Best Capacity Building Grants for Nonprofits

The Maine Humanities Council Mini Grants program provides funding of up to $2,000 to nonprofit organizations in Maine for humanities projects that foster community engagement and outreach. The Arizona Community Foundation of Yuma, established in 1993, champions enduring philanthropy to enhance Yuma County. With over $19 million in assets and more than $10 million granted since inception, ACF connects community needs with passionate donors. Last year alone, it invested over $1 million in local projects. Eligible organizations can apply for funding to build capacity, support direct services, and cover operating costs, fostering sustainable impact across the region.

The Community Assistance Program (CAP) provides vital funding to Alaska's boroughs, cities, and unincorporated communities. Established in 2017, CAP supports essential public services and allows recipients to prioritize their funding needs. Eligible applicants include boroughs, cities, Native Village Councils, non-profits, and reserves. This program plays a crucial role in enhancing community welfare and ensuring that local governments can effectively serve their populations.

The Community Foundation of Shelby County offers grants to recognized 501(c)(3) organizations and government entities that benefit Shelby County residents. Priorities include efficient resource use, collaboration among organizations, and innovative approaches to community issues. Applicants must provide specific project details, including funding requests and timelines. Note that certain projects, such as ongoing operational funding or those not serving Shelby County, are ineligible. For more details, contact the Grants Administrator before applying.

Dell Rapids Community Fund Grant 

The Dell Rapids Community Fund was created by and for local citizens to improve the quality of life right here in our community. Gifts to the Fund grow over time thanks to the benefit of a pooled investment that generates long-term asset growth.

Through the power of endowment, more than $80,000 has been granted to nonprofits and causes throughout the Dell Rapids area, touching the lives of people right here at home.

FCFP is North Central PA’s most established vehicle for local charitable giving. Our mission is a big one, and our work can seem complex. But ultimately, it comes down to inspiring community giving and investing in community good.

Our love for North Central PA runs deep. And our knowledge of these communities is broad.

While our efforts are focused in Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union Counties, our work reaches into Bradford, Clinton, Columbia, Potter, Sullivan, and Tioga Counties through scholarships, as well as donors and their geographic area funds.

2026 Community Grant Program

• One $110,000 Grant for Greater Susquehanna Valley counties – Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Union.
• One $110,000 Grant for Lycoming County.
• Programs/projects must either have a total budget of $110,000 or if over $110,000 the other funding sources must be committed by August 31, 2026

The Three Rivers Community Foundation offers an Annual Grant Cycle aimed at supporting nonprofits in Benton and Franklin counties. Grants range from $500 to over $10,000, with an average award of $4,000. Eligible applicants include 501c3 organizations. The foundation focuses on program/project grants and impact grants, which provide flexible funding to organizations that have demonstrated effective use of prior funding. Certain ineligible expenses include capital campaigns and political activities.

The InterLinc Family Foundation Grant focuses on improving community quality of life through strategic investments. It supports 501(c)(3) non-profits with proven effectiveness and sound financial management. Grants aim to address specific community needs, avoiding service duplication. Eligible projects should align with the Foundation's interests and demonstrate broad financial support. Applications are accepted year-round, fostering impactful initiatives that resonate with the Foundation's mission of community enhancement.

The Community Foundation is honored to have a variety of scholarship funds established by individuals and groups of donors for the purpose of helping younger generations of Nantucketers further their education. Each fund is unique, and criteria and goals of the scholarship vary for each scholarship.

The Community Foundation for Nantucket awards more than $90,000 in scholarships each year. Awards range from $1,000 to $10,000. The most common award is $2,000. While some awards may be higher than this amount, no award amount will be lower than $1000.

Ann and Michael Rosenblatt Women in Mathematics Scholarship Fund

Provide tuition assistance to female students who excel in mathematics.

The Competitive Grant from the Bloomsburg Fund aims to support nonprofit organizations that benefit the Greater Bloomsburg Area. With approximately $10,000 available, eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit or governmental entities, ensuring that all funds are utilized within Bloomsburg and its surroundings. This opportunity encourages impactful programs and projects that enhance the community's well-being.

The Competitive Grant from the Danville Fund aims to enhance the quality of life for residents in the greater Danville area by supporting charitable organizations that invest in community programs. Grants typically range from $500 to $2,000, with the potential for larger awards of up to $5,000 for significant projects. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit and government organizations focused on enriching community engagement.

The Republic Philanthropic Society Grantmaking Program aims to enhance the quality of life in Republic through targeted grants. Governed by knowledgeable local leaders, this initiative supports 501(c)(3) organizations and IRS-approved entities in addressing community needs. With a maximum request of $3,700, the program encourages collaboration and innovation, focusing on expanding existing services and developing new initiatives. The foundation is committed to inclusivity, ensuring no discrimination in the use of grant funds.

The CFEA Mini Grants program offers three $500 grants annually to nonprofits operating for 2-5 years in the Lee, Macon, Tallapoosa, Chambers, or Russell counties. These grants provide flexible, unrestricted funding for general operating support, enabling organizations to pursue their missions effectively. Eligible applicants must demonstrate community need and submit a 501(c)(3) tax determination letter, mission statement, and measurable objectives. This initiative strengthens local nonprofits and fosters community development.

The Advanced Industries Proof of Concept Grant, offered by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, provides up to $150,000 to Colorado research institutions for applied research in advanced industries. This funding aims to accelerate commercialization of innovative products and services through pre-commercial research, intellectual property protection, and technical validation. The grant prioritizes projects that impact multiple advanced industries and require matching funds from non-State sources.

The Bexley Community Foundation offers semi-annual grants aimed at projects that enhance the Bexley community experience. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations and government agencies, while faith-based organizations can apply for non-religious initiatives. The Foundation emphasizes fairness and equity in participation, ensuring no arbitrary barriers exist. Ineligible projects include endowment funds, fundraising expenses, and those aimed at influencing legislation. The Lincoln County Community Foundation Grant Cycle aims to enhance local initiatives by funding projects in key areas such as child services, education, food insecurity, housing, mental health, and utility assistance. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations that serve Lincoln County residents. The Judicial Fellowship Program at California State University, Sacramento, offers emerging professionals paid placements in California's superior courts and Judicial Council offices. This program focuses on enhancing court administration and access to justice, providing fellows with hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities for professional development. Participants engage in meaningful research and projects that address real challenges in the judiciary, benefiting both their careers and the communities they serve.

The West Elk Community Fund Grant supports nonprofit organizations in Hotchkiss, Paonia, and Crawford, with a focus on addressing food insecurity and enhancing volunteer engagement. Established in 2018, it has allocated over $117,000 to local nonprofits. Eligible applicants must have IRS Tax Exempt status and be compliant with Colorado's laws. The grant aims to foster community development and support vital services in the North Fork Valley through collaborative efforts and financial assistance.

The Lawrence County Community Foundation's Boost Grant offers funding of up to $2,000 for small projects and operating expenses to local nonprofits, schools, and governmental agencies. Established in 1992, the Foundation aims to support charitable initiatives that benefit the community of Lawrence County, Indiana. This grant allows applicants to submit one application, aiding in sustainable growth and development through community-centered projects.

The Lawrence County Community Foundation: Impact Grant supports local nonprofit organizations, schools, and governmental agencies in Lawrence County, Indiana. Established in 1992, it offers grants for projects over $2,000, enabling applicants to receive multiple grants. The foundation focuses on generating earnings from permanent endowment funds to benefit the community through charitable giving, ensuring that funds will support the community for generations to come.

The Union City Community Foundation, established in 2003 by LaRue Ottaway, aims to enhance the quality of life for Union City residents through charitable endowments and community leadership. With over $800,000 awarded in grants and scholarships, the foundation supports local initiatives, including the Ottaway/Saint Vincent Health Center Fund, which is valued at over $1.5 million. Through donor generosity, it strengthens local organizations and addresses pressing community issues.

The Taney County Grantmaking Program, managed by the Community Foundation of Taney County, aims to enhance the quality of life for residents through strategic grantmaking. Eligible applicants, including 501(c)(3) organizations and other IRS-approved entities, can apply for grants up to $5,000. The foundation emphasizes a non-discriminatory approach in its funding decisions, ensuring fair access to resources for all community members.

The Perry County Affiliate Grantmaking Program, administered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, aims to enhance the quality of life in Perry County. Grants of up to $1,500 are available to 501(c)(3) organizations, government entities, school districts, and churches. The Daniel Foundation of Alabama offers Special Project Grants aimed at substantial capital projects, new programming, or strategic expansions that significantly enhance community life. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)3 public charities and can only apply again after a two-year hiatus. These grants are not intended for ongoing operational costs. The foundation's mission is to support initiatives that improve the quality of life for Alabama citizens through healthy and educational advancements.

The SFF: Shore Community Grants for Yadkin County, funded by the Wayne A. Shore Endowment Fund, offers grants up to $12,000 to support organizations in key areas like animal welfare, arts, community development, and health. Eligible applicants must be IRS-registered 501(c)(3) organizations or governmental entities with at least three years of service. Collaborative projects with multiple nonprofits are encouraged to enhance effectiveness and sustainability.

Brandon Community Foundation Grant

The Brandon Community Foundation was created by and for local citizens to improve the quality of life right here in our community. Gifts to this endowment fund, an affiliate of the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation, grow over time thanks to the benefit of a pooled investment that generates long-term asset growth.

Through the power of endowment, each and every year we are able to award important grants to Brandon-area nonprofits. To date, more than $515,000 has been granted to nonprofits and causes throughout the Brandon area, touching the lives of people right here at home.
