Steve Wagner Scholarship

Steve Wagner retired as executive director of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan (ACEC/M) in 2003 after 34 years of service. As a member of the Capitol Club and Michigan Society of Association Executives, Steve was well respected by his peers and colleagues and is known for his honesty and integrity.

Steve and his wife, Lana, were married in 1965 and have two daughters, Shelley and Whitney. Throughout his career, Steve has been a proponent of community service and has given many hours himself to church and community programs. Steve also has been a strong proponent of education. ACEC/M has established this scholarship in honor of Steve Wagner to award engineering and surveying students who, like Steve, are active in the community and find it important and necessary to give something back.

In July of 1991 Martin County Board of County Commissioners entered into a planned unit development (PUD) agreement for the development of the Indiantown Cogeneration Project. A condition of the PUD agreement required the establishment of the Indiantown Community Trust Fund with the interest from the trust fund used for projects which benefit the Indiantown community and have a general synergy with the Indiantown Cogeneration Project. The trust fund has been accruing interest since October 21, 1992. The committee annually reviews applications for proposed projects and makes recommendations for funding for the projects from the accrued interest of the trust fund subject to final approval by the Village Council.The trust income shall be used solely for projects benefiting Indiantown. Examples of such projects include, but are not limited to:

• General training programs for local residents;
• Day care facilities;
• Recreation facilities;
• Community center;
• General community beautification projects; and
• ‘Seed money’ for use in community programs for matching fund programs.

The Outstanding Program Award Recipient will receive up to a $1,000 reimbursement for travel to FMX to accept the award at the AAFP Foundation Donor Recognition dinner.

Mary & Gene Levens Excellence in Teaching Grant

Mary & Gene Levens Excellence in Teaching Grant is honored to recognize teachers who continuously develop creative teaching solutions, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and are passionate about the role they play today, in developing tomorrow’s future leaders.

Amount of Teacher Grants:

A $1,000 grant or award shall be disbursed annually. The award shall be made to honor a teacher. The award must be made payable to either the school for the purpose of purchasing classroom material or supplies as determined by the teacher or awarded directly to a teacher as an award to recognize her achievement in the classroom. Donor recognizes that awards made payable to the teacher may be considered taxable income to the teacher. The grant award shall be disbursed in a single installment.

Use:

Teacher Grants shall be used by the teacher to purchase supplies, material, technology, equipment, or furnishings for use in the classroom or to pay for experiences that may benefit the class or students. The precise use of the funds shall be at the teacher’s discretion but must benefit her/his classroom or students in some way. The grant shall be paid by GCCF directly to the school or district on behalf of the teacher.

The Beveridge Family Prize in American History, awarded annually by the American Historical Association since 1945, recognizes exceptional historical writing. Eligible works include biographies, monographs, and interpretations published in 2024. This prestigious award honors Senator Albert J. Beveridge and aims to promote outstanding scholarship on American, Latin American, and Canadian history. Recipients will be announced in October 2025 and celebrated at the 2026 AHA annual meeting in Chicago.

VCA Charities is dedicated to enhancing pet ownership by offering Disaster Relief Grants to support animal welfare organizations impacted by natural disasters.
