South Dakota Beadle Club Foundation

To provide financial support for South Dakota Beadle Club activities and scholarships.

The South Dakota Beadle Club took its name from General William Henry Harrison Beadle who served the people of South Dakota in many ways in promoting a sound system of public schools. One of the stated purposes of the South Dakota Beadle Club is to emulate the motives and ideals of General Beadle in his support of the public schools of the state. 

The Howard J. Brown Scholarship Fund, administered by the Kenosha Community Foundation, provides three scholarships of $2,000 each to local undergraduate students. Applicants must be residents of Kenosha County, have completed at least one year of study at an accredited Wisconsin college or university, and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher. This fund is dedicated to supporting educational opportunities for deserving students in the community.

The Hernandez Family Scholarship Fund, administered by the Kenosha Community Foundation, supports local students originating from Kenosha, Racine, or Walworth County. Eligible applicants include high school seniors and college students enrolled in undergraduate programs, who demonstrate financial need through FAFSA completion and plan to study business or a related field. This scholarship marks its inaugural year, aiming to empower the next generation of leaders in the region.

About Community Foundation of South Alabama

Since its inception, the Community Foundation has grown to over 500 funds and awarded over $98 million in grants and scholarships throughout the eight counties of southwest Alabama, improving the lives of many residents in our corner of the world.

We amplify the gifts from generous donors through wise investment, support others in efforts to enhance our community, and lead and collaborate on initiatives which have a broad impact.

Scholarships

The more than 40 scholarship funds at the Foundation were created by generous donors who wanted to help the students in our community achieve a brighter future. We are committed to assisting the most promising students with scholarships for professional certificate programs, two and four-year undergraduate degrees and graduate school. The scholarship funds at the Foundation award grants to high school, community college and university students to be used for tuition, books, and fees.

Mary & Council Powell Scholarship Fund

For an entering freshman or currently enrolled student at Alabama A&M who has a minimum ACT score of 19 and 3.0 GPA.

Lamport Family Foundation College Grant

The purpose of this grant is to provide scholarships to graduates of Marshall County schools in memory of Steve Lamport and the Lamport Family. Applicants must exhibit the qualities of leadership, good citizenship, honesty, and personal initiative. The amount and number of scholarships awarded shall be determined by the Advisory Council and will be based on the amount of funding available for distribution. Funds will be distributed for the second semester (or quarter) and will be distributed directly to the postsecondary institution.

Wilfred Jaspers Scholarship

To provide financial support as recommended by the scholarship selection committee in accordance with the selection criteria.

This scholarship, established in 2000 for Roslyn High School alumni, has now been made available to college students from the Britton, Langford, and Webster School Districts following the dissolution of the Roslyn School District.

Columbia Community Foundation Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria

• Must be an upcoming graduate from the class of 2026
• Must be a resident of Columbia Township or a Senior at Columbia High School

The KCF Scholarships - Cropley Scholarship Fund provides three one-time scholarships of $2,000 each to eligible Kenosha residents. Applicants must be undergraduates enrolled at an accredited Wisconsin college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have completed at least one year of study. This initiative, managed by the Kenosha Community Foundation, aims to support local students in their pursuit of higher education.

The Slater Excellence in Teaching Award, offered by the Polk County Community Foundation, supports certified classroom teachers and media specialists in Polk County and Landrum. This program encourages professional growth by funding attendance at educational conferences and unique travel experiences related to their curriculum. The aim is to enhance classroom teaching through innovative learning opportunities. Eligible applicants must work directly with students and submit individual applications, ensuring impactful teaching practices in the local community.

The Tri Kappa Scholarship - Women's Giving Circle, established by the Crown Point Community Foundation, aims to enhance life quality in South Lake County by providing financial assistance for various community needs. This non-renewable scholarship is open to residents over 21, with the next awards ceremony scheduled for May 7, 2026. The initiative reflects a commitment to maximize charitable impact while honoring donor intentions.

The Three-year NOMIS–STRI Postdoctoral Fellowships in Sociality in the Tropics offer a unique opportunity for outstanding behavioral biologists to conduct research on sociality in Panama's diverse ecosystems. Funded by the NOMIS Foundation and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, these fellowships provide a yearly stipend of $62,000 and up to $13,000 for research and travel. Successful candidates will explore essential questions related to group living and social diversity, enhancing our understanding of animal societies.

The America250 Public Art Grant, offered by the Mississippi Arts Commission, invites eligible applicants to celebrate Mississippi's rich history as part of the nation's 250th anniversary. With a total funding of $100,000 available for ten grants, the program supports public art projects that reflect themes such as 'We the People' and 'The Future of Mississippi.' Each grant provides $12,000, requiring a 1:1 cash match, encouraging community engagement and artistic expression statewide.

The Midwest Culture Bearers Award honors and supports nine folk arts practitioners annually, providing each with a $5,000 unrestricted grant. This initiative aims to amplify the essential work of culture bearers across the Midwest, fostering opportunities for recognition and community connection. By prioritizing traditional practices and knowledge sharing, the award not only celebrates cultural heritage but also strengthens the creative roots of the region, ensuring vibrant artistic expression for future generations.

The Celebrate Community Fund Grant, managed by the Noble County Community Foundation, aims to enhance cultural awareness and understanding in Noble County. Established in 2001, this fund supports programs that celebrate diverse ethnic heritages, including educational initiatives and community events. It encourages local organizations to apply for grants that foster cultural enrichment, thereby benefiting the community. By engaging in these activities, the fund plays a vital role in promoting inclusivity and appreciation of different cultures within the region.

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties offers scholarships designed to eliminate financial barriers to access Y programs and services. These scholarships enable individuals and families to engage in transformative activities, regardless of their age, background, or income level. Funded by local donors, the scholarships typically cover up to 50% of costs, ensuring that everyone who qualifies can benefit. Applications are assessed based on gross income, household size, and specific circumstances.

The Community Health Foundation offers a Mini Grant of up to $1,000 to support health and wellness initiatives for residents of Clark or Champaign County, Ohio. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations and other public entities that aim to enhance community health. This streamlined application process is designed to empower local organizations in their mission to promote well-being among residents.

The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation's Good Neighbor Program supports local organizations in Westlake Village, California, with grants of $10,000 aimed at general operating support. This initiative streamlines the application process to enhance flexibility for grantees. Title 1 schools can apply for project-specific funding, capped at $5,000, ensuring that assistance is directed where it's most needed. The program emphasizes community engagement and supports nonprofits addressing the needs of disadvantaged individuals.

The First Responders Outreach (FRO) Grant, provided by the Gary Sinise Foundation, supports essential resources for firefighters, police, and EMTs. This grant specifically targets First Responder Departments, allowing one application per year focused on equipment and training. It excludes funding for building costs and weaponry. This initiative aims to enhance the safety and preparedness of those who protect our communities during emergencies, ensuring they have the necessary tools and training to perform their vital roles effectively.

The Henry K. Peterson Foundation Grant supports nonprofit organizations providing services to the disabled population of Southwest Iowa. Established to honor Henry K. Peterson, a notable figure in Iowa's legal and civic communities, this foundation awards approximately $10,000 annually to promote impactful philanthropic initiatives. Through its efforts, the Foundation aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities, fostering community growth and support.

The Traveling Fellowship Program, managed by the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS), offers mid-career members a unique chance to attend the AOFAS Annual Meeting and visit top research institutions. Participants will enhance their skills by observing surgeries, learning new techniques, and sharing their research experiences. The 2025 program runs from September 8-25, featuring visits to esteemed sites, including the University of South Carolina and the Rothman Institute.

The Three Oaks Internship Grant, established by the Washington County Community Foundation, aims to support student interns enrolled in accredited post-secondary programs. This initiative offers financial stipends to interns working for nonprofit organizations in Washington County, Pennsylvania. By providing valuable work experience, the grant fosters personal and professional growth while adhering to state and federal regulations. This innovative program serves as a model for community philanthropy, enhancing opportunities for students and nonprofits alike.

The Perkins Professional Development Grant aims to enhance career and technical education (CTE) by providing high-quality, evidence-based professional development for educators. With approximately $125,000 available, the grant supports training in areas such as online pedagogy and the integration of academic standards. The initiative focuses on equipping teachers with necessary skills to improve student outcomes, particularly in high-needs districts, ensuring alignment with current industry standards and licensure requirements.

The Arts Access Assistance program, run by the Kentucky Arts Council, provides funding between $2,500 and $5,000 to 501(c)(3) nonprofits for innovative arts programming aimed at underserved communities. This initiative fosters creativity and well-being by utilizing arts-based strategies that evolve with each grant cycle. The program seeks to enhance cultural engagement, promote lifelong learning, and increase participation in the arts across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

The CHS Foundation supports initiatives that benefit the agriculture industry, focusing on 501c3 organizations within specific states. Their funding is aimed at empowering cooperative growth and sustainable practices. Local projects may also be eligible through the CHS Seeds for Stewardship program. However, funding is not available for individuals, sports teams, or religious groups, ensuring that the support remains directed towards community and cooperative development.

The Make/Shift Pitch Haus Competition, hosted by CultureSource, aims to celebrate Michigan's vibrant creative community by awarding four grants of $25,000 each. This initiative supports artists, makers, and cultural entrepreneurs who contribute to the state's identity and economic growth. Participants will utilize a versatile shipping container for various artistic activations, fostering collaboration and innovation. By investing in creative talents, Pitch Haus not only enhances cultural expression but also aids in talent retention and community development across Michigan.

The Arts Education Community Impact Grant, provided by the Tennessee Arts Commission, aims to enhance arts education through sustainable, community-driven initiatives. This three-year funding opportunity encourages partnerships among K-12 public schools, nonprofit arts organizations, and local agencies to address gaps in arts education. By emphasizing collaborative efforts and shared leadership, the grant seeks to create lasting systemic change, ensuring high-quality arts learning for all Tennessee K-12 students while supporting innovative projects and community engagement.
