Carol Troeller Second Chance Scholarship Fund

To support students with emergency financial needs with a preference for a female student in business fields of study

The Award for Diversity Course Design, initiated by the Society for Music Theory, aims to enhance diversity, inclusion, and social justice in undergraduate music theory courses. Starting in 2025, two annual awards will recognize outstanding syllabi: one for core theory curricula and another for topical courses. The EWVCF Human Welfare Grant supports nonprofit organizations in Jefferson, Berkeley, and Morgan counties, West Virginia, providing essential assistance to vulnerable populations. Established by the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation in 1995, this grant aims to uplift sick, needy, and disadvantaged individuals by funding programs that promote equity and inclusion. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations, public schools, and civic groups, fostering a diverse range of community-focused initiatives.

The Conservation Education Grant supports educational programs in forestry and natural resources for pre-K to 12th-grade students and their educators. Applications emphasize outdoor activities and professional development, with awards capped at $3,000, requiring project completion within a year. Though no match is mandatory, a 25% contribution is encouraged to strengthen funding applications.

In 2025, the Community Foundation of Madison & Jefferson County awarded over $233,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors of the county’s public and private high schools. Nearly 50 different students earned money toward their college costs. Scholarships are available for a variety of applicants. Some are specific to schools, majors, need, or interests.

CFMJC scholarships may be used for tuition and related expenses like fees and required equipment at accredited colleges and universities. Room and board are not covered.

Terry & Wanda Wood Memorial Scholarship

Criteria evaluated:

• Work ethic and ambition, desire to pursue a trade, and financial need

Required materials: 

• Essay of up to 250 words describing the applicant’s career path plans, 
• 2 letters of recommendation from teachers and/or counselors, and 3) FAFSA SAI PDF upload

Scholarship amount:

• $7,500 | 1 scholarship

The Helen E. Nash, M.D. Educational Trust Fund Scholarship honors Dr. Helen Nash's legacy in St. Louis by providing need-based financial support up to $7,000 annually for qualifying high school seniors. Applicants must be residents of St. Louis City, rank in the top third of their class, and intend to enroll in a four-year college or university in Missouri. This scholarship aims to empower students to pursue higher education, reflecting Dr. Nash's commitment to equality and education.

The Library Grant Cycle, supported by the Bernard Carl and Shirley Rosen Library Fund, aims to enhance youth access to local libraries in Cayuga, Cortland, Seneca, Tioga, and Tompkins counties. The BJC Scholars Fund Scholarship, backed by BJC HealthCare, aims to support high school seniors from specific Missouri and Illinois counties pursuing higher education. Eligible students can receive up to $12,000 per academic year, renewable for up to ten semesters. This initiative addresses community needs highlighted by the Ferguson Commission, promoting educational opportunities for youth in the regions served by BJC hospitals, which are known for their commitment to healthcare excellence.

The rootEd Undergraduate Scholarship, established by rootEd Alliance in 2018, supports high school seniors from rural Missouri and Idaho in pursuing higher education. This renewable scholarship provides up to $12,000 annually for students attending accredited nonprofit colleges or universities. Eligible applicants must demonstrate financial need, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, and be committed to completing a bachelor’s degree program. This initiative aims to enhance educational opportunities and promote success for students in rural America.
