NCRC Field Empowerment Fund (FEF) - Housing Counseling Services

The Field Empowerment Fund (FEF) empowers NCRC network members to level up established service lines.

The Housing Counseling Services series within FEF supports HUD-approved housing counseling agencies in driving homeownership, such as through pre-purchase counseling. In addition, the program builds agency knowledge on heirs’ property challenges to better equip first-time and low-income homebuying households with the know-how to retain intergenerational wealth.

In doing so, FEF-HCS aims to help underserved families begin their homeownership journey, with an additional goal of ensuring foresight into the long-term future of their home purchase.

The FEF-HCS series is funded in partnership with Key Bank and HSBC, and targets communities within the Key Bank and HSBC branch footprints.

Through these partnerships, $2.5 million in Key Bank geographies and $1.5 million in HSBC geographies has been allocated for the subgrants for direct-to-client housing counseling services that will be awarded in three rounds in the FEF-HCS track.

Funding Support

Awardee agencies will receive subgrants to support their housing counseling services to clients.

Knowledge Building

Awardee agencies will attend a training session on heirs’ property challenges and best practices, hosted by NCRC National Training Academy. Bolstering counselor knowledge on this topic will ensure that your agency is not only serving clients in their personal wealth-building journey now, but also helping them preserve that wealth in generations to come.

The U.S. Wildland Fire Service Joint Fire Science Program (JFSP) invites proposals for regional fire science exchanges across nine designated regions in the U.S. This initiative aims to promote the sharing of fire science knowledge and practices over a two-year period. Eligible applicants can focus on regions including Alaska, Appalachians, Great Basin, North Atlantic, Northern Rockies, Northwest, Oak Woodlands, Pacific Islands, and Southwest. Proposals must be specific to one region.

Entergy’s Open Grants Program aims to enhance community well-being through funding initiatives in arts, education, social services, and community improvement. The program prioritizes support for organizations that serve diverse populations, including children and low-income communities. Eligible entities must have 501(c)(3) status or equivalent nonprofit recognition. Applications should be submitted three months in advance, allowing ample time for review. The CT Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) supports sustainable agriculture by protecting farmland through Agricultural Land Easements (ALE). These easements limit non-agricultural land uses, preserving cropland and grassland vital for food production. The Strategic Alliance Matching Grant - Division II offers financial support to enhance ethnic minority and gender representation in mid- to senior-level athletics administration roles across NCAA Division II institutions. With an annual budget of $860,000, the grant aims to fund up to 20 schools and conferences each year. Eligible applicants must be active Division II members and are encouraged to collaborate with their human resources departments during the proposal process, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.

The National Coastal Resilience Fund (NCRF) aims to protect coastal communities through nature-based solutions, enhancing habitats while addressing the growing threats of climate change. The NRP Research Grant Program offers up to $50,000 for healthcare professionals to explore optimal neonatal resuscitation methods. It encourages innovative research addressing gaps in transitional physiology and effective teaching of resuscitation skills. Undergraduate Research Grants are available to support and promote undergraduate research with faculty advisors at their institution. A student is eligible for one award per academic year.

New applicants will be given priority over recent awardees with all grants. All research must be conducted in person and on-site.

Award Opportunities – Students may be preparing for senior design projects, honors research, or searching for an educational experience, which is consistent with the mission of NASA as exemplified by its Mission Directorates.

The purpose of these grants is to allow students to purchase items needed for senior capstone, undergraduate research, or extracurricular club design projects including materials, electronic components, chemicals, etc. NASA CTSGC recognizes these small grants will allow students to choose projects that are beyond the normal funds allocated by departments, colleges, and universities.

Any group or individual project that is consistent with the mission of NASA as exemplified by its Mission Directorates, is eligible.

Funds may be used for supplies and materials only. Funds may not be used for travel, equipment/computers, entertainment, entry fees, tuition, salaries, fringe benefits, or indirect costs.

Student-led Group Travel Grant

To encourage small groups of students to travel to NASA facilities to use their unique resources and/or present Space Grant and NASA funded research at conferences the NASA CTSGC awards travel grants. This grant is awarded on a rolling basis based on available funds.

This award is not to attend a conference for networking or non-presenting purposes.

The Call for Kindness Grant, offered by Riley's Way Foundation, empowers young leaders aged 13-23 to launch impactful social projects focused on kindness and community connection. The Bydale Foundation Grant supports nonprofit organizations in Connecticut, Westchester County, and North Carolina, focusing on environmental initiatives, social justice, women’s rights, and grassroots advocacy. The foundation also funds programs in performing arts and poetry, as well as human rights and peace advocacy initiatives. However, unsolicited proposals from outside these areas are not accepted, and social service programs in Israel are ineligible for funding.

The Park Foundation Grants for Animal Welfare focus on advancing the protection and conservation of wildlife, particularly through policy and advocacy efforts for threatened species. Key areas include organizing for endangered wildlife, indigenous management practices, and supporting sanctuaries for great apes. Project Lead The Way is offering a rolling grant opportunity for schools across the US to implement the PLTW Gateway program for the first time. With total funding of $9,100, the grant covers participation fees and training registration costs. Schools, including public, private, and charter, are encouraged to apply, particularly those serving low-income and minority majority populations. This initiative aims to enhance educational pathways in STEM for diverse student groups.

The Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship, awarded by Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, supports first and second-year medical students conducting research over 2 to 12 months. With a total funding of $7,000, students can receive reimbursement for travel expenses up to $1,000 for presenting their findings at national conferences. Eligibility requires enrollment in schools with active AΩA chapters, while those taking a year off for research or holding a PhD are ineligible.

The CT Grown for CT Kids Grant supports K-12 schools in Connecticut to enhance Farm-to-School programs, promoting local food in child nutrition initiatives. Established in 2021, this grant program provides up to $50,000 for projects lasting up to 24 months. It aims to improve children's health, enrich education through hands-on learning about nutrition, and foster connections with local farmers, ultimately benefiting the state's economy.

CT Grown for CT Kids

The CTG4CTK Grant shall, assist schools, school districts, childcare centers and homes, and organizations to develop farm-to-school programs that will increase the availability of local foods in child nutrition programs, allow educators to use hands-on educational techniques to teach students about nutrition and farm-to-school connections, sustain relationships with local farmers and producers, enrich the educational experience of students, improve the health of children in the state and enhance the state's economy.

Connecticut Farm to Early Childcare and Education (ECE) Grant

Purpose

Early Childcare Education (ECE) is a critical component of farm to school, yet many operate very differently from K-12 education, thus we have created a separate track for all ECE providers and networks to apply. Applicants under this category will only be evaluated against each other.

Potential Projects

Project Examples (projects can incorporate multiple components; you are not limited to those listed):

• Purchase of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares for students and families.
• Purchase of CT Grown farm products for integration into student snacks/meals with clear educational farm and/or nutrition connection.
• Purchase and installation of raised garden beds or indoor growing systems/container gardens, tools, and equipment for experiential learning.
• Development/expansion of agriculture curriculum for students.
• Establishing and expanding Farm to ECE Networks.
• Professional Development Trainings for staff.
• Family engagement activities such as the creation of recipe books, cooking classes and/or take-home taste tests.
• Farm field trip and farmer visit to school(s)

Funding

Early childcare educators may apply for up to $50,000, and their programs must run for a minimum of twelve (12) months to a maximum of eighteen (18) months.

The Community Progress Makers Fund, an initiative by the Citi Foundation, aims to empower local organizations by providing $50 million in unrestricted funding. This program, established in 2015, will support 50 selected community organizations over three years with grants of $1 million each, alongside technical assistance and opportunities for collaboration. The fund prioritizes organizations with strong community ties and a proven impact in areas such as affordable housing, economic development, financial health, and workforce readiness.

Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers RFP

The purpose of the grant is to fund community learning centers that provide students with academic, enrichment, recreational, and social and emotional support opportunities outside of regular school hours and to consistently serve the same students over a prolonged period. Centers, which can be in elementary or secondary schools or other similarly accessible facilities, provide a range of high-quality services to support student learning and development. Centers should be designed to support families by offering them educational development opportunities and providing a safe environment for students when school is not in session.
