship will display the same character and compassion to better their community as Dick Montgomery did.

The Cherokee Nation Foundation is a nonprofit organization serving the Cherokee Nation, a federally recognized tribe of more than 470,000 citizens. Its mission is to provide educational opportunities to Cherokee students so they can reach their full potential. The Cherokee Nation Foundation is a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Scholarships

Cherokee Nation Foundation offers a diverse range of scholarships to help reverse the trend of rising student debt. Students may receive up to two CNF scholarships per academic year. All opportunities are reserved for Cherokee Nation citizens, unless otherwise noted in the description.

Cherokee Nation Businesses Scholarship

Must be enrolled fulltime with a minimum of 12 hours in an accredited College or University and have a minimum of 48 hours completed and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients must demonstrate a likelihood of providing professional services within the Cherokee Nation Businesses upon graduation and will receive priority review for consideration in the CNB Internship Program. Approved areas of study: Business, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Engineering, Human Resources, Marketing, Mass Communications, Museum Studies, Film Studies.

The Cherokee Nation Council Leadership Scholarship, offered by the Cherokee Nation Foundation, provides a one-year, $5,000 award to Cherokee Nation citizens. Eligible applicants include current full-time students or graduating high school seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA, intended for those attending two- or four-year institutions. The scholarship aims to empower Cherokee students by alleviating financial burdens and fostering educational attainment within the community, with specific awards designated for each Council district and additional at-large recipients.

The Nonprofit Sabbatical Grant Program, funded by The Colorado Health Foundation, offers up to $100,000 to support nonprofit leaders in Colorado. This initiative allows executives to take a much-needed sabbatical of three to four months, fostering rejuvenation and innovative thinking. The program emphasizes diversity in its grantee selection, aiming to address entrenched inequities while ensuring sustainability in organizational operations during the absence of leaders. By investing in interim leadership and staff development, it enhances the capacity of nonprofits to serve their communities effectively.

Robert D. and Shirley M. McFee Scholarship Fund

This fund has been established for the purposes of providing scholarships to the students from the Calhoun County area who have been accepted for attendance at the University of Michigan and must reside in the area of the University of Michigan Club of Calhoun County. Applicants must also agree to attend at least one meeting of the University of Michigan Club of Calhoun County function during the year following receipt of the scholarship.

Robert & Eleanor DeVries Family Practice Scholarship

Robert and Eleanor DeVries know the importance of quality health care to communities. This scholarship will promote greater Battle Creek area physician extender positions (e.g.: nurse practitioner, physician assistant, resident physician, etc.) within the family practice field.

Stealth Biotherapeutics offers grants and sponsorships aimed at enhancing healthcare education for providers and patient communities. This award recognizes students who exemplify leadership qualities and an interest and desire to give back to the Cherokee people. Applicant must be a current, full-time student at a two- or four-year higher education institution, or a graduating high school senior accepted to a two- or four-year higher education institution with a minimum 3.0 GPA. This is a one-year, $5,000 award not limited by residence.
