OSUNO Undergraduate Nursing Scholarship

The Ohio Nurses Association (ONA), local Ohio State University Nurses Organization (OSUNO) Undergraduate Nursing Scholarship was established by the Mid-Ohio District

Nurses Association, to honor leadership in mentoring, education, volunteerism and advocacy on public health issues that drive commitment to the nursing profession. As the successor organization, OSUNO carries this commitment forward.

Scholarship Fund of The Stephen H. Barmakian Family Foundation

Stephen H. Barmakian was born in Cambridge, MA on July 5, 1926, a son of the late Haroutune Kevork and Armenoohi Barmakian. He grew up with his brother Haig in a tight-knit and loving family, and the two brothers, although four years apart, were as close as twins. Stephen was a standout athlete and talented enough on the baseball field to have been signed to a major league contract by the Boston Red Sox. His plans to work the diamond were interrupted by World War II and a few months after graduating from Watertown High in 1944, he joined the U.S. Army. Stephen’s older brother and best friend, who he affectionately called ‘Haigy,’ had been fighting with General George S. Patton’s Third Army since the liberation of Europe had begun earlier that year. On the first of February, 1945, Haigy was killed in action fighting with his unit in Germany and the world changed forever for Stephen and his family. It took weeks for the news to come home to Watertown, and even longer to reach Stephen. Following his discharge from the Army at the war’s end, Stephen enrolled at Northeastern University and later transferred to Boston University, all while resurrecting his baseball career. He played for a time with the Saint Louis Browns organization. Until his retirement, Stephen worked for the federal government as a public relations specialist. He was a member of Pequossette Lodge A.F. & A.M., and had been a life member of The Grand Lodge of Masons of Massachusetts. He remained active and independent all his life and was known to walk for miles well into his eighties. He is remembered by many dear friends, including Joseph Balian and Madeline Ives.

R + L Carriers Scholarship

The scholarship supports the R+L Carriers employees' dependent children in achieving their higher education goals.

Students pursuing higher education who live in, or attend school in, select central Ohio counties can receive need-based scholarship support through the Betsy Rueb Scholarship. Focused on higher education, The Columbus Foundation invites eligible applicants to attend a post-secondary institution anywhere in the U.S., which may benefit families of Pushmataha County, Oklahoma nonprofits with Ohio ties.

Graduating or past Dublin City Schools high school students planning to major in education and attend a U.S. institution can receive up to US $10,000 through the Ann E. Myers Scholarship. The Columbus Foundation provides this multi-year award, which may benefit future educators from areas including Pushmataha County, Oklahoma who meet these criteria.

Special educators seeking additional special education licensing or a master’s degree can receive up to US $2,500 annually for tuition and related costs, with eligibility based on teaching in specified Northeast Indiana public schools. WindSwell Foundation’s scholarship may interest Pushmataha County, Oklahoma educators exploring comparable professional development opportunities.

Research institutions and other eligible organizations conducting agricultural crops research on plant-based and fermentation-derived proteins can seek US $400,000 - US $500,000 to improve flavor and functionality. Pushmataha County, Oklahoma students pursuing vocational, trade, engineering, design, architecture, or computer science studies can access funding through the Pittsburgh Foundation’s Daniel R. Miller (Fretts) Memorial Scholarship Fund. Graduating seniors or current students at state institutions with financial need and at least a 2.0 GPA may receive US $1,000 - US $2,000 for accredited programs.

Graduating high school seniors pursuing engineering, manufacturing, or related trades can receive up to US $5,000 for first-year college or trade studies through the David R. Miller and Sara G. Miller Scholarship Fund. The applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above. The applicant must also show community leadership in the form of volunteer activities inside and outside of school.
