Best Dakota County Grants for Nonprofits in Minnesota

The CDC/ATSDR is seeking research proposals focused on identifying and evaluating risk factors for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The initiative encourages studies on military service, contact sports, and neuroinflammation, among others. Four funding options are available: enhancing existing evidence, exploring new risk factors, understanding ALS in specific populations, and analyzing biological samples from the Guamanian ALS cluster. This research aims to improve diagnostics, therapeutics, and prevention strategies.

Sisters of the Sacred Heartland Dr. Allan French Memorial Scholarship

Provides a scholarship to students in Oklahoma who identify as members of the LGBTQIA2S+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and/or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Two-Spirit, and the countless affirmative ways in which people choose to self-identify) and a minimum GPA of 2.7 or higher.

Scott Cornelius Memorial Scholarship (Piedmont)

To honor the memory of Scott Cornelius by supporting students pursuing careers in sales, marketing, insurance or related business fields who demonstrate leadership and integrity.

Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association Scholarships

Provides scholarships to members of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association (and their children) who best meet the criteria. In partnership with the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association.

Beryl M. Klare Scholarship Endowment

Beryl Klare created a scholarship for residents of the City of Wabash, Indiana, who are accepted into and attend an accredited post-secondary educational institution, including career training and academic degrees. Having no children of her own, she used her will to fulfill her wishes to financially assist students who want to obtain a higher education, including academic degrees and vocational training. When she passed away in 1968, her scholarship became a reality.

The Thing 1∙2∙3 Foundation Grant Program, established in 1999, is dedicated to improving the lives of children. This private foundation, inspired by Dr. Seuss' characters, focuses on providing essential support to organizations that help children. Grants are awarded to U.S. and U.S.-based international entities that align with the foundation's mission. The foundation seeks to empower those on the front lines delivering impactful services, ensuring that children's needs are met effectively.

Custer Scholarship

Gene Custer is a lifelong Wabash County resident and farmer and a generous supporter of charitable causes. Gene established the Custer Scholarship Fund to help deserving students pursue post-secondary education. The award is given based on work experience or engagement in extra-curricular school, religious, or community activities; and a character of talent, ambition, initiative, and kindness.

Dr. Howard and Helen Liebengood Scholarship Fund

The Dr. Howard and Helen Liebengood Scholarship is awarded to students who are residents of Kosciusko County graduating in the top 20% of their high school class. Dr. Liebengood was a veterinarian in Silver Lake and did much to support youth, 4-H programs, and his hometown. This renewable scholarship helps promising students who have financial need.

The Art Richards Scholarship Fund of Children In Need, Inc. offers scholarships to graduating clients of Children In Need, empowering them to pursue secondary education in academics or trades. Established in 1998, this fund was inspired by Art Richards' vision to uplift children living in poverty in Washington County, MD. Through local partnerships, the fund supports educational opportunities and honors community values, ensuring every child has the resources needed to thrive.

The Artist’s Palette Scholarship Fund, managed by the Community Foundation of Washington County, MD, supports students pursuing careers in cosmetology, aesthetics, barbering, nail technology, and massage therapy. This fund is designed to assist deserving individuals from Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania in achieving their educational goals. Scholarships are made possible by local families and organizations dedicated to enhancing community welfare and honoring significant contributions to the community. Applications open annually from January to April.

The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) is set to release a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) focused on the ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of genomics. This initiative aims to explore how genomics can enhance health and well-being while addressing its broader societal impacts. The NHGRI encourages applications from diverse academic disciplines to promote innovative and replicable research approaches that effectively analyze the consequences of genomic advancements.

Multifamily Consolidated Request for Proposals

The Multifamily Consolidated Request for Proposals (RFP) is a competitive funding round, offered once per year, by consolidating and coordinating multiple multifamily housing capital funding resources into one application process. It deploys significant capital funds and is the primary mechanism that Minnesota Housing uses to award and allocate federal and state resources. Applicants may request funding for a specific housing development and/or activities that meet a specific housing need. Applicants, generally, do not apply for specific funding sources. During the evaluation period, Minnesota Housing identifies which funding sources are eligible for a given application.

This is a core value in all of Minnesota Housing’s actions, including resources administered through the annual Multifamily Consolidated RFP/HTC funding rounds processes, which includes the awarding and allocating of housing tax credits and other deferred funding resources to affordable multifamily rental housing developments

The Ryan Myers Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by the Community Foundation of Washington County, MD, supports graduating seniors from various educational backgrounds in Washington County. This scholarship honors Ryan Myers' legacy, encouraging students pursuing higher education, trade schools, or apprenticeships. The Rotary Club of Hagerstown Sunrise Foundation Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to graduating high school students and non-traditional learners pursuing a degree or certificate in various fields. The Robert and Jenilie Palla Education Fund offers scholarships to graduating WCPS seniors who have participated in Cross Country and/or Track & Field Teams. The Jon Christopher Gauss, Jr. Wrestling Scholarship Fund, established by his parents, supports high school wrestlers pursuing post-secondary education at accredited institutions. This initiative, part of the Community Foundation of Washington County MD, aims to honor Jon's legacy while empowering students to achieve their educational goals. The scholarship enhances community engagement and provides vital financial assistance to promising athletes, ensuring that their dedication to wrestling translates into academic success.

The Minnesota Department of Education makes this funding available to Minnesota public schools districts, charter schools, tribally controlled schools, and service cooperatives for the purpose of providing start-up and ongoing support of P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) schools, established as a public- private partnership, that will prepare students for high skills jobs of the future in identified growth industries.The P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) model integrates high school, college, and industry through partnerships among school districts, community colleges, and employers. With a focus on Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields, it combines rigorous academics, workplace learning, mentoring, and internships.

Minnesota Indian Affairs Council

2027 Dakota and Ojibwe Language Revitalization Grant

According to the language set forth in the 2025 Minnesota Session Laws, 94th Legislature, Chapter 36, Article 4, Sec. 9, funds were allocated for the Indian Affairs Council to provide grants to preserve Dakota and Ojibwe Indian language and to foster education programs and immersion programs in Dakota and Ojibwe language. There is $498,750 available for one-year competitive language grants.

The Dakota and Ojibwe Language Revitalization Grant program, which funds revitalization of Minnesota’s first languages, is underwritten by an appropriation from the state’s Legacy Fund Amendment, MN Legacy Fund Amendment Information. The eligible project areas are intentionally broad and somewhat flexible to allow creativity and innovation with intent that a diverse array of projects can be funded. Recognized educational institutions in Minnesota, and 510 (C)(3) non-profits located in the State of Minnesota and currently registered with the Secretary of State’s office are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Paul Calabresi Career Development Award for Clinical Oncology aims to enhance the training of clinician-scientists in clinical and translational cancer research. This funding opportunity encourages the career growth of researchers but does not permit Scholars to lead independent clinical trials. Instead, it allows participation in clinical trials under the mentorship of an experienced researcher, fostering a collaborative approach to cancer research.
