Empowering Equality at the LGBTQ Fund

The LGBTQ Fund is a charitable endowment at the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham that supports programs in Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Blount, and Walker counties :

• Strengthen the infrastructure of organizations led by or serving LGBTQ persons
• Support the provision of services to LGBTQ youth, individuals and families
• Provide educational opportunities that highlight the needs of the LGBTQ community
• Advance collaboration between LGBTQ organizations and other community organizations
• Support nonprofit partners working on public policy and social justice issues that intersect with LGBTQ concerns

Kiwanis Club of Allentown

The Kiwanis Club of Allentown was chartered on May 14, 1918 with one hundred members. It is one of the oldest Kiwanis clubs in Pennsylvania. One of the club’s first service projects was the establishment of a shelter for children from homes with Spanish Influenza. By 1921, the club grew to 118 members.

Each fiscal year, beginning October 1, our Foundation awards grants to worthwhile projects and programs in our community. Individual grants usually do not exceed $1,500, although periodically we have awarded grants of a more substantial nature for special projects of significant value to the local, as well as global, community.

We offer grants from our Foundation to non-profit organizations that serve children in the Lehigh Valley. We give preference to those who serve Allentown, PA. Grants are generally kept to $1,500.00 or less. If you have received a grant from us before, you must complete a Grant Feedback Form.

Charles Black Construction Company, Inc. Scholarship

The Charles Black Scholarship Fund award identifies and recognizes high school seniors at various high schools in northeast Georgia who have achieved excellence in school and community life. The scholarship fund was created by the Charles Black Construction Company in 2002 as a way to show appreciation for past business relationships by giving back to the community. The scholarship was formally known as the Northeast Georgia School Superintendent’s Scholarship. The resulting scholarships recognize today’s graduating seniors, inspire undergraduate students, and will impact the quality of life in our communities for generations to come.

This scholarship is a one-time award, and recipient school systems and award amounts are determined each year by the Charles Black Construction Company. In 2026, scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who plan to attend an accredited college, university, or technical school.

The 2026 scholarships will be 41, $1,000 awards available to graduating seniors at: Apalachee High School, Banks County High School, Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy, Commerce City, Elbert County High School, Franklin County High School, Gilmer County High School, Hart County High School, Lanier Christian Academy, Lumpkin County High School, Madison County High School, Newton County High Schools (Alcovy, Eastside and Newton), Rabun County High School, Towns County High School, Union County High School, White County High School, and Winder-Barrow High School.

This program enables families to construct their own homes in rural areas, providing essential technical assistance. Eligible applicants include government non-profits and federally recognized tribes, while funds cannot be used for purchasing materials or hiring external labor. This initiative promotes community collaboration and empowers families in the home-building process.

Helping to educate the next generation

The Renton Regional Community Foundation manages a number of scholarship funds and strongly supports your dream to pursue a post-secondary education. In 2025 we awarded $117,950 to 27 students. 

In 2026, 22 scholarships are provided due to the generosity of Renton Regional Community Foundation fund holders.

This scholarship was established in 2018 for the purpose of furthering the education and overall development of a student who has lost a parent prior to graduating high school.

The Mutual Self-Help Housing Technical Assistance Grants in Nevada support organizations in facilitating self-help housing projects for low-income families. By providing technical assistance, these grants enable participants to build their homes collaboratively, fostering community development. Eligible areas can be verified through the USDA Eligibility Site. The program emphasizes the importance of assisting families with loan applications and project participation, while prohibiting funding for direct construction work or purchasing materials.

The George Family Foundation's Authentic Leadership Grants aim to foster transformative leadership by supporting organizations that align with their mission. The foundation focuses on developing authentic leaders who demonstrate integrity and commitment to social change. They prioritize funding for programs that encourage leadership development across diverse sectors and ensure equitable access to opportunities in higher education, particularly in Minnesota and select areas. Their approach is rooted in building compassionate communities and addressing systemic challenges.

The Illuminate the Arts Grant (ITAG) supports small nonprofit arts organizations in Philadelphia with operating budgets under $100,000. A total of $1.5 million will be allocated to enhance creative practices and expand access to the arts in underserved neighborhoods. This initiative, established in 2021, seeks to uplift historically marginalized communities and foster Philadelphia's cultural vibrancy while ensuring equitable distribution of funds through collaboration with local advisory committees.

The Mutual Self-Help Housing Technical Assistance Grants in Nebraska provide funding to organizations that assist low-income families in constructing their own homes. This program encourages community collaboration, where participants contribute labor under the guidance of qualified organizations. Eligible applicants include government non-profits, federally-recognized tribes, and private non-profits. Funds support technical assistance, family recruitment, and loan application processes, while prohibiting expenses related to hiring construction labor or purchasing materials.

The Mutual Self-Help Housing Technical Assistance Grants in Montana support qualified organizations in facilitating local self-help housing projects. These grants enable very-low- and low-income families to construct their homes with guidance and technical assistance. Eligible areas can be verified through the USDA Eligibility Site, and funds can be utilized for recruiting families and providing necessary supervision and assistance throughout the housing construction process.

The Community Foundation of Marquette County distributes over $130,000 annually in scholarships to benefit aspiring students in Marquette County.

Philip A. Spade and Ruth M. Spade Scholarship

Provides scholarships which benefit students educated in the Gwinn Public School System from elementary school through graduation, with particular emphasis on attendance at George D. Gilbert Elementary School. 

Distribution Process

• CFMC scholarship recipients will be contacted in June requesting student enrollment verification
• Scholarships can only be distributed once student’s information is received
• Scholarships will be distributed to the college/school/university indicated by student
• The scholarship must be used for tuition and fees required for the enrollment or attendance of the student at a qualifying educational institution; fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses of instruction at such an educational institution; and room and board, within the first semester of first year of students enrollment
• That year’s recipient must claim the scholarship within that fiscal year to be distributed (by 12/31/xx)

The HFBC Community Fund Grants support local organizations in Bartholomew County with an annual budget of over $700,000. The program focuses on areas such as arts, culture, youth development, and downtown vibrancy. Grants are awarded to foster innovative community solutions, encourage collaboration, and promote sustainability. Priority is given to projects that enhance community engagement and address pressing needs, while ineligible projects include those primarily funded by Heritage Fund or seeking to cover operational expenses.

The Charles A., Dhel L., and Katharine Funkhouser Memorial Scholarship provides $1,500 in renewable financial assistance to high school seniors graduating from Dayton Public Schools. Established by Jeanne Funkhouser-Reeder and her husband, Vern W. Reeder, this scholarship aims to support deserving students demonstrating financial need and academic potential. Administered by The Dayton Foundation, it encourages graduates to pursue further education at accredited colleges or universities.

Jacob L. and Ella C. Loose Foundation Grant 

The Jacob L. and Ella C. Loose Foundation supports organizations working to strengthen the lives of children and families across Kansas City and Jackson County, Missouri.

Grant Focus:

In 2026, the Loose Foundation’s Board will be considering local nonprofits for the Empower Together event. This special gathering creates space for connection—bringing the Loose Foundation together with organizations to learn more about their work and to celebrate a shared commitment to helping children and families thrive in Kansas City.

Eligibility Requirements: Eligible applicants include organizations that focus on serving children and families within Kansas City, Missouri and/or Jackson County, Missouri.

Kids' Chance of Pennsylvania Scholarship

The mission of Kids’ Chance of Pennsylvania, Inc. (Kids’ Chance of PA) is to provide scholarship grants for college and vocational education to children of Pennsylvania workers who have been killed or seriously injured in a work-related accident resulting in financial need.

The hardships created by the death or serious disability of a parent often include financial ones, making it difficult for deserving young people to pursue their educational dreams. That's where we come in - helping those dreams become a reality!

We are dedicated to supporting the higher education of the children of seriously injured or killed Pennsylvania workers. Since our inception in 1997, we have provided over 1,150 scholarships totaling more than $3.2 million to deserving students! If you are one of these children, we encourage you to take the time to fill out this application. Additionally, if you receive a KCPA scholarship, you may be eligible to receive supplemental grant money through an agreement with the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency/Pathways to Higher Education (PHEAA/PATH) Program

Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis and must be reapplied for each year. 

The Adult Protective Services Technology Modernization Grant provides funding to assist Illinois service providers in upgrading their technology to improve efficiency in serving older adults. Eligible applicants include various government and nonprofit organizations that have previously submitted a letter of intent. The grant supports reimbursement for qualifying technology purchases, excluding large items over $5,000, ensuring agencies can enhance their service delivery capabilities effectively.

KaBOOM! Multi-Sport Courts provide innovative playspaces designed to meet the needs of older youth. These customizable sports courts allow communities to engage in various sports such as basketball and volleyball, addressing the lack of play opportunities. With guidance from KABOOM! Project Managers, applicants can fundraise and collaborate with community members to create an inviting space for active play, ensuring sustainable maintenance and ownership post-project completion.

The AHA: Rapid Response Funding offers crucial support to nonprofit organizations facing urgent campaign needs in the final stages of policy advocacy. This funding is intended for grassroots organizing, coalition building, polling, and media relations to successfully push for policy passage or defend against harmful legislation. Only organizations that are tax-exempt and have exhausted other resources are eligible, ensuring that funds are directed to campaigns with critical needs.

John & Nancy Dennis Scholarship Fund

When the Rev. John Dennis had served in his ministry at the First Presbyterian Church of Corvallis for thirty years, friends and members of the congregation and the community wanted to honor his and his wife’s lifelong dedication of service to others. With these contributions, and those of the Dennis family, the John and Nancy Dennis Scholarship Fund was established.
