Preserving American Historical Treasures

The 1772 Foundation was named in honor of its first restoration project, Liberty Hall in Union, New Jersey. Built in 1772 by William Livingston, New Jersey’s first elected governor, the residence was home to generations of the Livingston and Kean families, including Stewart Barney Kean, who founded the 1772 Foundation in 1984. Liberty Hall has since been converted into a museum and the Foundation, thanks to Mr. Kean, continues to provide ongoing support for it and many others like it across the country. Upon Mr. Kean's death, in 2002, the Foundation grew from a $2.1 million private foundation to one with over $80 million in assets. In the twenty years since then, the foundation has granted more than $50 million for historic preservation work throughout the United States. After learning of the Kean Family's ties to slavery, the 1772 Foundation has committed to increased funding to racial justice and African American history funding.

Massachusetts Historic Preservation Matching Grants

The 1772 Foundation has announced that funding in the form of 1:1 matching grants of up to $10,000 will be made available for the following historic preservation projects: exterior painting, finishes and surface restoration, fire detection/lightning protection/security systems, repairs to/restoration of porches, roofs and windows, repairs to foundations and sills, and chimney and masonry repointing.

To demonstrate the sustainability of historic sites, applicants maybe required to submit a cyclical maintenance plan, condition assessment, restoration plan or stewardship plan that has been prepared or updated within the last five years. If an appropriate plan does not exist, the Foundation will consider providing support for development of a plan on a case-by-case basis

The Foundation will consider the following: 

• exterior painting, finishes, and surface restoration
• installation or upgrade of fire detection, lightning protection, and security systems
• repair or restoration of porches, roofs, and windows
• structural foundation and sill repair or replacement
• chimney and masonry repointing (exterior only)
• ​climate action to include energy audit assessments, insulation upgrades, alternative energy sources (solar, wind, geothermal, etc.), upgraded/converted systems/appliances, and storm windows. Water mitigation projects may be considered, but preference will be given to decarbonization upgrades. Applicants are encouraged to leverage programs offered by utility providers.

The Tony Daniel Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Abilene, supports students from various high schools, including Coleman and Santa Anna. This scholarship honors Anthoney 'Tony' Daniel, a dedicated educator and FCA advocate, who inspired many during his life. Award amounts range from $500 to over $5,000, with payments sent directly to educational institutions for the fall and spring semesters, aiding students in their pursuit of education.

Cumberland Community Foundation ("CCF") manages more than 60 scholarship endowment funds created by local individuals, families, civic organizations, and corporations who want to provide a path to higher education for future generations. 

Each year, Cumberland Community Foundation announces more than $1,000,000 in college scholarships to students from southeastern North Carolina.

Organization of Korean-American Women of NC Scholarship

Currently enrolled in a NC college, university or community college, taking a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester.

The Trutta Fund Supporting Veterans Grant, administered by the Western Colorado Community Foundation, offers financial assistance to organizations serving veterans in Mesa and Delta Counties. Grants, typically up to $10,000, focus on projects that support veterans' basic needs, mental health, community engagement, and access to services. Eligible organizations must be qualified 501(c)(3) entities or public agencies providing services in these counties, ensuring that veterans and their families receive essential help.

The Virginia Touring Grants program supports high-quality arts performances by reimbursing eligible organizations up to 50% of performance fees for artists from the VCA Touring Artist Roster. Designed to expand access to the arts, these grants are available to Virginia nonprofit organizations, local governments, and federally tax-exempt schools. Presenters must secure a 1:1 cash match and ensure programs are publicly accessible, fostering increased community engagement with the arts throughout Virginia.

The John A. Kilpatrick Memorial Scholarship, established in 2016 by the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, supports qualified recipients pursuing post-secondary education. This scholarship is specifically for current or former members of the U.S. Marine Corps who have been stationed at Parris Island, SC, with a preference for applicants who have lived in New Jersey. The foundation has dedicated over $125 million to enhance the Lowcountry community since its inception.

Frontier Statehood Preservation Fund

In honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, the Preservation Alliance of West Virginia announces $500,000 in special grant funding through the Frontier to Statehood Preservation Fund. This historic preservation grant program is dedicated to the rehabilitation and adaptive or continued use of certified historic buildings constructed as of 1871 – when, in a case called Virginia v. West Virginia (1871), the U.S. Supreme Court recognized the legitimacy of the creation of the state of West Virginia in 1863.

Grant funds will support up to ten grant awards for the preservation and restoration of buildings that tell the story of colonial settlement in the Appalachian Mountains, the American Revolution, and the road to statehood, with a focus on creating, advancing, and/or sustaining service/amenity providers and cultural heritage tourism destinations in West Virginia. All properties must be individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places or included as a contributing structure in a National Register Historic District. Grant funding is made possible through the Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant via the National Park Service, United States Department of the Interior.

This is a competitive grant program open to members of the public. 

The Western SARE Local Education and Demonstration Grants aim to promote sustainable agriculture through practical demonstrations and educational activities. This program addresses barriers to adopting sustainable practices by integrating findings from previous research. Projects can last up to three years and receive funding of up to $60,000. Successful proposals involve local demonstrations, trainings, and technical assistance, engaging farmers, ranchers, and agricultural professionals in the process of sustainable agriculture adoption.

The American Urological Association's Residency Research Award supports urology residents in their research training, aimed at fostering future leaders in urologic research. Each award provides $10,000 for essential research supplies and resources for projects lasting 3-12 months. Recipients must dedicate 80% of their time to research during this period, ensuring they build a strong foundation for their research careers.

The American Urological Association offers Medical Student Fellowships to enhance urological research. This program allows exceptional medical students to engage in mentored research with leading urologic scientists, receiving a stipend of $4,000. The initiative aims to cultivate the next generation of urologic researchers. Importantly, research projects no longer require a full 10-week commitment during summer, providing greater flexibility for participants. This fellowship is a significant opportunity for young investigators to contribute to advancements in urological care.

The Opioid Settlement Funds (OSF) Round 2 aims to support the prevention, early intervention, harm reduction, and treatment of opioid-related issues in Santa Cruz County. With a total funding of $810,000 available, nonprofit organizations providing services within the county are invited to apply. This initiative emphasizes collaboration and accountability, as prior awardees can apply for continued support only after fully expending their Round 1 funds. The program focuses on enhancing community health and recovery.

PLTW Launch

Ameren has partnered with PLTW to inspire students and provide the hands-on STEM learning experiences necessary to thrive in life beyond the classroom. Ameren is a supporter of K-12 STEM education in the region and is working with PLTW to provide grant support to schools interested in implementing and our expanding their PLTW Launch programs.

PLTW Launch's 43 interdisciplinary modules bring learning to life. The program empowers students to adopt a design-thinking mindset through compelling activities, projects, and problems that build upon each other and relate to the world around them. And as students engage in hands-on activities in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science, they become creative, collaborative problem solvers ready to take on any challenge.

Through this partnership, Ameren has committed funds to support PLTW grants to schools interested in starting or expanding PLTW Launch programs beginning in the next academic year.

The American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) Veterinary Pharmacology Fellowship Grant supports graduate students pursuing careers in veterinary pharmacology research. Funded in collaboration with the Veterinary Pharmacology Research Foundation, this grant offers up to $10,000 for a one-year fellowship. It covers expenses related to training, professional travel, stipends, and scholarly activities, aiming to enhance the number and quality of skilled researchers in the field.

Phoenix Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI)

The Phoenix UASI program funds addressed the unique risk driven and capabilities-based planning, organization, equipment, training, and exercise needs of high-threat, high-density Urban Areas based on the capability targets identified during the THIRA process and associated assessment efforts; and assists them in building an enhanced and sustainable capacity to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism.

The Samuel Neff Fellowship for International Study Scholarship supports Crawford County, Ohio high school seniors and graduates pursuing educational experiences abroad. Established by The Community Foundation for Crawford County, it honors Samuel Neff's legacy of global engagement. Preference is given to Bucyrus students demonstrating financial need and those traveling outside Western Europe. This scholarship encourages recipients to share their international experiences, fostering a spirit of community and cultural exchange.

Arizona Department of Homeland Security

Mission Statement

To protect Arizona by providing strategic direction and access to resources that will enable all of the State’s homeland security subrecipient stakeholders to achieve our collective goals of preventing terrorist attacks in Arizona, enhancing border security, heightening cybersecurity efforts, reducing Arizona's vulnerability to all critical hazards, building the resiliency of Arizona, and enhancing the capacity and expertise to plan for, mitigate, respond to and recover from all critical hazards that affect the safety, well-being and economic security of Arizona.

AZDOHS administers and manages federal homeland security grants related to terrorism prevention and protecting Arizona from all hazards.

State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP)

The SHSGP assists state, tribal and local preparedness activities that address high-priority preparedness gaps across all core capabilities and mission areas where a nexus to terrorism exists. SHSGP supports the implementation of risk driven, capabilities-based approaches to address capability targets set in urban area, state, and regional Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (THIRAs). The capability targets are established during the THIRA process, and assessed in the State Preparedness Report (SPR) and inform planning, organization, equipment, training, and exercise needs to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and other catastrophic events.

The Welcome Back Scholarship Program, initiated by The Community Foundation for Crawford County, aims to retain college graduates by providing financial support to those who return home and contribute to their community. This reverse scholarship targets graduates with student debt, incentivizing them to live and work in Crawford County after completing their education. By addressing the challenges of talent retention, the program fosters local economic growth and encourages graduates to reinvest in their hometown, creating a positive cycle of community development.

The South Central Community Foundation (SCCF) offers a $5,000 Children's Health Grant aimed at enhancing health initiatives for youths aged 18 and under within its service area. This grant is accessible to nonprofits, schools, churches, and cities located in Barber, Comanche, Kingman, Kiowa, Pratt, Rice, and Stafford counties. SCCF is committed to improving community health and providing resources to address local needs effectively.

The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown offers a prestigious Writing Fellowship for emerging writers. This seven-month residency, running from October to April, provides a $1250 monthly stipend, private accommodations, and a $1000 exit stipend for relocation. With a legacy of supporting notable writers like Louise Glück and Jhumpa Lahiri, the fellowship emphasizes self-directed creative time. Application fees vary by date, starting at $40, to enhance accessibility for all applicants.

Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) - Pennsylvania

This program provides funding for physical and cybersecurity enhancements and other security-related activities to nonprofit organizations that are at high-risk of a terrorist or other extremist attack.

The Nonprofit Security Grant Program also seeks to integrate the preparedness activities of nonprofit organizations with broader stated and local preparedness efforts,

What Can Funds Be Used For?

The grant program seeks to integrate preparedness activities of nonprofit organizations with broader state and local preparedness efforts.

This funding for eligible nonprofit organizations is generally limited to target hardening and physical security enhancements.

NSGP funds may be used for:

• Planning related to the protection of the facility and people within the facility.
• Equipment focused on target hardening and physical security enhancements.
• Training and Exercise for nonprofit security personnel to attend security-related training courses and programs or participate in security-related exercises.
• Contracted Security personnel are allowed under this program only as described in this NOFO. The recipient must be able to sustain this capability in future years without NSGP funding. NSGP funds may not be used to purchase equipment for contracted security.
• Construction and Renovation with pre-approval from DHS/FEMA.
• Management and Administration (M&A) for costs directly related to the administration of NSGP funds.

The scholarship is for an upcoming female junior or senior in the USA College of Education, who is a teacher candidate, has a minimum 3.2 GPA, provides evidence of interest/ involvement in educational groups, and demonstrates financial need. Award is only for tuition and fees.
