Our K–12 Education Grants support innovative programs that expand access to quality Jewish learning experiences for students across Greater St. Paul.

Expanding access to Jewish learning for K–12 students

K–12 Education Grants are awarded by the St. Paul Jewish Federation’s Education Committee to support innovative, impactful programs that meet the evolving educational needs of children and teens across our 12-county service area. With limited funding available annually, this grant helps fill critical gaps—especially in areas not addressed by other initiatives—by supporting new and creative approaches to Jewish education.

These grants are open to recipients of other Federation funding (including Pillar and Ignite Grants) and are evaluated based on program clarity, innovation, alignment with Federation priorities, evaluation plans, and community collaboration. Each application must represent a single program.

Ignite Grants

Ignite Grants offer one-year funding for new or expanded programs that spark innovation, inclusion, and connection. Open to new and existing partners.

Fueling Ideas. Igniting Impact.

Ignite grants are designed to support programs, projects, and events that align with Federation priorities. Programs, projects, and events funded by Ignite Grants will offer the Jewish community both immediate benefits and the potential for long-term value. Ignite Grants are open to Jewish organizations serving the St. Paul Jewish Federation service area.

Ignite grants fund new programs, projects, or events designed to address otherwise unmet needs in the Jewish community and existing programs, projects, or events that have shown past community impact.

Applicants must demonstrate organizational health, alignment with Federation priorities, and a measurable community benefit. Organizations that receive Ignite Grants are also eligible to apply for Pillar Grants or K-12 Education formula funding and Burst Micro Grants.

The SEMAC Individual Artist Grants support artists in the SEMAC Region by providing financial assistance to foster original artistic work. Grants ranging from $2,000 to $6,000 are available for various disciplines including Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts. Eligible applicants include U.S. citizens aged 18 and over, who are full-time residents of the SEMAC Region. Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development-Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DEED-VRS) is requesting proposals from VRS Community Partners with a VRS Professional and Technical (P/T) contract to partner on VRS’s Disability Innovation Fund (DIF) grant model demonstration project titled Go MN! and provide Progressive Employment services to individuals currently working in subminimum wage employment or who may be contemplating subminimum wage employment in our Apple Valley, Faribault/Owatonna, Rochester, Winona and Woodbury locations. This grant will provide funding to qualified responders to attend “Jobsville” team meetings twice per month as part of implementing the Progressive Employment model, as well as to attend Progressive Employment training and other related meetings and trainings. These funds will be provided to qualified responders to supplement the provision of work-based learning activities and employment services to participants of the Go MN! program.

Request For Proposal: Faribault/Owatonna

The purpose of this grant is to provide services to adults currently working or contemplating work in subminimum wage employment and for youth who are considering subminimum wage employment to explore careers with businesses in the Faribault/Owatonna service area. This grant will be limited to working with individuals in the pilot area and the Go MN! project will help participants explore employment opportunities across different industries.

Up to 3 qualified responders are eligible for up to $10,000 for up to 2 staff members per responder who would work under this grant at $5,000 per staff member. 

The Agriculture Education Grant, funded by Compeer Financial, aims to enhance high school agriculture programs by providing up to $4,000 for classroom equipment and educational initiatives. This grant promotes hands-on learning and modern technologies, ensuring students are well-equipped to explore the evolving agricultural landscape. Eligible applicants include high school agriculture departments within a specified 144-county territory, with a focus on schools that have not received funding in the past two years.

The Emergency Response Equipment Grant Program by Compeer Financial aims to bolster rural communities by providing funding for essential emergency response equipment for volunteer fire, rescue, and ambulance departments. With grants up to $4,000, this initiative ensures that first responders have the necessary tools to protect and serve their communities effectively. Eligibility is limited to rural departments in the 144-county territory, ensuring that help reaches those who need it most.

The Farmers Market Grant Program by Compeer Financial aims to support organizations enhancing services at farmers markets. Grants of up to $1,000 are available for marketing efforts, technology upgrades, and vendor education. Eligible applicants must be bona fide farmers markets with at least three vendors of locally-produced products and must operate in the designated 144-county area. Fall 2026 Grant Cycle Details

Grant Guidelines and Eligibility

Reliable emergency services are essential to every community. In rural areas, those services are often provided by volunteers who step forward when their neighbors need them most.

The Taylor Family Farms Foundation is now accepting grant applications from emergency services providers serving rural communities.

Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, schools, and municipalities that are eligible to receive funding from a public foundation.

Nonprofit and community-based health organizations in rural Minnesota, including Steele County, can seek US $180,000 - US $200,000 to design and run innovative HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) programs. Grants from Minnesota Department of Health help expand PrEP access, increase HIV screening and referrals, and reduce HIV risk behaviors in high-need rural communities.

The SMIF Paint the Town Grants aim to foster community pride and collaboration by funding mural, welcome sign, or historic structure painting projects in communities with populations under 10,000. Administered by the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation in partnership with local Ace Hardware stores, these grants encourage volunteer participation and visual impact. Eligible projects must demonstrate public use and community engagement, ensuring that at least half of the painting work is conducted by volunteers.

501(c)(3) organizations providing early care and education for children birth to five in Steele County, Minnesota can receive support to maintain and enhance services. Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation offers up to US $20,000 for projects addressing young children’s social, emotional, physical, and mental health, as well as staff training and program development within its 20-county region.

Steele County, Minnesota nonprofits and public entities running food access or nutrition education programs can access funding through Bayer Fund to combat malnutrition and hunger. Eligible applicants are experienced, financially sound 501(c)(3) organizations or government units in legacy-Monsanto communities, supporting underserved families, rural communities, and children under five with healthy food and nutrition initiatives.

The Small Cities Development Program (SCDP) provides essential funding to cities, townships, and counties for housing, public infrastructure, and commercial rehabilitation projects. Aimed at benefiting low-and-moderate income households, SCDP enhances community viability by facilitating economic opportunities and improving living conditions. Administered by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), this program offers competitive grants for diverse development needs, with funding caps of $600,000 for single-purpose projects and $1.4 million for comprehensive initiatives.

County fair boards and similar entities in Steele County, Minnesota can apply for Compeer Financial’s County Fairground Improvement Grant to renovate, update, or construct agricultural buildings and livestock facilities, with awards up to US $4,000. Projects must support agricultural displays, youth exhibitors, 4-H members, and agriculture education within Compeer’s 144-county territory.

U.S.-based 501(c)(3) pet welfare organizations hosting cat and/or dog welfare events in or near Steele County, Minnesota can apply for Nestlé Purina’s event sponsorship, which offers monetary support, pet food, litter samples, or giveaway items. Eligible events must be within 50 miles of a Purina facility and request support at least six months in advance.
