Promotes excellence in academic research for members early in their careers. This award honors the founding editor of the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (JVIR) and recognizes the importance of the young investigator in developing interventional solutions for the future.

In 1990, SIR Foundation established the Dr. Gary J. Becker Young Investigator Award as a way to recognize promising young practitioners of interventional radiology early in their careers and encourage their pursuit of academic careers. Provides scholarships to students from Marquette County who are entering into a college educational program in the field of nursing. Applicants will also be judged by financial need.

Distribution Process

• CFMC scholarship recipients will be contacted in June requesting student enrollment verification
• Scholarships can only be distributed once student’s information is received
• Scholarships will be distributed to the college/school/university indicated by student
• The scholarship must be used for tuition and fees required for the enrollment or attendance of the student at a qualifying educational institution; fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses of instruction at such an educational institution; and room and board, within the first semester of first year of students enrollment
• That year’s recipient must claim the scholarship within that fiscal year to be distributed (by 12/31/xx)

Grants and Special Offerings

Beyond our normal budgeted support of agencies ministering to the vulnerable in our community, Second Presbyterian Church provides avenues for additional funding for agencies serving those in need in our community through specific grants, funds, and special offerings. Donations to these funds are always welcome.

Mountain Avenue Fund

The Mountain Avenue Fund was established in 2018 with the objective of supporting local agencies dealing with issues of hunger, homelessness, poverty, and at-risk children.

The Van London Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in 1953 by Communities Foundation of Texas, offers a one-year scholarship up to $15,000 for students who are blind. This scholarship supports tuition, fees, books, and on-campus housing for those pursuing college or trade school certifications, ensuring that education is accessible to all. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents and in good standing as students.

The Community Health Aide Program (CHAP) aims to assist Tribes and Tribal Organizations in planning and implementing health services tailored to their unique needs. This initiative by the Indian Health Service promotes flexibility for Tribes across the contiguous 48 states to create effective health programs. By identifying key feasibility factors, the program seeks to enhance community health outcomes and support the establishment of sustainable healthcare solutions.

The John and Rheba Myers Scholarship, established by the Communities Foundation of Texas, offers financial assistance for up to full tuition and fees to graduating high school seniors or residents from Kaufman, Van Zandt, Wood, and Smith Counties. Eligible candidates must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher and meet SAT or ACT score requirements. This scholarship supports academic pursuits at any accredited institution in the U.S., with no restrictions on fields of study.

The Paul & Barbara Bond College Scholarship, offered by the Erie Community Foundation, supports graduating seniors from Erie City’s Public schools. Eligible students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in any field. In 2023, the foundation awarded over $800,000 in scholarships to more than 500 deserving students, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing educational opportunities in the community.

Auger & Auger Disabled Scholar Award (Undergraduate Students)

The accident and injury lawyers at Auger & Auger are proud to support the disabled students of America with the launch of their Annual Auger & Auger Disabled Scholar Award, awarded in the Fall Semester each year to one high-achieving, bright student intending to pursue an undergraduate college degree.

We observe firsthand the unique challenges that disabled men and women face and see the strength and perseverance necessary to overcome expectations. As part of our efforts to give back to the disabled community, Auger & Auger Accident and Injury Lawyers is sponsoring a $1,000 scholarship, given once a year, to assist with tuition and expenses at a qualifying undergraduate institution.

The Disabled Scholar Award is just a part of our efforts to be good members of the community and to give back to our fellow citizens. Our participation in Walk Like MADD’s 5K Fun Run helped raise awareness about drunk driving and with the Disabled Scholar Award, we hope to both raise awareness about the challenges disabled young people face while also helping one special young person to achieve his/her goals and dreams.

Applicants will be judged on their academic merits as well as the content of the application and essay they provide.

The John G. Blakesley Mathematical Excellence Scholarship is awarded annually to an exceptional eighth-grade student in Elkhart County. This four-year scholarship, totaling $5,000, supports higher education expenses and is funded by local businessman John Blakesley, who aims to empower future generations. Candidates are nominated by their schools and must demonstrate outstanding character, leadership, and a commitment to learning, reflecting the values cherished by Mr. Blakesley.

South Florida Forensic Engineering 

South Florida Forensic Engineering was founded to provide specific building inspection services, inherent to the unique South Florida location. Our broad-ranging experience and innovative building science research enable us to maintain expert status on the forefront of the modern field of Forensic Engineering. The applications include storm damage assessments, complex plumbing leaks, property dispute resolution, site turnover studies, and building certifications.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Scholarship

We offer one annual Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) scholarship.

The Elizabeth Anne Ala Scholarship, established by Communities Foundation of Texas, offers a $2,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from any Garland ISD high school who has excelled in a bilingual studies/ESL program. Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 overall and a 3.5 in bilingual/ESL classes, and must be U.S. citizens or documented residents. This initiative aims to support students in pursuing higher education.

The Simon Greenstone Panatier Scholarship, offered by the Communities Foundation of Texas, provides annual scholarships totaling $50,000 for students affected by cancer. Eligible applicants include high school seniors from Dallas County or previous SGP recipients, who have a personal or familial cancer diagnosis. The David Jones Peck, MD Scholarship for Health Equity, offered by the American Medical Association Foundation, provides $10,000 in tuition assistance to medical students entering their final year. The Texas DPS Scholarship, offered by the Communities Foundation of Texas, provides financial assistance to current or retired Texas Department of Public Safety employees and their immediate family members. Eligible applicants must be Texas high school graduates or foreign nationals residing in Texas for a year, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and standardized test scores. Scholarships can be applied at accredited colleges or universities in the U.S., fostering educational opportunities for those who serve the community.

The Northwood Woman’s Club Scholarship offers one-year scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 for female students pursuing education at accredited institutions in the U.S. Established in 1953, the scholarship aims to support women in their academic endeavors without restrictions on the field of study. Eligible applicants must be female residents of Dallas or Collin County, Texas, with a minimum GPA of 2.5. This initiative fosters educational growth and community development.

The Dr. Richard Allen Williams & Genita Evangelista Johnson/Association of Black Cardiologists Scholarship offers $5,000 to African American/Black medical students interested in cardiology. This scholarship is part of the AMA Foundation's Physicians of Tomorrow program, which has awarded over $61 million in scholarships since 1950.
