Leo Szilard Lectureship Award

To recognize outstanding accomplishments by physicists in promoting the use of physics for the benefit of society in such areas as the environment, arms control, and science policy. The lecture format is intended to increase the visibility of those who have promoted the use of physics for the benefit of society. The award consists of $5,000, a certificate citing the contributions of the recipient, plus $2,000 travel expenses for lectures given by the recipient at an APS meeting and at two or more educational institutions or research laboratories in the year following the award. The lectures should be especially aimed at physicists early in their careers.

Nominations will be considered for three review cycles provided the nominator re-certifies the nomination before the next deadline.

Leo P. Kadanoff Prize

This prize recognizes scientists whose theoretical, experimental, or computational achievements have opened new vistas for statistical and or nonlinear physics. The annual prize consists of $10,000, a medal, certificate, travel reimbursement up to $500 for recipients traveling within North America, up to $1,000 from overseas, and a registration waiver to attend the APS March Meeting to give an invited talk and accept the award.

The Obici Healthcare Foundation offers Community Engagement Grants to support nonprofit initiatives that enhance the health of local residents. To recognize outstanding research in theoretical statistical physics including the quantum fluids. The prize consists of $10,000 as well as a certificate citing the contribution made by the recipient. It was presented annually beginning in 1995.

Louisiana Project Grants

Louisiana Project Grants (LPG), formerly the Decentralized Arts Funding program (DAF), solely funds project assistance for innovative, community-based arts projects that will have a lasting community impact. LPG is administered jointly by the Louisiana Division of the Arts (LDOA) and the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.

LPG grants are available to eligible applicants domiciled in one of the ten parishes represented by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. Grant amounts range from $2,500 to $7,500.

The Small Town Challenge Fund, launched by the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, invites municipalities in Cambria and Indiana counties to apply for one of two $25,000 grants. The North Smithfield Ambulance & Rescue Association Fund Grants, supported by The Rhode Island Community Foundation, aim to enhance the health and welfare of North Smithfield citizens. The Dave Dowling Scholarship, offered by the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers, supports aspiring students in horticulture or floriculture. The Arts dollars Grant Program is dedicated to enhancing K-12 arts education by funding projects that provide opportunities for students in the Quad Cities. New York State Energy Research and Development Authority

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) offers objective information and analysis, innovative programs, technical expertise, and support to help New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, save money, use renewable energy, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. A public benefit corporation, NYSERDA has been advancing energy solutions and working to protect the environment since 1975.

Green Jobs - Green New York Energy Studies

Through Green Jobs - Green New York (GJGNY), energy studies are available for small commercial and not-for-profits to identify and analyze opportunities to make buildings more efficient, which lowers associated energy costs. Small commercial with 100 or fewer full-time equivalent employees or not-for-profit organizations of any size are eligible for this offering, in facilities 50,000 sq ft or less.

Studies include:

• Site staff interviews
• Utility bill analysis
• Fuel-neutral, unbiased evaluation of potential low-cost/no-cost and capital improvement energy efficiency upgrades
• Energy study report that outlines potential energy and cost savings opportunities for your facility.

The Historic Economic Asset Lifeline (HEAL) Program, initiated by the Kansas Department of Commerce, aims to revitalize underutilized downtown buildings in rural Kansas. The program offers grants for building and façade improvements, encouraging economic activity by supporting new businesses, housing, and civic engagement. Eligible projects must demonstrate potential for revitalization and adhere to local design standards. Funding includes up to $100,000 for building grants and $40,000 for façade improvements, requiring a 1:1 match from applicants.

Village of the Living Dead Kenneth Fulton Memorial Scholarship

Kenneth Fulton was a member of the St. Charles Haunted House since its very beginning in 1985 until his passing at the haunted house in 1998. He volunteered and also brought along with him his kids and brothers to volunteer as well. Ken was a quiet gentle man that loved what the haunted house stood for and who it was all about – the kids. His favorite character to play was Michael Myers. He was tall and quiet and was able to scare the patrons with his eerie silence. He loved the members of the haunted house as his own family. He is greatly missed and would be so proud to be a part of this scholarship.

The ArtsWA Art Project Grant supports organizations in Washington State providing public art programming. Eligible groups can request funding between $2,000 and $5,000, and must demonstrate a history of project execution. This reimbursement grant is focused on projects with arts as a main component and does not require an arts-focused mission. The NJDEP: It Pay$ to Plug In Grant offers financial support for the acquisition and upkeep of electric vehicle charging stations. Aimed at expanding New Jersey's electric vehicle infrastructure, this initiative encourages residents, businesses, and government entities to transition to electric vehicles, which significantly lower emissions and enhance air quality. In honor of Earth Day, approximately $7.6 million will be allocated for fast chargers, utilizing VW settlement funds and additional financial resources.
