The Austin FY 2021 – FY 2023 EDA Planning and Local Technical Assistance program, funded by the US Department of Commerce, aims to enhance economic development in distressed areas. This initiative supports local organizations in creating strategic economic development plans, fostering job creation, and attracting investments. It includes Partnership, Short-Term, and State Planning awards to develop Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS) that prioritize regional economic goals and promote resiliency through effective planning and technical assistance.

This scholarship supports enhanced learning and recreational experiences in Polk, St. Croix, or Pierce County. Applications are reviewed monthly without a hard deadline, as long as funds are available. This initiative honors the memory of Bethany Mazur, aiming to create lasting impacts through educational opportunities.

The Russell, John; Dentistry Scholarship, offered by the Beatrice Educational Foundation, aims to support a graduating senior from Beatrice High School pursuing a career in dentistry. This $2,000 scholarship is disbursed in two installments, contingent on continued enrollment in a dentistry program. It is designed for students with financial need, providing invaluable assistance for tuition, room and board, or books during their undergraduate studies.

The Dr. John P. Sheehan Scholarship, awarded by the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, provides financial support to graduates from Utica's public and parochial schools for pursuing higher education or vocational training. This initiative aims to empower local students by facilitating access to educational opportunities, thereby enhancing their lives and contributing to community growth. Eligible candidates must be attending a college in the U.S. and be students from specific schools in Utica.

The Replogle, Greg Scholarship, established by the Beatrice Educational Foundation, offers a $1,000 award to a graduating senior from Beatrice High School pursuing a nursing career. Candidates must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and be active members of their class. Preference is given to students involved in extracurricular activities during their junior and senior years. This scholarship aims to support students in their higher education endeavors, ensuring they have the financial resources needed for success.

The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) fosters a dynamic research environment that enriches cadet education, enhances faculty development, and supports Air Force mission capabilities. By engaging cadets in hands-on research alongside faculty, USAFA cultivates critical thinking and innovation. Additionally, the program addresses vital topics like hypersonics and cybersecurity, while fostering partnerships with industry to stimulate broader technological advancements. This initiative not only benefits cadets and faculty but also serves the public interest.

Since awarding our first $500 scholarship in 1987, the Saginaw Community Foundation has awarded college scholarships to area students totaling more than $13.7 million, thanks to our generous donors. Each year, over 500 college-bound or career and technical education students benefit from our scholarship awards.

Active/Inactive Military and Military Veteran Scholarship

At a very early age in Alabama, Lee Essie Smith was a self-taught musician. After losing her mother as a young teenager, she began putting her God-given musical talent to work as a pianist for several churches. By the time she graduated from high school, she had learned the cosmetology trade and met Charlie McMillan, Jr.

After his wife’s death, Mr. McMillan continued his community service with the Democratic Party, Habitat for Humanity and Mt. Olive Baptist Church as an usher. Although he did not serve very long in the military, Mr. McMillan continues to exemplify the values and physical energy of the “Army Strong” slogan. He is the patriarch of the family – always dapper – and a regular attendee at church services.

The Innovative Programs to Enhance Research Training (IPERT) initiative by the NIH aims to support innovative educational activities that enhance the skills of participants across various career stages in the biomedical research field. This program focuses on courses for skills development, mentoring activities, and curriculum or methods development, ensuring a robust structure for leadership, recruitment, and evaluation.

Minnesota Nurses Association Foundation

The Minnesota Nurses Association Foundation (MNAF), a non-profit corporation affiliated with the Minnesota Nurses Association, provides funding for nursing research grants and scholarships.

Each year, MNAF provides thousands of dollars in scholarships and grants to members and students. They are excellent opportunities to advance the nursing profession through research and education. Members are encouraged to apply.

MNA Legacy Scholarships

Children, grandchildren, or dependents of active or retired MNA members in good standing are eligible to apply for an MNA Legacy Scholarship. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate program. 

The Manes, Max Scholarship offers a $1,000 award to a graduating senior from Beatrice High School pursuing a career in Accounting, or a business student with a numerical focus if no accounting candidates are available. Established by the Beatrice Educational Foundation, this scholarship aims to support students with a minimum 3.5 GPA, good citizenship, and a strong work ethic. Preference is given to students engaged in community and school activities.

The Paddock Lane P.T.O Scholarship, managed by the Beatrice Educational Foundation, aims to support Beatrice High School seniors pursuing higher education. Each year, three scholarships of $300 are awarded to students who have completed 5th grade at Paddock Lane Elementary School. With a strong commitment to education, the foundation provides essential funds to ensure that deserving students can access opportunities for academic advancement.

The Frances V. Fellwock Scholarship, offered by the Beatrice Educational Foundation, provides two $7,000 scholarships to Beatrice High School seniors. One is awarded for scholastic achievement, while the other focuses on financial need. The scholarships support tuition and educational expenses for those pursuing a baccalaureate degree. Applicants must demonstrate high moral character and academic excellence, and a FAFSA Student Aid Report is required for the financial need consideration. Awards are made based on specific eligibility guidelines.

The Pethoud Scholarship, offered by the Beatrice Educational Foundation, awards two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors of Beatrice High School. One scholarship is designated for a student who has played softball for at least two years, while the second is for a senior aspiring to enter the medical field. Both candidates must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, ensuring support for deserving students pursuing higher education.

The NIH HEAL Initiative PainCare Clinician Training Program (PCTP) offers Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Awards (K08) to nurture new independent investigators. This program is pivotal in providing early-career researchers with the necessary NIH support to establish their research programs in pain management. Key deadlines for applications span from October 2024 to June 2027, including provisions for renewals and resubmissions, ensuring ongoing support for innovative research in this critical area.

The March of the Living/Israel Experiences Scholarship, offered by the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation, provides financial support for local Jewish high school juniors and seniors participating in transformative March of the Living experiences. This scholarship aims to enhance cultural understanding and Jewish identity among youth, with specific awards for public school students demonstrating leadership and strong academic performance. Through this initiative, DJCF fosters a commitment to Jewish heritage and community engagement.

The Louise Gartner Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by Gigi Gartner through the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation, offers a $1,145 scholarship to local undergraduate and graduate students studying nutrition or related fields. This fund honors Louise Gartner's legacy of community service and health advocacy, promoting educational advancement in nutrition-focused programs. By supporting students, the scholarship aligns with DJCF's mission of enhancing the Greater Dallas community through charitable giving and fostering a healthier future.

The Joe H. Golman Leadership and Community Service Scholarship Fund, established by the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation, honors the legacy of community leader Joe H. Golman. This $1,000 scholarship supports local Jewish high school seniors who exhibit strong leadership potential and active community participation. By empowering these young leaders, the fund aims to foster a new generation dedicated to community service and educational achievement, reinforcing the values of philanthropy and social responsibility.

The Joe Goldstein Memorial Scholarship in Fashion and Retailing, offered by the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation, awards $5,500 to upper-class undergraduate students majoring in fashion merchandising, retailing, or marketing. Established in memory of Joe Goldstein, this scholarship honors his dedication to the Jewish Community Center of Dallas and aims to support students advancing in consumer industries and business innovation. Preference is given to upperclassmen nearing degree completion, fostering leadership and creativity in the field.

The Gregory R. Jacobs Scholarship, administered by the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation, offers $1,215 to undergraduate and graduate students at the Ackerman Center for Holocaust Studies at the University of Texas at Dallas. Established in honor of Gregory Jacobs, this scholarship prioritizes local students from Dallas, Denton, Tarrant, or Collin County who are committed to completing at least one Holocaust studies course in the upcoming academic year.

The Bill Dorsey Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by the Community Foundation of Washington County, MD, offers scholarships to students at the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts (BISFA). Designed for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors, this fund helps cover costs related to their arts discipline. Applications are available in the Fall, supporting the foundation's mission to enhance educational opportunities for local students and nurture their artistic talents.

The Carol D. Garling Scholarship, established by Carol D. Garling, provides financial assistance to students pursuing a post-secondary education who have completed at least 30 credit hours at an accredited institution. Offered by the Community Foundation of Washington County, MD, this scholarship is part of a larger initiative to support local students and promote educational advancement within the community. The Webber Family Foundation's Capacity Building Grants aim to enhance the capabilities of organizations serving low-income youth in Austin, TX, focusing on education and arts. Grants of up to $25,000 support projects that align with the foundation's mission and benefit students exceeding grade-level expectations. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt and primarily serve local youth. The foundation emphasizes quality education, early literacy, and out-of-school enrichment, fostering both academic and artistic skills.

The Summer Research Education Experience Program (R25) is designed to enhance educational activities in biomedical and clinical research. This program aims to provide high school and undergraduate students, as well as science teachers, with immersive research experiences during summer breaks. Applications for standard and renewal submissions are due on March 18, 2025, and consecutive years thereafter, while AIDS-related applications are due on May 7 in the same years. Letters of Intent are encouraged.

The National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship offers U.S. citizens and nationals the opportunity to pursue doctoral degrees in science and engineering fields critical to the Department of Defense. Awardees receive full tuition coverage, a monthly stipend of $3,600, and health insurance support. With over 4,400 fellowships awarded since its inception, the program aims to foster the next generation of scientists and engineers, encouraging diverse applicants to align their research with DoD priorities.
