Creative Places Arts Facilities (CPAF) - Construction Grants

The Creative Places Arts Facilities (CPAF) program assists arts organizations in building, renovating, restoring, or enhancing facilities used for arts activities that benefit Alabamians.

Construction grants fund the building of a new facility, substantial renovations of an existing facility, or significant repairs/modifications of existing facilities. Applicants may request up to $100,000; these grants require applicant-funded expenses equal to, or greater than, the amount requested.

Mission

Strengthen economic and community vitality by building partnerships and leveraging resources to make Iowa the choice for people and business. Through two main divisions – business development and community development – IEDA administers several state and federal programs to meet its goals of assisting individuals, communities and businesses. IEDA works to achieve its mission and goals to benefit Iowans while maintaining a high level of transparency. 

CDBG Planning Grants

Approximately $60,522 in federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds are available to cities and counties through the state of Iowa’s Planning Grants Program. All incorporated cities and all counties in the State, except those designated as HUD entitlement areas, are eligible to apply for and receive funds under this program.

The Planning Grants Program allows communities to seek funding for three types of planning tools: Capital Improvement Plans, Asset Management Plans, and Historic District Surveys. Each plan can help communities understand their needs and create long-term strategies for protecting public health, strengthening economies, and sustaining critical infrastructure. These plans allow communities to best steward public, cultural, and historical resources and become more resilient and fiscally stable for generations to come.

Applicants must demonstrate at the time of application that they have, at minimum, a dollar-for-dollar match to the requested award amount.

The Planning Grant Program will not have a HUD National Objective; however, plans developed with CDBG funds must state how they will develop future CDBG projects.  

CFR 200 Audit Requirements

CDBG contracts may be subject to audit. Federal Code (2 CFR 200) requires that recipients that expend $750,000 or more in federal funds within a fiscal year must have a single or program specific audit. When budgeting for CDBG funds, applicants should be aware of these audit requirements:

• For recipients of $750,000 or more in federal funds received from more than one source of federal funding, an organization-wide audit must be conducted in accordance with federal requirements outlined in 2 CFR 200.514
• For recipients of $750,000 or more in federal funds received from a single source, a project audit, targeting only transactions dealing specifically with the project, may be performed in lieu of an organization-wide audit.

Communities should consult with their accountants regarding the applicability of an audit and audit requirements.

Audit costs are a CDBG-eligible expense. Organization-wide audits can be paid with CDBG funds proportional to the amount of all other funds included in the audit. The total cost of a project audit can be paid with CDBG funds.

ArtsFairfax 

ArtsFairfax is the 501(c)(3) designated as Fairfax County’s local arts agency funded in part by Fairfax County, Virginia Commission for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as corporations, foundations, and individuals. ArtsFairfax invests in and amplifies the arts for all in Fairfax County.

Project Support Grants

ArtsFairfax Project Support Grants serve arts organizations with funding to support projects that engage Fairfax County residents. Project Support Grants are awarded in four grant subcategories, including Arts in Education, Opportunity, Partnerships, and Arts Access.

Grant Program Objective

The ArtsFairfax Project Support Grant seeks to:

• Provide financial and other means of support to both established and emerging arts organizations.
• Promote opportunities for arts organizations of all disciplines to create, present, and celebrate their artistic endeavors.
• Be a catalyst for increased private sector support for arts organizations through leveraged public funding.
• Encourage wide participation in the arts through diverse cultural programming available to all residents of Fairfax County.
• Support activities that would not normally be part of your organization’s usual activities.

Examples of Eligible Activities

• If your organization provides afterschool arts instruction, then this funding could support the design and implementation of a new class offering that has not been offered before.
• If your organization occasionally hosts a guest artist, then funding could support bringing an artist who might normally be financially out of reach.
• This funding is not intended to support ongoing activities that your organization does on a regular basis as part of your mission.

Grant Subcategories

There are four grant subcategories within the Project Support Grant Program. An organization can submit one grant application in a single subcategory. The four subcategories are: Arts in Education; Opportunity; Partnerships; and Arts Access

Opportunity

Opportunity projects provide the resources for an organization to take advantage of an atypical or out-of-the-ordinary opportunity that otherwise would be out of reach. Opportunity projects should further the growth and development of the applicant organization or engage audiences in new arts experiences. Project Support Grants can support performances by guest artists, activities, or infrastructure enhancements, including programs, exhibitions, and performances for diverse populations (including, but not limited to age, race, cultural background, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, marital status, disability, socio-economic status, or neighborhood of residence) and/or in underserved areas of the Fairfax County.

The Daffodil Grant is a highly competitive grant program aimed at supporting impactful organizations in Oregon. With funding typically ranging from $100,000 to $125,000 per year, it provides opportunities for multi-year commitments. Eligible applicants must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as financial stability. This program prioritizes organizations aligned with its mission and values, ensuring meaningful investments in the community. Applications are assessed rigorously, with funding decisions expected within 3-4 months.

The Small Communities Grant Program by the Blandin Foundation aims to empower Minnesota's smallest, most diverse, and economically challenged communities by providing essential funding for projects that enhance community well-being. By fostering collaboration and trust among residents, the program seeks to drive meaningful economic, social, and physical changes. Grant awards typically range from $25,000 to $150,000, with a focus on sustainable initiatives that build local capacity and pride.

The Joe DeMott Port Allegany Community Development Fund, managed by the McKean County Community Foundation, honors the legacy of Board Member Joe DeMott. This fund supports 501c3 organizations, schools, and municipalities by funding projects that enhance community development, education, and the arts within the Port Allegany School District. With a maximum grant of $1400, the fund aims to create lasting positive impacts in the community.

The Pasadena Community Foundation's Arts & Culture Grants support local nonprofits that enrich the community through arts and culture. Established in 2023, this program focuses on ongoing needs and responses to the Eaton Fire, emphasizing innovation, technology, audience engagement, and collaboration. Eligible organizations must be located within the Pasadena Unified School District and have a record of effective service. Applications are prioritized based on their potential to foster community impact and inclusivity.

The Northwest Community Bank Foundation supports non-profits that enhance community life through grants focused on education, housing, basic human services, and community impact. Eligible organizations include registered 501(c)(3) entities aligned with the Foundation's mission, serving areas across Connecticut. With an average grant size of $3,500 and a cap of $25,000 per year, the Foundation aims to foster economic success, empower youth, and provide essential services to those in need.

Zions Bank Grant supports nonprofit organizations that provide essential services within the communities it serves. Focus areas for funding include affordable housing, arts and culture, community service, inclusive communities, economic development, education, and health and human services. Nonprofits applying must be 501(c)(3) organizations and operate within Zions Bank's market area. Notably, the bank does not fund individuals, for-profit entities, or programs outside its service areas.

The Wolf Kahn Foundation Grant supports nonprofit organizations focused on visual arts, enhancing education and artist careers through exhibitions and residencies. Grants range from $5,000 to $15,000, prioritizing projects that promote social justice and environmental awareness. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations located in specific regions, while school-based programs and certain other entities are excluded. This initiative honors Wolf Kahn's legacy by fostering artistic collaboration and public engagement.

The GLCF Century Fund offers $100,000 annually to tax-exempt charitable organizations in Lynchburg and surrounding counties. This grant supports transformational projects that significantly improve nonprofit operations and community services. Eligible applicants must have 501(c)(3) status and demonstrate a commitment to innovative change. The fund aims to enhance various project categories, including arts, education, and environmental initiatives. Organizations can apply every five years, ensuring a continuous opportunity for impactful funding.

The Boulder Junction Community Foundation provides grants to support innovative projects that address community needs and enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors. Eligible applicants include local nonprofits, schools, and government entities. Projects must align with the Foundation's mission and can include areas like education, health, and community development. The Foundation seeks to fund initiatives that foster collaboration and long-term impact, while avoiding support for annual campaigns or projects that discriminate.

The Arts Build Community: Incubation Grants by Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation aim to foster community engagement through innovative arts projects. Targeted towards nonprofit arts organizations in Berkshire County, the grants provide up to $7,500 to initiatives that address barriers to participation, such as cost and accessibility. The program encourages collaboration and inclusivity, specifically focusing on communities of color, youth, and immigrants, ensuring a diverse and vibrant arts culture in the region.

The Story County Community Foundation offers the McCallsburg, Iowa Legacy Grant to enhance community well-being. This grant is aimed at nonprofit organizations and government entities in McCallsburg, focusing on projects that directly benefit local residents. Funding is subject to the available balance of the McCallsburg Legacy Fund. The Foundation prioritizes initiatives that promote art, education, health, and community welfare while fostering an inclusive environment. The CBE Community Outreach Program Grant empowers local charities in Iowa, Tennessee, and Texas by providing financial support through employee donations. With contributions ranging from $5 to $25 per paycheck, CBE Companies donates over $15,000 quarterly to foster community engagement. This initiative reflects CBE's commitment to making a meaningful impact through partnerships and volunteerism, enhancing the quality of life in the communities they serve.

The Call for Kindness Grant, offered by Riley's Way Foundation, empowers young leaders aged 13-23 to launch impactful social projects focused on kindness and community connection. With grants up to $5,000, recipients receive essential mentorship, coaching, and community support. This initiative has already benefited over 3,500 youth nationwide, promoting values of empathy and social change. Applicants can pursue projects in diverse areas, including environmental justice, ensuring a broad impact in their communities.

The Snowy Owl Foundation Grant, established in 2010, supports organizations focused on Land, Art, Education, and Human Need. With a mission to nourish good organizations, the Foundation prioritizes local community initiatives while also considering qualified regional projects. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) designated charities, while requests from religious organizations, individuals, and political entities are not reviewed. This grant aims to foster creativity and address critical community needs.

The Portland Arts & Culture General Operating Support program provides essential funding for local arts organizations that enhance the cultural ecosystem of the city. With a focus on accessibility, these grants support a wide range of activities including community events and arts education. Eligible organizations must be based in Portland, hold IRS 501(c)(3) status, and demonstrate a commitment to serving diverse communities. Over 1.5 million attendees benefit from these programs annually, bolstering the local economy.

Impact100 Atlanta is a philanthropic initiative led by a diverse group of women aiming to create a sustainable impact in Metro Atlanta through collective funding. The organization focuses on supporting nonprofits addressing critical areas such as arts, education, family services, health, and environmental preservation. Grants are awarded based on eligibility criteria, and five finalists are selected to compete for funding at the Annual Meeting, promoting transformative projects within the community.

The Fund for the Arts: Cultural Pass Partner program offers 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in the arts and culture sector the opportunity to provide free access to local institutions for youth aged 0-21. Through collaboration with various libraries and cultural organizations, the program encourages participation while ensuring grant funding is specifically allocated for arts and culture programming. Eligible organizations can register to be part of this initiative and enhance community engagement through the arts.

The Arts in Neighborhoods Community Event Mini-Grant supports innovative and creative events that engage communities in Greater Louisville. Applicants can request between $500 and $5,000 in funding, with a 1:1 match required for amounts exceeding $2,000. This program aims to foster community connections through arts and culture, allowing for events tied to geographic locations or shared interests and cultures, such as gardening or the LGBTQ+ community.

The Rose Grant is a competitive funding opportunity aimed at supporting Oregon-based nonprofits with operating budgets over $250,000. Grants typically range from $25,000 to $35,000 annually, with possible awards between $10,000 and $75,000. Organizations are encouraged to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and financial readiness. The grant application is shared with the Daffodil Grant program, and funding decisions are expected within 3-4 months after the application period closes.

The Sunflower Grant supports grassroots organizations in Oregon with funding ranging from $1,000 to $10,000, typically between $4,000 and $7,000 annually. This program aims to assist independent 501(c)(3) organizations focusing on local community needs. While the grant process is straightforward, competition has increased due to a rise in applications. Eligible applicants must have a fiscal year financial statement available at the time of application, and the grants are intended for general operating support.

The GKFF Accelerator Grants aim to enhance funding access for historically disadvantaged nonprofits in Tulsa. By providing financial and technical support, the program empowers community leaders to implement effective solutions addressing local needs. Grants are available on a rolling basis, with quarterly reviews in February, May, August, and November. This initiative aligns with the George Kaiser Family Foundation's mission to ensure equitable opportunities for all Tulsans, fostering community engagement and improving overall well-being.

The Strengthening Communities- Caring and Connected NWA Grant aims to enhance the quality of life in Benton and Washington counties, Arkansas. By fostering a sense of belonging among residents, the grant seeks to create a vibrant, interconnected community where everyone thrives together. The Dallas Foundation's Spring Grant Cycle invites nonprofits to submit Letters of Inquiry for funding in key areas: Animal Welfare, Arts & Culture, and Domestic Violence. Emphasizing diversity and inclusivity, the Foundation aims to support organizations that enhance community welfare and provide essential services to Dallas County residents. With plans to fund 5-10 nonprofits, this initiative underscores a commitment to improving lives and fostering a brighter future for all in North Texas.

The Fred and Barbara Erb Family Foundation supports arts and culture initiatives in Southeast Michigan, with a focus on strengthening jazz culture and mentorship traditions. They provide funding for professional development opportunities for artists and promote audience engagement through music education. The foundation envisions a vibrant cultural landscape and is committed to making bold investments that address community needs while fostering collaboration among local organizations.
